In order not to repeat the words of thousands of fans about the amazing special effects and the great genius of Cameron, I will briefly mention 10 reasons why you should watch this film.
1. Legend. The first part is not as important as the second. But that claim is wrong. The First Terminator isn’t just a typical 80s action movie about bad guys and good guys. This is a story about human irresponsibility, survival and the horrors of fighting artificial intelligence. It is considered one of the best films ever made in Hollywood.
2. Schwarzenegger. This is the movie that brought Arnie to the world. And not without reason. Icy eyes, completely devoid of emotion. Mechanical and very precise movements. Throughout the film, the actor never smiles. Neither Stallone, nor Willis, nor any modern actor could play this.
3. You can hardly find a more creepy and cruel robot in other movies of the 80s or 90s (2000s, present day). But the design of the iron monster was not invented yesterday!
4. Atmosphere. This film is the quintessence of the 80s. Music, punks (the dawn of this subculture in the United States), cars, the night city, the clothes of the heroes ... Welcome to the past.
5. Plot. For the militants of that time, the plot was a secondary (third-rate?) task. Here he takes a worthy first place. The atypical story, neatly presented by the director, slowly reveals itself in all its glory. It is only by the end of the film that we are confronted with the horror of which we first become aware.
6. Fear and survival. In a sense, the first Terminator can be called a horror movie (in contrast to the radiant second part, which already goes more to the atmosphere of the action movie). For the whole film, there will be almost no reason to laugh, but you will repeatedly witness the cold-blooded cruelty of an iron machine encased in a fragile body shell. The appearance of the cyborg, revealed at the end of the film, in childhood scared me to nervous hiccups.
7. Precipitation. There are movies that you don’t want to go back to. And there are very few such pictures that leave behind food for thought. They want to come back. In a year, in 5-10 years. Terminator is the second category. I am sure that after many years the picture will still be relevant.

Each of us watched Judgment Day. It was so beautiful that as good as the first part of this cult series about temporary paradoxes and robots, "Terminator", the beginning of the beginning, will always be in the shadow of a successor. Oh, by the way!
While watching many old movies, you have to make an age discount. With the "Killer Cyborg" (so called the hero of the article distributors of the era of the decline of socialism) this does not want to do. Everything looks quite impressive in terms of entertainment. James “Special Effects Master” Cameron is still good, especially given the small budget.
Three-quarters of timekeeping occurs at night, very dark and deserted. In only a few scenes, the viewer will see more than three people. This, in my opinion, very well conveys the chillingly cold atmosphere of the film - there is only you [Sarah] and he [Terminator].
A surprise for me was the love story, and quite ironically sad (watch the movie and you will understand).
The main characters are a separate story. Kyle, a messenger from the future, smiles only a couple of times in the movie. Sarah is a young and cheerful girl who is forced to become harsh and courageous, and the viewer will survive the changes with her. And the Terminator, the Model 101 800 Series, is a ruthless cyborg pursuing his goal with the ferocity of a tiger. The latter was played, as you know, by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He learned how to handle weapons, getting used to shots, learning to disassemble “barrels” with his bare hands. The result was not long in coming. Every second of screen time, you feel that it is a soulless cyborg in front of you, and not “the kind of robot that a person plays.”
Watch this movie, it's not so much an action movie as a horror thriller. Look for Arnie's charisma. Take a look at how it all started!
It is difficult to write objective reviews of your favorite movies. In any case, the text will be imbued with love and adoration.
I watched the first part of the Terminator franchise at a relatively mature age, shortly before the release of the 4th part, when the 2nd and 3rd parts were viewed many times. The more interesting thing is that I loved Part 1 more than any other, contrary to most. And it’s not even that this is the beginning of a legend or that with a relatively low budget, we managed to shoot something amazing. Perhaps this is partly due to the actors: one of the favorites, Michael Bean and, of course, the young and beautiful Arnold Schwarzenegger. And the image of a cold-blooded killer robot (although in the film Kyle Reese calls the Terminator a cyborg, but it is still not a cyborg, but a robot) performed by Arnie, in my opinion, is more successful than the role of a positive hero of subsequent parts. However, the main merit of this love for the film lies not in this, but in its atmosphere. I can't describe it in words, it just feels like it. This is not the merit of something specific, namely the totality of all the pluses in one picture. I'm going to try to capture a part of that atmosphere.
In the first place , I will pay attention to detail. For example, something as small as Reese's sky survey in the scene just after escaping from the cops from the supermarket. This was noted in the book, which described him looking around for HK (flying robots) out of habit. Such small things are not striking, but this approach should be appreciated. The installation, in my unprofessional opinion, is also excellent. There are no ridiculous gluings or noticeable inconsistencies, everything is shown in detail from different angles. The sensation of hacking does not occur for a minute. Liaps in the film at least ample, but while watching the eyes they do not cling to. Just this film can not get bored so that there is a desire to engage in the search for joints. Quite the contrary: they do not want to notice.
