Time travel, the battle of humans and machines are some of the main themes of science fiction. “Terminator” in this regard is a masterpiece of cinema in the genre of fiction. As in any film by James Cameron, the plot of the Terminator is thought out to the smallest detail, which does not leave white spots.
The role of a cold-blooded killer cyborg fits Arnold Schwarzenegger and has brought him unprecedented popularity for good reason.
The world of the future is represented in the film by a gloomy place where for several decades the war of survivors of a nuclear war, people with machines with artificial intelligence, the most terrible of which are human-like cyborgs from a powerful metal skeleton and with sinister infrared eyes, whose eyes blow only death and destruction.
Mankind seemed doomed until a brave man named John Connor appeared on the horizon, who taught people not to give up and fight to the last.
After failing to kill Connor in real time, Skynet sends a cyborg assassin into the past to kill John Connor's mother, Sarah. But the Resistance from the future manages to seize the time machine and send soldier Kyle Reese to protect Sarah. The fate of humanity depends on who gets to Sarah first - the Terminator or the soldier.
Despite the weak special effects and very low budget of the film (not enough money even to record stereo sound), the film turned out very successful, was enthusiastically accepted by the audience and opened a new era of science fiction cinema.

The idea of machine rebellion against humanity has been around for a long time. Many science fiction books have been written on this topic and several films have been made. For example, about the uprising of a supercomputer on a spacecraft in the film “Space Odyssey 2001”. But the widespread cultural and film boom came with the 1984 film Terminator. The film was directed by James Cameron, who was unknown at the time. The idea of a cyborg killer came to him in a dream, after which James decided to bring it to life on the screen. However, the studio that took up the film did not share the enthusiasm of the director and allocated a rather modest budget of $ 6,400,000 for the film.
The plot of the film tells the story of the arrival of a post-apocalyptic future killer machine to destroy a girl named Sarah Connor. Because it is her unborn son in the future, where the world is ruled by artificial intelligence and humanity is on the verge of extinction, will lead the army of people in the fight against machines. To protect the girl from a ruthless cybernetic killer, people from the future send a soldier Kyle Reese. This is how the story of this film begins. The plot of the picture is not linear and is able to keep the viewer in suspense with bated breath at the screen throughout the film.
Despite the fact that the film has a small budget, the film turned out very spectacular. Numerous explosions, shootings and chases will not let the viewer get bored. Of course, the appearance of the Terminator at the end of the film was slightly shaken, but given the year when the picture was shot and the limited budget – this is quite decent and not so striking.
Speaking of the Terminator, one cannot but mention Arnold Schwarzenegger. Many people associate this actor with a cyborg from this film. As if Arnold was born for the role, he brilliantly played a machine without feelings and emotions sent to kill the unfortunate girl. It was this role that brought the impoverished star of militants world fame and recognition.
However, although Arnold became the star of this film, we should not forget about the other actors. Linda Hamilton played Terminator target Sarah Connor well, and Michael Bean did well as a soldier from the future. All the actors played their roles well.
Of course, we should not forget about the beautiful music of Brad Fidel. It's a great way to keep the movie going.
As a result, the film “Terminator” is a bright representative of science fiction. James Cameron proved that he is one of the most talented directors in Hollywood. This movie is recommended for anyone who loves and appreciates good science fiction films.
Novice director will put a picture that will become the most popular in the world!
From the distant future, where human destinies are ruled by robots, which humanity itself created, a cyborg is sent to eliminate Sarah Connar, the mother of John Connor, who in the distant future will become a leader of the resistance and protector of human lives. But it wasn’t just the killer’s robots that sent one of their own, because humans wouldn’t let the person who helps survive in this brutal world die. Therefore, people will send a person who will try to protect the mother of the future hero of the country.
When I watch this movie, why is there nostalgia for those past 80th?
This film is really a work of art, a film that makes the viewer completely immersed in events that will unfold very quickly and interestingly. When viewing the picture, you will not have a feeling in which you want to continue watching. No and no again. The genius of James Cameron is that despite the fact that his favorite genre is “fantasy”, he never forgets about the audience who do not like this genre; therefore, the director always tries to show the truth, which will consist in a good performance of actors who, with their emotions, feelings, simply convey the mood of the film. The same is true here in camera work. Adam Greenberg was very realistic about the film. When watching the film, everything I see on the screen is believed in everything without any doubt, all thanks to the cameraman who realistically showed his vision and by the way it is a pity that the Academy did not nominate Greenberg, he really was worthy. It is also worth considering the editing of the film - a dynamic, energetic, developing the plot of the film in full swing.
