American director and video maker Francis Lawrence was born on March 26, 1970 in the Austrian capital Vienna. The family of a physics teacher and PR agent moved a three-year-old boy to Los Angeles.
During his undergraduate studies at Loyola Marymount University Film School, Lawrence worked as an assistant on the set of the film “Hit It Out.” After graduating from film school, he became assistant director of the film Marching Out of Time, and later teamed up with Mike Rosen to shoot video clips.

During his undergraduate studies at Loyola Marymount University Film School, Lawrence worked as an assistant on the set of the film “Hit It Out.” After graduating from film school, he became assistant director of the film Marching Out of Time, and later teamed up with Mike Rosen to shoot video clips. Over the years, he has created dozens of music videos for the most popular vocalists and musical groups. Among them are Akon, Wyclef Jean, Aerosmith, Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, as well as Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears.
In 2005, Francis Lawrence directed the film Constantine: Lord of Darkness. A fantastic thriller about John Constantine, who returned from hell, is distinguished by the talented play of Keanu Reeves and an unusual plot for lovers of mysticism and fantasy.
A little later, Lawrence worked on the film “I am a legend!”, where the main role is played by Will Smith. Fantastic action movie tells about a brilliant scientist who stands in the way of searching for an antivirus against a deadly disease that has struck humanity. In 2013, the second part of the film “I am a legend” is planned to be released.
One of the most famous works of director Francis Lawrence was
Water for Elephants (2011). This film is very different from the previous ones, describing the years of the Great Depression and the financial crisis. The love affairs of the vet Jacob and the beautiful rider Marlena create problems for the whole circus where they met. The film is full of moods and images of the time, describing the life of the circus of the 1930s, inspired by the best-selling book of the same name.
The release of 2013 includes several other paintings by Francis Lawrence, among them – the film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. /