Special effects, action scenes - all this looks great even today, after 31 years. You can only find fault with the scene with eye microsurgery, where Arnie's artificiality is very noticeable, but even there they tried to twist as much as possible. Otherwise, no complaints. The solution is simple: all the tricks were performed in reality, with various tricks. As a result, a movie about a movie is more interesting to watch than another feature film. As a consequence, number two, it’s more enjoyable to look at than any Transformers, where the number of special effects is skyrocketing, but they remain bland and unnatural. I would like to note the design of the vehicles, especially the T-800. It's the object of my special love. Arnold’s body design perfectly complements the overall portrait. Truly, the design of cars for centuries - it is quite relevant today.
The soundtrack is somewhat outdated. They do not call them bad fingers. Especially successful soundtrack in the scene of the tension in the parking lot, where Kyle was sitting with Sarah in Cadillac, and the T-800 was looking for them. One of the songs played at the Tech Noir club went to its own playlist. And, of course, the main sound theme from the opening credits, which became a cult in the future. In general, consider the soundtrack successful.
The plot of the first part is very thoughtful. Of course, there is a violation of the cause-and-effect relationship here (in defense I will say that there are no hints of documentary films in the graph). As a compensation, there is an interesting plot twist. Yes, later a similar story-fiction was used countless times, but it is foolish to evaluate the 1984 film when projecting to our time, without making adjustments for honorable age. Special attention deserves an excellent ending. There is no extreme between “bad” and “good.” Here, the characters are revealed to the end: Reese’s desire to protect Sarah and complete the mission to the end, unwavering tenacity in fulfilling his task T-800, the true morale of Sarah. The theme of the confrontation between man and machine is fully revealed. After watching, there is no doubt why this film is so loved all over the world and why, like its characters, it travels through time, almost without losing its positive qualities.
Result: suitable, to view mandatory, but better look with cut scenes. No review will be enough to list all the advantages or interesting details. I also recommend watching the movie, which is very interesting.
This review would hardly have come to light were it not for a number of unfortunate circumstances. There was a time when this immortal masterpiece of James Cameron in descriptions and presented did not need - it was watched by everyone. But years passed, and the Maestro left the director’s chair of “Terminator”, and the franchise, whose fate completely passed into the hands of the studio, did not receive any development, but only was exploited and turned into a cruel abuse of the feelings of fans of the first two parts. But the worst part is that the younger generation, which I belong to, may soon associate Terminator not with Cameron’s creation, but with the misunderstandings that followed him. So I just want to remind you what this film was and is.
I know that the second part of the saga is more popular with fans, but in my humble opinion, the best Terminator is the first. This is the beginning of an interesting story. Not much has been told and shown about the future in order to preserve the frightening unknown of what awaits humanity in a war with machines. However, the idea that technological advances made by people to improve their lives will become their main enemy is fully revealed. It's 2015. Machines do not kill people, but make them more dependent on themselves, so the theme of the first Terminator is more relevant than ever. The film came out in 1984. Just imagine how much he anticipated the events of the coming days. Could it be that Kyle Reese, who came from the future, is James Cameron himself, and he was already trying to help us win the war on computers?
And yet I personally admire the film not so much the idea as its presentation. There are a lot of pictures that touch on the topic of the future and time travel, but often they are boring, and the main task of the writers is not to confuse the viewer in the chain of events and not to get confused themselves. Here, the story with temporary changes is not at all confused, and it looks as clear as it is interesting. The film carries a semantic load, but does not overload the viewer with it.
I was also astonished and struck by the fact that the question of saving humanity is not solved at the global level, but at the level of the simple family. A son sends a man back in time to save his mother and thus be born. The future of the human race is in the hands of three people. And the director gives it more than a logical explanation.
The Terminator performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger is simply magnificent. In my opinion, the image of a cold-blooded killing machine suits him even more than the role of a good savior. He manages to be not only insanely charismatic (while not leaving the image of a soulless robot), but also damn scary and scary. And it does not matter that the small budget of the film did not allow to make the cyborg in human form to the end realistic, since makeup and rubber mask in some scenes betray themselves. Cameron and Arnie are able to scare and make believe what is happening on the screen and without modern visual effects!
The gloomy image of the Terminator turned the film rather than into an action movie, as the second part became, but into a thriller. And a cyborg killer in this genre seems to me more successful. And how long and almost inconclusive the main characters try to kill him, gives the picture an atmosphere of terrifying hopelessness.
But even in such a cruel story there is room for a love line. Cameron shows that even in such eerie conditions, this strong feeling can make a person happy. And yet there were very few happy moments. But this is the harsh reality – for the sake of achieving a higher goal, you sometimes have to sacrifice a lot.
To describe every detail of the film further is simply meaningless, because it is unlikely that “Terminator” would have turned out so brilliant if the impressions about it would fit into the framework of an ordinary article. I just want to say that everyone has done their job. The actors play perfectly, a beautiful soundtrack complements the atmosphere of the picture, and shootouts and chases capture even after 30 years.
This was the first Terminator. Incredibly interesting, unusual, exciting, scary moments and a little sad. That's how he'll be remembered.
" And the Machines rose from the ashes of nuclear fire, and a war was waged to destroy mankind.