A separate point of my review of this film is dedicated to music written by Brad Fidel. Just no words. How beautifully and "strongly" the original music conveys the film. The soundtrack created for this picture really pours into the film. The music is romantic in its own way, showing the meaning that people should protect their Earth, it conveys to the viewer the concern that the future generation would have a good future.
As for Arnold Schwarzeneger, this is almost his best role of all his works (I think Terminator 2: Judgment Day is his best role), since he really entered his character very strongly, he showed a ruthless Terminator who is not afraid of anything and confidently goes to his goal, destroying everything around. For Schwarzeneger, this is really not usual, since he is used to playing positive characters and in this film playing a negative role, he already at the first minute of viewing gives the audience his game, absolutely not fake! I really liked his performance, he really showed himself strongly and in terms of acting is not inferior to any of his fellow partners. Michael Bean and Linda Hamilton also artistically and realistically show their characters. I loved the moment associated with them, when there is an episode of love, I liked the sincerity of this moment, because it is this moment that they show that John Conar, the future of mankind, will be born.
To be honest, I think this film is not in the genre of “fantasy”, and in the genre of “thriller”. This is due to the fact that throughout the film there are murders, just as during the film, the killer robot makes viewers nervous with its constant “catch-up” for the main character and the film itself carries such a tense intrigue, in which you do not know exactly how the film will end, especially when the killer cruelly goes to his goal.
James Cameron gave his world of imagination, which is very interesting not only in its time, but now. He made the audience believe in his story, showed the audience moments of what they themselves can do in the future and that would understand what it can turn out!
The film without any doubt deserves your attention, you will never be saddened by the viewing, but on the contrary, you will think and love the characters of the picture, which will lead to the world of imagination and art.

My childhood is undoubtedly "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." It was and still is one of my favorite movies. It can be revised, revised and revised. And now, finally, I had the opportunity to plunge into the origins, and find out how it all began, watching the very first Terminator.
Briefly about the main thing:
Arnold is a negative character, a cyborg who came from the future to kill Sarah Conor and prevent her son John from being born. Also from the same near future comes a soldier Kyle, called to protect Sarah, that's where the fun begins.
For starters, I want to note that, despite all the innovation and cool special effects of the subsequent parts, the first two films will not surpass anything. So what is it, why? I think we should pay tribute to the talented director. For the film of the 80s, James Cameron created the appropriate atmosphere very qualitatively, in many ways it was accompanied by sound accompaniment, namely Brad Fiedel with his composition Main Title, which became the hallmark of this film.
From the cast, I want to note first of all Lisa Hamilton, who really coped well with her role both in 1 and in the second part, a great job, she wants to believe. As for Arnold, as an actor, I don’t like him with his one-sidedness, but this one-sidedness in this film was on hand, so I won’t be picky.
In short, this story has one remarkable property – to fall into the soul. I'm in love, and you?
Combat android, hatched from a storm cloud, aki baby Tyrannosaurus, unplanned romantic prospects rushing for him Kyle Reese, as well as the poorly disguised rebellious brutality of nominal waitress Sarah Connor – all this reminds that to retell in detail the plot of such a cult film as “Terminator” – moveton, mediocrity and “captainship”. Because it was directed by James Cameron – the guiding star of the entire film industry, a supernova that broke out on the horizon of technological progress. A person for whom the word “innovation” is not an empty sound, as it was in our top, but a real opportunity to adjust the evolutionary vector of the taste preferences of the viewer and set the bar for colleagues in the directorial department. Without burdening his paintings with deep meanings, technologically and ideologically, Cameron is at the forefront of filmmakers-innovators every time. In 1997, against the backdrop of tearful laustories to the accompaniment of one of the best ever soundtracks, he launched a huge three-deck liner to the bottom, and did it so believably that he anticipated the development of visual effects for at least a decade ahead. And in 2009, blue-skinned anthropomorphic-animalistic humanoids, protecting their native Pandora from alien colonists, finally introduced the fashion for 3D, which in the shortest possible time "papaaaaanized the whole planet." Meanwhile, in 1984, the "Terminator" not only gave a tangible impetus to the genre of a fantastic action movie, but also glorified the figure (in both senses) of Schwarzenegger, known until then only for the less intellectual and certainly less beloved by the masses "Conan the barbarian". So that posters with the image of the current Governor of California decorated the walls of boys’ rooms and rocking rooms around the world.