So 31 years ago was the beginning of one of the greatest franchises in the history of world cinema. True, in 1984 - someone did not even know about this, most likely even James Cameron himself did not suspect that his fantastic thriller about an ineradicable cyborg - a killer from the future, not much is not small - makes the history of the action genre, leaving the groundwork for the creation of countless sequels and spin-offs of his, doomed soon to become a cult offspring ... For most moviegoers, the most beloved is the recognized classic of the genre “Judgment Day” – the second, released 7 years after the original tape, and forever changed Hollywood entertainment film about the confrontation of people and machines. He can also be recognized as the best in the whole movie series, although there are certainly those Puritans who prefer superblockbuster 1991 - a small, evil compact thriller in neon shades. And you can understand such viewers - in the very first "Terminator" the incredible, almost electrified energy of the whole cinema of the 80s is concentrated. This is a quick montage, and synthetic music, and technical visual effects, as well as the theme of the military confrontation of superpowers in the conditions of the Cold War. In addition, there are obvious references to George Orwell from his 1984. A peculiar feature of the film is its looped plot - the future is impossible without the past, while the past is the present itself creates the possibility of such a future. Plus, bright, memorable musical compositions of the disco era – together with the intense and authentic play of the actors involved in the project and the outstanding direction of the unsurpassed luminary of commercial American cinema James Cameron, all these components create one of the most memorable films in history. Although personally, in my opinion, Terminator 2 surpasses the first part in almost all respects, especially with regard to the main visual effects. In the continuation, along with improved technical special effects, the creators used high-quality computer graphics, which at that time just appeared, and began to seep into Hollywood cinema.
Today, it is almost impossible to believe, but the film “Terminator” was for a pittance, even at that time – the film cost only some $ 6.5 million! A team of professionals who were burning with this project gathered: screenwriters William Wisher Jr. and Gail Ann Heard, along with the perfectionist director James Cameron himself (just beginning his glorious path), wrote a fascinating, dramatic and frightening story based on a terrible dream told by Cameron. Little-known actors at that time Michael Bien, Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who woke up after a real star of the action genre (before that, known in the United States mainly due to his outstanding achievement in sports, as well as the role of Conon - a barbarian in the film of the same name), played their roles very convincingly. This is especially true for the incredibly organically blended into the image of the insensitive cyborg T-800 model 101 Schwarzenegger, which went down in the history of cinema as an invincible death machine - a mighty squirrel in a punk jacket of dark glasses with automatic pistols at the forefront. Despite the verboseness and negativity of the role, this character was charismatic with his brutal straightforwardness, and was remembered by the audience even more than the main positive characters. However, then James Cameron “cheated” by dragging the T-800 “on the bright side”, making him in the legendary sequel already the defender of the future leader of mankind in the war of people machines John Connor. However, it is worth noting that in the second part it was a completely different robot - just the same model, and the main star of the film - Arnold Schwarzenegger by that time already firmly entrenched in the title of a cool hero - a loner, and could no longer play a negative role in such a picture. And, hand on heart, we admit that being the savior of the world for “steel Arnie” still goes more than being its destroyer.
It is only curious where the franchise will move next, after the just released Genesis actually rewrote this canonical history, which has become for many years for the Terminator universe. However, while "older" The T-800 has not yet figured out its "young" version, and arrived in the cold - neon 1984 - the second of the distant, post-apocalyptic 2029 - cyborg tearing a page out of the phone directory is sent to search for Sarah Connor; and sent to the past by her son John Resistance soldier Kyle Reese - in turn tries to save her. But are there people who have not seen this famous picture that I would retell this classic story?! I'm sure there aren't. Therefore, from the description of the plot I will go directly to the creation of the film.
The first "Terminator" is more of a hybrid of science fiction, action and "paranoid" thriller, in contrast to the subsequent parts of the saga about the war of people against machines. And the main emphasis of Cameron did not at all on the action component of the picture (it is worth admitting that it was made for its time simply brilliantly, especially in the great sequel), but on the story itself; giving it some philosophical tuning forks, and closer to the open ending turning into a parable about something gloomy that is coming in the future, and that it is impossible to change... In the second film, Cameron changed the plot of the film - now the characters could change the terrible future and prevent war. But along with this, the horror element that was in the original tape almost disappeared from the plot. Starting with the “Rise of the Machines”, the authors engaged in the development of the concept of possible sequels relied primarily on the spectacular technical capabilities of the project, thereby turning a smart fantasy film into a purely entertaining, action movie based on advanced special effects. Therefore, both the script problems of the paintings and the casting of actors for the main roles were put on the background. In fact, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the only one who appeared in all five films, and this is if you consider his “painted” for a spectacular episode – a comeo on the computer face for “Savior” – the only film in the series, the plot of which unfolds entirely in the future, during this very war of people and machines. All other performers invariably changed from series to series, thereby preventing the saga from being perceived as a whole. The fifth film, in an attempt to break this pernicious tradition, decided to focus on the script, which resulted in the franchise almost restarting. And although it happened only nominally, so to speak, within the framework of the entire movie series, after Genesis, Terminator went on a new, unexplored path of “variable” universes. There are many questions left, the main of which is the unchanging – when will Skynet finally fall? In the meantime, in anticipation of the continuation, there is a great reason to review the entire series. It is that there will be no doubt about it. He always comes back...
Lately, I’ve had the habit of dividing everything into categories. Including my favorite movies, of which I have a lot. There are good movies for once, for many times, favorite movies of my childhood and so on. But there are also legendary films – these films I first watched or once in childhood and have already forgotten, or once saw in poor quality / translation / scraps. What unites them is that it was only a few years later that I rediscovered them. I saw them in a new way, realized their importance both for millions of fans around the world and for cinema in general, loved them with all my heart. I will start with the legendary action movie James Cameron, which I watched after the second and third parts.