“Have you ever seen a woman’s ass?” lamented the infamous designer Artemy Lebedev over the rounds of a poorly drawn 3D model. So if we were talking about the ass of a man, it would be right to refer to the first ten minutes of Cameron’s offspring as a benchmark. For athletic eroticism in the personification of Arnie is something that cinema has not sang and replicated, perhaps, since the heyday of the work of Leni Riefenstahl and her “Olympia”.
The movie is conceived with shots of post-apocalyptic technonoir: laser guns emit a frighteningly unemotional “pee-pee”, and the heavy unit grunts cheerfully with human skulls under the tracked tape, unequivocally symbolizing an uncompromising refutation of Asimov’s three laws of robotics. Traditional social stratification has self-abolished, in 2029 the ball is ruled by steel misanthropes with electronic brains, and those few whose veins still run warm blood, automatically turn into potential cannon fodder. Cameron, as always, takes the scale, because the coming nuclear Tryndets is comprehensive and, as it seems at first, invariantly inevitable. The nuance is that in the political arena of militarized dystopia, Che Guevara of modern times appears, with whom the powerful Skynet can only cope with the retroactive actions of an invincible fighter of human beings.
Even the most resourceful and gifted people tend to start small. And it was then, in 1984, to write the script for free, in a quarter of a century to set an absolute record for box office in the history of filmmaking, beating his own. It was worth squandering a modest budget of $6.4 million with such intelligence and prudence that the earth shivering from explosions made you shudder, so that the man-made realities of the future did not seem like cheap computer graphics, so that the affective cyborg did not look like a surrogate doll made of stainless steel.
And it is no coincidence that the gloomy web of the streets of the alarming Los Angeles of the 80s so harmoniously merges with the landscapes of the coming planetary deadly chaos. It is not so difficult to see how stylistically accurate and edifyingly true cyberpunk battles echo the decadence of nightclubs, the musty space of motel rooms and the brutal alienation of burning buildings. In addition, tirelessly reminiscent of the dynamics of the chase, impregnated with psychological tension and flavored with an abundance of car tricks.
Literally in every frame – peremptory professionalism. Cameron not only knows how to catch the effect and play on the trends of the mainstream, like Spielberg, Nolan or Bay, but also to flaunt under this sauce his sensitive understanding of the instincts and desires of the viewer, who, although he requires a priori bread and circuses, but often tends to empathize with simple human drama. “Terminator” became a legend not only in the well-fed States, but also in our homeland. The sacramental “I’ll be back” in a vile amateur translation turned out to be one of the first echoes of Western culture for the viewer of the generation that survived the GKChP, the August putsch and card products.
A mountain of muscles, carelessly covered with fashionable leather and a steel look into the distance, hidden under the glasses of sunglasses; a face as if carved out of stone; a pistol ready... Arnie decorates the film poster as a monumental sculpture to the genre, as a living symbol of the aesthetics of masculinity and bodybuilding. And it's suggestive. It inspires so that it does not disdain to be called a separate milestone of cinemagenesis.
To judge the artistic value of this film, it is necessary to immediately (even before watching) understand that special effects are not the main thing, and just “score” them. Which is right. Since it was the 84th year, and I hope everyone understands that now these effects look almost miserable. But this is only against the background of all modern "Transformers" and "Avators". It was more than cool at the time. And it seems to me that the old special effects for us are the only serious disadvantage of this film. If you pick on something else, it is only torn installation and the work of the operator. Although, maybe everything was designed so, and this is just the style of the film.
In general, the film was made at a high level. Starting from the work of actors and ending with musical accompaniment. The script itself is more than good. It is still very interesting to watch the events on the screen, as they say, this is a film for all time. He was cool in '84, he was cool in the nineties, two thousand, and he's cool now. The legendary phrase "I'll Be Back" is just worth it! It is still used as a reference, often remembered and talked about her “cool”, and even Medvedev joked on this topic on Arnie! The very image of Cyborg Assassin and his coolness. Pros can be listed for quite a long time, and the fact that this is "classic", I will generally remain silent.