I came across time for you.
In 2029, Skynet declared war on humanity. As a result of a long war of people and machines, Skynet, not wanting to admit defeat, decides on an unusual tactical move - to send in 1984 a cyborg, the perfect Terminator killer, to kill a woman Sarah Connor, whose unborn son John Connor will lead the people against Skynet. A machine indistinguishable from a man whose only goal is to kill Sarah is sent into the past, and he will not stop until he completes his mission. However, people manage to send a young fighter Kyle Reese, who must protect Sarah from the Terminator.
Thanks to this film, we learned about James Cameron, who, allegedly, the plot of the film literally dreamed. Let's start with the story. At first glance, it is quite simple - the killer pursues the victim, but her bodyguard stands in the way of the killer. However, there are more serious reasons: the girl is being pursued by the killer for something that has not yet happened, but will happen in the future. That he would kill in cold blood anyone who stood in his way. That the murderer is not a man, but a soulless machine. The concept of time travel, possible time paradoxes and incredible technologies of the future gives the ordinary action movie, and then the franchise, a unique style.
Separately, I would like to note computer special effects that recreate the gloomy future in Kyle Reese's dreams, colorful explosions in the chase scenes, surgery in the hotel room (just horror!), and of course, the Terminator himself. Metallic glittering skeleton with blood-red eyes. Lately, it has come to seem to me to be unbelievably frightening—how this power, this power, this willingness to follow the established order to “liquidate.” All this is shown in the final scene, where the Terminator appears before the viewer in its true form.
Not to mention the soundtrack – one of the most recognizable compositions in cinema. Brad Fidel wrote monographic music due to budget constraints, and the famous mechanical sound in the main theme of the film was created by knocking a cast-iron pan on the microphone! Needless to say, sometimes genius is simple! And if you evaluate the whole soundtrack in full, it perfectly conveys the gloomy nature of the film, paints an impenetrable night when all the murders are committed, corresponds to the dark goal of the main villain. In addition, it shows how you can play the same melody in a completely different way, to illustrate a completely different action.
I'll be back.
And now the actors. The trio of main performers created the brightest images. And start with the hero, whose name is the film itself. It's the Terminator. This character has received worldwide recognition. His face is an impenetrable mask, zero emotions, and the unblinking look cannot but cause tremors. He wears only dark clothes, a leather jacket, dark glasses that hide the result of a terrible surgery. He is verbose, armed to the teeth and very dangerous. For Arnold Schwarzenegger, this role became a landmark, he repeatedly returned to it in sequels, repeatedly parodied in other projects. I just want to say that he was great as a cold-blooded killer who is not afraid of anyone and nothing, who has every chance to fulfill his mission, which no one can stop.
In the few hours we had together, we loved a lifetime's worth.
The indestructible Terminator is confronted by two very ordinary people: Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), a student who works as a waitress, and Kyle Reese (Michael Bean), a Resistance fighter who came from the future to protect Sarah. While Reese struggles with a machine from the future with the weapons of the past, Sarah struggles to come to terms with her great destiny of becoming, as she put it, the mother of the future. She is afraid of this future that is about to be destroyed, she does not know how to become the strong woman Reese tells her about, how not to lose her mind from all this. And, despite all this, she never seemed to me typical of militants “lady in trouble”. Still, she feels some inner strength of spirit that helps her, gives her strength in critical moments. It will be fully manifested in the day of judgment. In the meantime, the girl needs protection. Her defender is a young fighter Kyle Reese. He is gloomy, silent, constantly in that world plunged into war, destruction, chaos. Where friends die every day, where darkness reigns, where you have to walk on bones and skulls. These visions do not let a fighter go, even in a better world that has not yet been engulfed by war. Therefore, its frown and sharpness are explained. However, in some scenes we see Kyle completely different - brooding, vulnerable, capable of deep feelings. He is ready to fight for a girl who does not yet understand how strong she is, who will become so because of him. He's willing to die for her. And although the finale of the picture has long been known, for these characters - Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese - we feel with all our hearts.
Terminator - this film (as well as its sequels) also attracts with its speed and dynamics. Everything happens almost in the present time, the action ends when it begins. This, in my opinion, is a huge plus of the picture - the action movie does not seem long. It corresponds to all the canons of the genre, while possessing an unusual idea for the action movie (time travel), foreshadowing the era of the post-apocalyptic genre. This film was the beginning of a series of successes of director James Cameron, which continues to this day. He gave the world unforgettable images. It still causes scientific debate about time travel. We can go on for a long time. All this will only confirm the fair possession of the film title Movie Legend!

On the eve of the release on the wide screen of the film "Terminator: Genesis" film studio "Metro Goldwyn Mayer" decided to repeat the rental of the film "Terminator" 1984, including in my city. Of course, I could not miss such a chance and immediately bought a ticket for the favorite film since childhood, without even looking at the cost. I’ve always wanted to see my favorite movies on the big screen, but it’s a different magic. The film was broadcast in the original, with Russian subtitles and funny to say I watched this movie almost 30 times in all available translations, first watched it in the original.