I think the first part is more like a good thriller. There isn’t much of a fighter there. Really long and serious scenes with firearms can be counted on the fingers. This is not a disadvantage, but even a plus. Scenes are taken by the quality of the production, not the number of explosions. The strongest part of the film is the ending. If you can still say “Well, I don’t believe!” about the chase episode, then after the factory you just forget about your doubts. Only the effects really cut the eyes. The picture can be neglected, I think. After all, this is just not even a spoon, but a drop of tar in a barrel of honey, which does not spoil the barrel even a drop.
What I want to highlight most is the details and how Cameron treats them. Serious blunders in the film is very difficult to notice, and the fact that after the fire Arnie was burned eyebrows, I really liked. This is the detail I remember the most. And the cool thing is that until the end of the film, he still has them.
When you watch it for the first time, you don’t notice the downsides of the movie. But after a few views, you start to see the same ragged montage, think about the realism of the final chase and not as much love the scene in the police station as the first time. But the eternal image of the Terminator, its coolness and brutality simply cannot but make you watch this masterpiece with pleasure again and again.

Often the first films of trilogies or quadrologies are the best, and then the impulse of directors gradually fades. In this case, the second part still turned out better, but the first, without a doubt, excellent and unique in its own way.
Yes, the action in the first part is less than in the subsequent ones, but here not only chases and shootouts occupy an important place, but also simple human relationships. Kyle Reese is not only a warrior from a bleak future, he is also a man who has been transported to the past for the sake of love. His life and fate in this film can be called tragic. Of course, Linda Hamilton played at a high level: her transition from an ordinary woman to the courageous mother of the Leader of the Resistance is shown in detail and this transition occurred, I think, at the end of the film. It was the fear for Kyle that prompted her to take decisive action in the end, it was here that the functions of the protector characteristic of a woman mother began, due to which her character changed dramatically.
As for Arnold, the role in the Terminator is one of his two negatives. A cruel robot that does not spare people, his operations on his eye and hand are, of course, those shots that are remembered for a long time from the film, like the thumb from the second part.
The disadvantages of the film still include the appearance of Michael Bean: somehow does not fit the image of this handsome with a serious soldier from the future. In general, my assessment will still be high.
In the not-so-distant future of the 21st century, humanity will be on the verge of extinction and it will be its own fault. The world will be seized by machines, ruthless cyborgs, erasing everything in their path. From this sad in every sense of the future in the year 1984 arrives cyborg Terminator T-1000, which must kill the mother of the future savior of Earth Sarah Connor, and Kyle Reese, who must protect Sarah. The battle for the future has begun.
James Cameron’s Terminator is a unique film in the history of world cinema. This fantastic action movie with thriller elements has become a cult picture in its genre, raising the bar of such tapes to an unattainable height. The magnificent and unpredictable script, written by James Cameron, Gail Ann Heard and William Wisher Jr., is full of unexpected twists and incredible tension.
There is not a single drawback in this picture, it is really one of the best action films in the history of cinema.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was literally born to play the silent and not-so-positive (in the first part, naturally) Terminator. The perfect hit in the image that became famous, the cult phrase “I’ll be back!” and the magnetism of this character.
Michael Bean played the role of Kyle Reese, who played the Terminator antagonist. Created by Michael Bean, the character embodies heroism and sacrifice for a lofty purpose. Well coped with the role of Sarah Connor Linda Hamilton, although her character is not spelled out very clearly.
From a visual point of view, there are no complaints about the film at all. The work of the operator Adam Greenberg pleases the eye with its scale, the action scenes are still very impressive, as well as very realistic for the 80s special effects, worked out and detailed, and therefore not at all outdated.
Brad Fidel wrote an unusual and very tense soundtrack for the film, merging with the artistic structure of the film and skillfully pumping suspense.
I recommend this amazing film to all fans of classic action films and just lovers of good Hollywood cinema, because now the tape has become an unconditional classic.

Unexpectedly, she began to review films with the participation of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and, of course, did not do without the “Terminator”.
The legendary and ingenious “Judgment Day” is firmly entrenched in memory, but the first part could not see everything somehow.
Got it. I saw it.
The pleasure, of course, is colossal, with a touch of nostalgia for the militants of the "dotridesh" era. There was a lot that I didn’t understand in the second movie before. The music seems strange after modern soundtracks. And prehistoric special effects are not a minus, it’s just charming: the use of a doll, when Schwarzenegger’s hero removes his eye from his eye socket or opens his hand for repair; a funny look of a terminator without an Arnold skin, as if made of plasticine, at the end of the film.