The film is monumental, like the letters "THE TERMINATOR" on the screensaver, which shine into the distance. There is absolutely no unnecessary scene, no unnecessary detail, no unnecessary character.
90 percent of screen time takes place on the nightly, trash-stained, filthy backyards of Los Angeles. Director James Cameron very skillfully showed a decaying and degraded world that is bound to soon change beyond recognition. And for a much worse existence. Scenes from the future that show the war between people and machines are similar, not to the patriotic pathetic show as in the trailers for the upcoming "Terminator: Genesis" and not to the sweet Follout world in "Terminator". May the savior come, and this is a hellish slaughterhouse, in which the fire, smoke, the roar of explosions, the tart smell of decayed bones, the sweet-disgusting rotting flesh and the sharp tart twisted hot metal, the defeated robots mix. The number of explosions is as high as anywhere else, even in hell easier than in this version of the future. And the sick, charred ragged people eating rats and some other bourda, daily destroyed by infiltrators, who, like a cancerous tumor, penetrate deeper into the rear and devouring such improvised worlds of unfortunate grimaces. This is probably the worst future any movie has ever painted for me.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, he is not a man, he is a robot, an indestructible rock, a punishing metal hand, a rider of the apocalypse. Throughout the film, he went through the life of Sarah Connor, destroying everything that was dear to her. Like a canner knife, he ripped through the entire police station, leaving behind a mountain of corpses and leaving behind a flame. guided only by software code, the supercomputer is represented by absolute evil. But it’s so cool that you can’t help but empathize with the metal dummy, he is the central figure of this film, the greatest symbol of the film age.
Michael Bean, I will say at once a very worthy film actor, in this film played his best role. Kyle Reese. A tragic soldier who saw nothing in this life but death, pain, misfortune. Nineteen-year-old young man with the eyes of a seventy-year-old old man was able not to become heartbroken and sincerely love Sarah Connor by going on a feat for her, having gone through time and that the most striking (although it all sounds playful and pathetic), in the film looks as sincere and natural as it is possible to remove it at all. And how Michael Bean got used to the role, these emotions that I heard in his voice cannot be conveyed to any dubber, but he is sincerely crying! BRAVO!
Linda Hamilton is a secondary actress, but one role is Sarah Connor and you can already forever record her in the Olympus of Hollywood fame. A timid waitress who becomes a warrior, how brilliantly it was embodied on screen. And this is her phrase, "Only pain..." “So much pain” addressed to Reese and a sincere tear, I myself damned cried today.
Ginger, Sarah's girlfriend, tells her as they both flaunt in front of a mirror in anticipation of a free Friday evening, "No mortal man is worthy of such beauty," and in confirming her words, a combat metal frame crushes her into dust. And the metaphor with the answering machine "And machines need love" and we all, despite the hooliganism of the strapped robot choking in the drool of enthusiasm for him.
P.S. Despite the fact that this film I know by heart, with the sacred phrase “And the machines rose from the ashes of a nuclear fire” blood as the first time cold in the veins.
Fantastic!

Who was James Cameron before The Terminator? It all started with the disastrous film Piranha 2: Spawning, when the filming of the film came to an end Cameron fell ill with a severe form of flu and in wild delirium he had a dream that the girl was chased by a muscular man with a glowing red eye. When Piranha 2 failed, Cameron decided to pursue his vision. Many companies rejected Cameron's script, but Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer agreed. The film became successful and cult. Yes, there are no aliens, no galactic wars, no other planets in the film, but that does not prevent me from calling the Terminator fiction with a capital letter.
The actors played very well, especially Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Bean and Linda Hamilton. "Terminator" glorified Arnold Schwarzenegger or as you can call him "iron Arnie", because in this film Arnie said his great phrase - I'll be back! well, lesser known - fuck you, asshole. Arnold played a good cyborg killer, he made an unforgettable image. Friends of Arnie told him that the role of the robot will put an end to his career, in fact, this unspoken and harsh robot became a real cult, for Arnie opened a very high career for the Austrian in Hollywood. Michael Bean played no worse, he also told many famous phrase - come with me if you want to live. Linda Hamilton also played great. A very intriguing story of the future, thanks to which we listened attentively to Kyle Reese, a gloomy atmosphere and a sense of absolute hopelessness, a strong soundtrack, a good acting, an interesting plot. special effects are good for a low-budget film and for the eighties and appreciate their ingratitude to Cameron. The film is a legend, cult, classic and masterpiece.
More than 30 years have passed since the release of this cult film. For this amount of time, the universe of the film has overgrown a huge number of fans. That's not surprising. After all these years, the tape still looks great. It’s hard to imagine how great she looked then. But maybe it's time to stop. After all, singing the praises of this wonderful creation Cameron can be endless.
Plot. In 2029, in a post-apocalyptic future, there is a war between rebellious AI machines and humans. Humanity is on the verge of extinction. One of the killer cyborgs is sent to 1984 to kill a girl named Sarah Connor. If he succeeds, she will not give birth to a son who will later become a hero and win the war of mankind against artificial intelligence. Soldier Kyle Reese is also from the future to stop the Terminator.
I have only 2 complaints about the storyline. The first is the somewhat illogical behavior of the T-800. His goal is to kill Sarah Connor at any cost. After a while, he gets out of the car from the police. There is a feeling that this is not a soulless killing machine, but a real person. In the entire film, however, only this scene raised questions. The second drawback is that the whole picture is, in fact, running and playing hide-and-seek with people with the Terminator. Quite a little time is devoted to the war of 2029, it is shown here quite briefly.
Atmosphere. It's been a huge job. Everything is done very cleverly, beautifully and elegantly. Everyone here is in their place. From the actors separately want to distinguish “Arnie” and Michael Bean. Thanks to their convincing game, the confrontation between a brutal cyborg and a brave man looks truly epic. I want to see what is happening on the screen.
Special effects. Stunning chases, impressive explosions and dynamic shootings. For that time, it was an incredible achievement. Even now it all looks great together!
Music. Of course, the soundtrack of the composer Brad Fidel added to the picture "sharp". Together with the chase and spectacular finale is combined perfectly.
Result. This film is considered "legendary". Not seeing it is a real crime. Do not deprive yourself of this opportunity under any circumstances.
“Terminator” is the first significant film of the notorious director James Cameron, who for his merits received a star on the Walk of Fame. And Terminator played a big role in that.
History in our time seems pretty cluttered. Some villain in the face of a cyborg returns from the future to the past to kill the young mother of the future savior of mankind. Of course, he is followed by a hero who must save a young girl. So begins the confrontation between the terrible Terminator and Kyle Reese - a soldier. And along the way, we learn that a time loop has formed without an entry point. But who cares about these things?
There is a big difference between modern militants and militants thirty years ago. Of course, it's special effects. As history will show, Cameron truly has a rich imagination. Only in 1984, there was no technical ability to bring everything to the screen. But Cameron, forced to do so little, nevertheless made a film so spectacular and fascinating that even today it looks hurried. Of course, a skinless robot looks more like a tin can, but explosions, despite their scale, look much better than in modern films. Still, it's a full-scale shoot.
Sarah Connor is still a girl in this movie. Dreamy, awkward, naive, a little clumsy - it's just amazing what a huge difference lies between her and Sarah in the second part. Linda Hamilton in this case very well suited for this role. Michael Bean, in turn, successfully coped with the role of a man whose life is continuous adversity and war. He does not know what smiles, jokes, carelessness are. And, of course, one cannot but mention Arnold Schwarzenegger, for whom the role of the Terminator is one of the most iconic in his career. Arnold did his best in preparing for the film, bringing the action to automatism, learning to strictly control facial expressions, so in his Terminator you really feel something mechanical, cold, dead, frightening.
The movie was very dynamic, it successfully selected transitions between scenes. I never for a second was distracted from watching, completely immersed in the atmosphere of the film, and after all, few films of this genre can cause such interest in me! “Terminator” is the case when the classic does not age and is able to deliver the pleasure of viewing any generation. For those who have not seen it, it is necessary to see it!
Every great director, once began with some not be a film, which then carried the title of "cult". Sam Raimi distinguished himself "Evil dead", Stephen Spielberg got "Duel" and "Jaws", but the Canadian guy James Cameron has created almost one of the most significant paintings in the history of cinema and the name of this creation "Terminor".
Terminator is a killer robot who is sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor, lest she give birth to her future son John, who should lead the cyborg resistance in 2029. Whatever happens to this tragic correction of history, the resistance sends Kyle Reese, a soldier, to save Sarah from a cyborg.
Here is a twisted and at the same time simple story, which in our 21st century is perceived as something fresh and interesting.
The film appears as a fantastic action movie, and yes, it is more than justified by the fact that the antihero himself is a killer robot and the fact that there are episodes of the future in the film. But the very atmosphere of the film can also be frightening, throwing the picture not only in the direction of action, but also a thriller, a horror film. And this can be justified, since the film came out in the era of horror.
Although the film and the budget is not so large, but probably such a scale that there is in the film can envy more than one action movie of that time and the present. Here we have chases, and a lot of shootings, explosions, and even a post-apocalyptic future. And although many people may not agree with me now, even with such ridiculous money, this film can be considered head and shoulders above many modern fantasy action films.
The cinus of this film is the actors. Michael Bean playing Reese perfectly fit into the role and this. He is a soldier, but a soldier not from an army base, where there is a rocking station or all the pleasures for leisure, but a soldier from the future, where there is a war between people and machines, where people starve and die like flies, although there are not so many of them. There is also Lance Henriksen in the role of a detective who is a wild skeptic, and, by the way, this actor was supposed to play the killer robot himself, but fate decreed otherwise and in the future we will see him in many films where he will play bad guys.
T-800, aka Terminator, aka Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thanks to Arnie, the image of the Terminator looks impressive and scary. Schwarzenegger perfectly fit into the role of an indestructible thug, under the skin of which are not ordinary bones and meat. Who only his eyes are able to frighten absolutely anyone, not the good or the bad guy.
Many people who have watched modern cinema will say that the film sucks or its time is long gone. And I will say that “The Terminator” is an excellent fantastic action movie, which was directed by almost the coolest director in the world. The film, which gave not only an excellent story and a cult character, but also became almost a household name in the genre of a fantastic action movie. And James Cameron gave way to one guy who is very motivating, plays great in films of this genre and is famous not only for his titles in bodybuilding, but also for the phrase: "I'll be back."