But I can't look at the "bad" Terminator, getting used to being on the Connor side and being "Hasta la vista, baby." I get cognitive dissonance from this. It looks incredible, though. Even frightening. This is a huge robot that hunts a poor girl and kills other good state Sarahs along the way.
In general, chases and shootouts, unusual love make this film interesting, despite the fact that it is already clear how it will end.
I don’t see any flaws in Terminator, but the sequel is still better. I like Sarah Connor better in the first movie.

"The Terminator" or "liquidator," it is this word, only in the English sense, has settled deep in my soul and has lived for about fifteen years. I gave this film a quiet place near my heart, because everything dear to me and very valuable I keep there. For many boys my age, Arnold Schwarzenegger was not just some actor or a simple man in a leather jacket with a shotgun in his hand, for us it was an idol, the most not real on-screen God, whom we imitated, and whom we could watch almost endlessly. The mid-eighties, it was at that time that the first film about the robot killer was released, and the early nineties - this, as you have guessed, was the time of the premiere months of the second legendary Terminator, so this period probably completely, along and across turned upside down such a genre as an action movie before everyone's eyes - it was already a fantastic action movie, with an incredibly amazing idea. In general, the plot of the film is something brilliant and at the same time delightful, I literally admire the director and co-writer of the script James Cameron, this man created such a film that will live on for centuries, and in no case will fall dust, this will never happen. The word “Terminator” will live on in the hearts of moviegoers forever, personally I will remember this masterpiece for many years.
You're talking about things I haven't even thought about doing in the past tense.
What is Terminator for me? First of all, it’s a movie that tops my list of favorite movies, because I saw it at a very, very young age, even remember my mother quarreling with my father because he allowed me to watch what she called nasty things before going to bed. Of course, I slept later not very calmly, but still, I got great pleasure seeing on the screen, my favorite hero, even if he was in the first part on the evil side, and I as a naive child always rooted for justice and was on the side of good. This fantastic picture carries many different revolutions in life and bright discoveries, well, look, this movie made Arnold Schwarzenegger a real Hollywood star, it is even still called the Terminator, it is not strange, and for me he will forever remain in this role, let’s go on, a great success for James Cameron, it is so, before that he had one short film in the repertoire and some film about piranhas, you can even say that this is Cameron’s debut film, a successful breakthrough into the dense shell of cinema. Michael Bean, Linda Hamilton, all of them gained fame thanks to a film about a robot from the future. The budget of the first film is six and a half million dollars, well at that time it was a lot of money, and the box office, which amounted to about eighty million, made it clear to Cameron that you need to think about the continuation, urgently create a dilogy.
Pain can be controlled. It can be turned off.
For me, this movie is a king among all fantastic action films, I love the 80s and 90s only because of the release of two terminators, films that left an unforgettable imprint in my memory. A cyborg arrives on Earth from the future to kill Sarah Connor, a girl who will soon become pregnant with a boy. In the future, this boy, whom Sarah will call John, will become the leader of the rebel army, defending the Earth from robot invaders and win it. The fact that there is such a terrible topic about a gloomy future, where robots will rule the world after a nuclear catastrophe, I am not a little surprised, remember even the current science fiction films, and there too, the writers frighten us with a sinister and irreparable evil future, where everything will be very, very bad. James Cameron was right when he wrote the script, because the global nuclear catastrophe occurred in the film in 2029, not long left by this date, and our world is already filled with robots on almost all sides, and every day there are more and more conflicts between different countries. To protect Sarah Connor from the same future, from the detachment of her son sent soldiers and the future father of John Connor, the winner in the war of people and machines, Kyle Reese, who leads the fight against a cyborg from the future, in order that Sarah could give birth to mankind a savior. To sum up, a masterpiece of world cinema, more to say nothing.
This is the project that made the now super popular (positively or negatively) James Cameron famous. Before the “Terminator” he did not remove anything particularly large and successful, but this picture without any doubt became a real breakthrough for him.
“Terminator” is a fantastic action movie that tells us about one guy from the future who went back in time to save one very important girl from a vicious cyborg killer.
At one time, “Terminator” became a real sensation, because then there were not so many such special effects in the movie. But the special effects here were really great (1984). Most often, animatronics looked a little clumsy, but there is no one to blame for this, since the development of technologies of that time did not allow you to do something more qualitative, spectacular and spectacular.
Naturally, the most important advantage of the “Terminator” is the performer of the role of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Although his character had fewer than twenty sentences and a stone face, Arnold looked great in this role. It will be associated with the Terminator for a long time.
Michael Bien and Linda Hamilton also played their characters very well. Their love story looked very unusual and even interesting.
The Terminator is certainly a very good fantasy action movie with its own innovative ideas, as well as a worthy breakthrough by James Cameron.
The secret of James Cameron’s success is a win-win bet on the instinct of natural selection. The focus of his blockbusters is the struggle for the survival of species: the collision of terrestrial and alien monsters with the human race; the three-deck stratification of the passengers of a ship resurrected in the Atlantic and drowned in the Gulf of Mexico; the war of earthling colonists with blue-skinned aborigines of Pandora’s ecological paradise. In 1984, for just six million dollars, the director managed to realize on the screen the cherished dream of every self-respecting misanthrope - the nuclear genocide of the human race.
Cameron supplemented the post-apocalyptic landscape of the alternative future with the backyards of the night Los Angeles of the eighties: garbage dumps, shelters, smoked Dunskubs. The dark web of technononoir over futuristic scenery, falling into which, a person became burnt with skin on the surface of the Earth. As thin as a crunchy skull bone under the track of the soulless mechanism of history. Cameron inspiringly paints with clots of human blood the dried rust on the chrome skeleton of the future. The shade of heat the viewer could only catch a glimpse - in the bubbling layer of gelatin in the photo of Sarah Connor - a symbol of the remains of humanity dying in the ashes of nuclear war.
The Terminator seemed to embody the sticky nightmare of the German philosopher-alarmist Oswald Spengler, the first in history to remove the Julvernian pencene from the worldview of Europe on the brink of World War II. Proclaiming the human community as a flock of gifted, cruel and insatiable predators in satisfying their desires, Spengler deduced a universal formula for the existence of the human species: “The world is prey.” Man is the enemy of everyone. Killing, hating, consciously choosing victory or death. Initially imitating nature, then changing, and then raping it in increasingly sophisticated ways, a person follows the path of growing alienation from the world around him.
Technogenic life forms become a close cell for the rebellious soul of man. Great civilizations are equally great defeats. A predator who domesticates other animals to exploit them for his own ends up trapping himself. In the thirties of the last century, Spengler made a peremptory verdict: “The Lord of the world has become a slave of technology.” A half-century later, James Cameron's film will eloquently answer the main question of robotic ethics, "Am I a creature trembling or a right to have?", giving T-agent 800 a license to retroactively abortion mankind.
Once in his youth, the shooting of Cameron’s first full-length film Piranha 2 turned into a nightmare for him. Due to a lack of budget and misunderstanding with actors who spoke only Italian, the producer deprived him of the editing. But the novice perfectionist managed to steal a credit card to sneak into the editing room and bring the unfortunate horror movie to an acceptable state. It was then in a dream that he dreamed of pursuing him with persistence Erinius a terrible robot in a human shell. Cameron came up with an original and effective way to save on psychoanalysis and at the same time get rid of the paranoid obsession. A little later, he will reproduce his dream in the safe conditions of the set. And then destroy his monster, resorting to the help of the most dangerous predator on the planet – a female fighting for the future of her cub.
Because of the stinginess of the studio bosses, the director had to save literally everything. The script cost only one symbolic dollar. The soundtrack was recorded in mono mode on an antediluvian synthesizer accompanied by the roar of a cast-iron pan across the microphone. Filming of moving frames was carried out using a wheelchair instead of a camera trolley. Out of all the editing seams, the strings of puppet animation stick out. But, despite everything, Cameron still removed his own cyber fairy tale about the Iron Woodcutter, talking flat-footed iambic and preferring not to look for his heart, but to tear them with meat from the fragile bodies of his former owners.
Years later, the director of “Terminator” gradually turned into a fierce predator of the film industry, dangerous for competitors and able to wait in ambush the most successful moment for the implementation of their large-scale projects. But, as an artistic nature, he still suffers from nightmares, from which he occasionally draws ideas for his films. Therefore, the war for our future will continue in the recreated movie universes for decades. The only thing left for us is to nod when he once again proposes a brilliant algorithm in its simplicity: “Come with me if you want to live.”