Did James Cameron foresee the significance of his first film? Did he see the potential in it and could he have imagined what his film would be like? I think not.
It’s 2015 and a couple of months later, the fifth part of the cult franchise about the terminator comes out. Moreover, as early as 2017 and 2018, two more Terminator films titled Untitled Terminator 2 and Untitled Terminator 3, respectively, have been announced. What these films will be is not yet clear. Well, we'll see.
31 years have passed since the release at that time of a really unknown film with unknown actors from an unknown director. This unknown director revealed to the world the universe of terminators, revealed to the world the Australian Arnold Schwarzenegger, and finally declared himself. What would have happened to Schwarzenegger’s acting fate without participation in this film, would the world see further Cameron’s films if he hadn’t directed The Terminator? Nobody knows. Now I don’t want to talk about the film itself, I want to talk more about its legacy.
Back in 1984, it was clear that James Cameron was a very confident and courageous director and with each subsequent film he only gained momentum proving this. It feels like each of his new films has to jump above the head of his previous brother. This excitement to do better and better, to present something new, to use and create new technologies for filming their films probably originated in the head of Cameron.
The Terminator itself is a very bold and complex film for its years. In 2015, it looks fresh and cool. The generation that grew up on Transformers, The Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy will probably not be penetrated, but for everyone who grew up in the 90s, this film has long ceased to be just a movie. For many, "Terminator" has become a cult film, a classic of the genre. Cameron managed to create a truly fantastic action movie, loved by millions. Creating from improvised materials, with a hell of a meager budget, Cameron created history.
Of course, you can look for all sorts of flaws in the film and you will definitely find them, but believe the film, this will not get worse. Schwarzenegger will not get worse in the image of a killer cyborg, he will only get cooler and more epic in the second part. Cameron will not become less talented director, he will give unconditional classics in the form of the second part in 7 years. It won’t get any worse for the movie itself. Yes, in the end, "Terminator" should be appreciated at least for the fact that thanks to this film, the second part will be released later, but we talk about this in another series.

The road to a thousand li begins with the first step.
Nowadays, it is already very difficult to talk about a film like The Terminator (1984) outside the context of its historical significance, so do not be surprised if much of the review turns out to be devoted to this element, rather than the film itself.
So, “The Terminator” is perhaps the first truly hit project by James Cameron. The main plot canvas is the confrontation of those who arrived from the future hunter (in this role is directly the Terminator, a cybernetic organism created to destroy people, performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who should destroy a seemingly almost helpless victim (in this case, young Sarah Connor performed by Linda Hamilton), and her defender (resistance soldier Kyle Reese performed by Michael Bien). Naturally, the hunter is much stronger, so the chances of the heroes to escape initially look unprofitable. Against the backdrop of this confrontation, we see the development of the love line between Sarah and Kyle and, much more importantly for the Terminator universe, the transformation of Sarah Connor from a girl who “cannot even deal with her checkbook” into a man who will teach her son to fight armies of machines and not to retreat in the face of circumstances. Perhaps it is the idea that you can never give up, you can not stop fighting, even when all the circumstances against you and the situation seems hopeless, is the main idea in this film.
With regard to actors, I would like to note a good contrast between Schwarzenegger and Bien. Against the background of the Iron Arnie, Michael does not look like a hero at all, which once again emphasizes the initial inequality of forces between machine and man. The chasm here looks much larger than in the second film, because the man is too fragile, and one of his wrong steps can easily become the last.
Nevertheless, when it comes to the first part of “Terminator”, the first thing to remember is not the story told by the film, but various bright strokes – the cold cruelty of the Terminator, his red eyes, the malicious desperation of half-hearted Reese, rushing to a killer car with only an iron rod, the cult Schwarzenegger’s “I’ll be back”, born on the set of this film, etc.
Still, the main merit of the first "Terminator" seems to me not some of his own merits, but that he set the rules and prepared the ground for the subsequent brilliant continuation. Well, and, of course, proved that fantastic action movies can be interesting and commercially profitable.
As a result, as a historical phenomenon, "Terminator" certainly deserves a rating of 10, but as a film in itself still
The Terminator is more than just another science fiction movie. This is a film that changed our ideas about fiction in general, this picture has become the subject of a real cult, which is not a bit outdated even today. James Cameron revealed his talent as a director in the first “Terminator”, and Arnold Schwarzenegger looks best in the image of a humanoid robot. The "Terminator" has many advantages - this is a great plot, and stunning special effects, and tense, spectacular chases ... But the main advantage of the film, personally, I consider the indescribable atmosphere of dark, cruel cyberpunk. Everything works for her - and very characteristic music, and scenes from the future, and, of course, the image of the Terminator itself - a ruthless killing machine that does not feel any emotions. Largely due to this, despite the fact that science fiction films come out with enviable regularity, only one movie dedicated to the war of people and machines was able to surpass the first two “Terminators” – a speech, of course, about “The Matrix”.
Why only 8? Personally, I would like the film to be bigger than it was. However, this small flaw of the film was eliminated in the sequel, which in almost everything surpassed the first part.