This film of the young James Cameron was the beginning of the “star way” not only for the director himself (who, before the film “Terminator”, had only two frankly failed tapes “Piranha 2: Spawning” and a short film “Xenogenesis”). But for the performers of the leading roles, Michael Bien (who subsequently received roles in such significant films as Aliens and The Abyss, filmed by the same Cameron) and Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom, despite many other successful roles, most viewers remember precisely by the image of a cyborg killer created in this tape.
Subsequently, Cameron admitted that even then, he dreamed of creating the image of a robot made of liquid metal, which was supposed to pursue the main character of the film, but the technology of that time did not allow Cameron to create his plan (he will implement his plan in 7 years, in the film “Terminator 2”). But, despite the modest budget (only $ 6 million), it is safe to say that Cameron survived from the funds provided to him maximum. "Terminator" became not only one of the style-forming years of the 80s, but also a real milestone in the history of cinema. The plot of the film tells us about a young student Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton, who was 28 years old at the time of filming). Who must be killed by a future cyborg assassin (Arnold Schwarzenegger). But not everything is so hopeless for Sarah, for her protection, so Kyle Reeves is sent from the future (Michael Bien, unlike Schwarzenegger, Bien's character is a person). Nowadays, this storyline may seem simple and unintriguing. But no wonder, it was after this tape that Cameron was talked about as a director capable of making a serious movie. Cameron managed to create an interesting and dynamic tape, despite a modest budget, the tape looks very colorful (for the mid-eighties), and a truly intriguing finale of the picture will not leave indifferent any of the audience.
The result: an interesting and dynamic film by James Cameron with future screen star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Even if you’re not a fan of Arnie, Cameron’s story and direction shouldn’t disappoint you.

For a long time I wanted to revise the legendary franchise called “Terminator”, but somehow the hands did not reach this. Once, like all users of kinopoisk.ru, the site recommended the second part of this film to me. Naturally, I decided to refresh my memory, but only starting over. Now I understand that it turns out that the first part I have never seen, and therefore the impression of this I will try to shove into my verdict.
To be honest, the film didn’t surprise me. Now, when people have seen all sorts of hyper-cool special effects, plasticine iron they definitely will not surprise. Of course, I belong to the category of such people, and that is why it was funny to see all this. It was pretty cool then, but now...
Firstly, the musical accompaniment was greatly weakened. The monophony in such a serious film just cut the ear. This is not a good thing at all.
Second, the story seemed too seductive. The endless running in the subsequent series looks exciting, but here is very boring.
And finally, it's a bit of a bad installation, as in the scene with the explosion of a truck. Why do we have to show the same thing fifty times?
As for the actors, I discovered Michael Bien for the first time in this film, and to confess he amazed me, if only because in addition to charm he has an acting gift. Personally, it seems to me that playing a savage virgin is not so easy as it seems at first glance, and he coped with this role with a hurrah. But he has to press, as the role of the main character was not played by the likeness of Paris Hilton.
Undoubtedly, Linda Hamilton is just a movie miracle and one of the main trump cards of the “Terminator”. On the one hand, she had absolutely no role. It’s just a template for any stupid horror, but she was able to spark her, thereby proving that she is a real actress.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is cool, but he didn't shock me. Although, this is possible because the role of a tough uncle has become his label these days.
In general, we have a rather boring film by today’s standards, but judging by those times, it is certainly a mega-blockbuster. But excuse me, "Nightmare on Elm Street" still looks cool. Personally, I think watching The Terminator is like reading War and Peace is necessary for self-education.

We already know about this masterpiece of cinema. The word “terminator” is already commonplace. But then, when this film came out... something unimaginable was happening.
What I love about this film is its atmosphere. I want to pay tribute to the entire crew and others who worked on it. The film was able to clearly and clearly describe the “future”. Even somehow very well turned out for almost the first film of James Cameron.
The film has a script. Everything is very spectacular and beautiful and logical. I was also impressed by Mark Goldblatt’s montage. Workshop. Also at the height of Brad Fidel.
What is "Terminator" for me:
This film is unique. It's gone. The film is dominated by night time, which gives more atmosphere. You might say, “You’re all about the atmosphere.” The main thing for me is to have an atmosphere. I don’t care what the special effects are (in the sense that I won’t shout “I don’t believe!”). In cinema, the main atmosphere and emotions, meaning, idea. The Terminator has it all. It's not a stupid action movie. It's a revolutionary film.