Talking about the Terminator is like talking about the properties of water – yes, it can become solid, liquid and even gaseous, yes, it is necessary for the life of the organism, yes, it consists of all life on the planet, yes, several times a day we have mandatory contacts with it, without which we simply could not exist. But why think about it when you can just drink?
So one of the most legendary fighters of the last century (and maybe millennia?) is perceived today as something simple, natural and self-evident (after all, time itself does not have power over the Terminator). Fanaticism and public recognition broke all records - children learned Arnie's name before their own president's, adult representative men seriously discussed what they saw at the meeting, and even housewives (no, no, yes) recalled a pile of deadly muscles in a sweet night fantasy.
Despite the fact that the fantastic success of the film can be considered only in the appendix to the picture as a whole, we still note several factors that played a special role in the formation of this icon of cinema: 1. A successful idea that beats the emerging fear of a variety of machines, mechanisms, technologies, robots, gadgets, electronic devices and other indispensable attributes of modern life (a topic later picked up by Robocop, Transformers, etc.). 2) Perfect hit in the image of Schwarzenegger 3 Strikingly rational (for Cameron) allocation of the tiny budget 4 Excellent work of the best in his field master of special effects Stan Winston, which once held a generation of Hollywood films (eternal memory of the great maestro) 5 Inexplicably disturbing, tense atmosphere, persisting from the first to the last frame.
But who's the Terminator? In principle, if you look closely, it has all the attributes of what horrified the ancient Greeks - the inevitability of fate, the ruthlessness of death, inhuman cruelty. In general, we can say that he is an evil fate, pursuing pathetic, helpless, mortal people. But it is not strange in the confrontation against the weakest representatives of the weakest species on earth that he is destined (!) to suffer a crushing defeat. Female (precisely childbearing) principle prevails over superpowerful, destructive, masculine male technology. Cameron, like a whole galaxy of directors of the time (from Marco Ferreri to Ridley Scott), bets on eternal femininity that can defeat anyone, anywhere. Up to space three-meter monsters with two jaws in an open boundless space. What’s more, the last scene from Terminator and Alien is strikingly similar, and there’s no question where Cameron drew inspiration for it. Apparently, therefore, his next job is to appeal to the “Alien”, where Sergeant Ripley is assigned to fight an army of freaks as partners...a blonde girl.
Finally, it should be noted that the Cyborg Killer franchise has a really high survival threshold. Even despite the indistinct and destroying the overall concept, sequels like the uprising of machines or the advent of the savior, interest in the character does not weaken and the release of each new trailer / teaser for the subsequent film is discussed with serious passions. However, the truth is that Hollywood producers with inexorability and ruthlessness (evil rock) drain the once holistic and steadfast as a member of the character, squeezing the last drops of life-giving fluid out of the sluggish and exhausted soldier. And most likely, the bosses will not find peace until they finally dispel the memory of the mythical and legendary character and overthrow the icon of a whole generation of moviegoers.
Even though we know it won't be easy to kill him.
You are under threat: the confession of the owner of the scooter
The author does not use these lines anymore. Honestly.
With the first lightning strike, Sarah Connor's quiet days were numbered. I remember this, I was seven, and I curled up in a chair in front of the TV. Blue electric discharges appeared out of nowhere and flickered alarmingly in the night air, and the naked, pumped-up man who appeared after them, Volodarsky’s voice demanded bikes and clothes from the local punk. Since then, I have avoided naked citizens and bodybuilders and run away with screams, meet one of them on the street. Since then, the harsh swing with a shotgun, stylishly dissecting on the squeezed out of the defenseless man Harley, seems to me either a New Testament rider, or an absolute force that has not met its insurmountable obstacle. It is difficult for me to think that my pants, hoods and scooter can so easily pass to another and walking to me from the darkness, led by historical reflection, the Austro-Hungarian can easily encroach on my private property only because he pulls iron and has a computer in his head. I feel like something like this could happen to me; it could happen more to you; it certainly happened to those who were caught between a pumped-up man and Sarah Connor, whose quiet days were counted as lightning strikes. The collateral damage of another American blockbuster, that's bullshit.
No one remembers his name, but he was an arms dealer. Not a gangster with a point in the neighborhood, not a Mexican cartel in charge of wholesale, no! Honest man, legitimate business, own shop. He knew nothing about the fact that Sarah Connor turned out to be a bad waitress, that a woman mired in problems is prone to emotional instability, does not observe herself and will soon carry in the hem from the first person he meets. Shot shotgun point blank.
Loving Ginger and her friend Matt lived for their pleasure. They did not suspect that the unlucky neighbor Sarah would be even more unlucky mother and, carried away by terrorist activities in the fight against scientific progress, would leave his own son at the mercy of his adoptive parents. The same under the influence of the corrupting influence of the streets will grow into a hardened troublemaker and fighter with the regime born in the early XXI century. A few bullets in the back and head.
Mrs. Connor, a modest housewife of the same name, baked cookies and waited for her husband from work. She could not imagine that in the near future, the power over the world would be seized by the powerful AI Skynet, who, to combat a few marginal elements that militarily do not recognize the logic of the evolutionary development of society, would create a time machine and send a cyborg assassin (later known as Schwarminator) to the glorious 80s, programmed to eliminate the mother of the resistance leader even before he was born. Housewives don't think in terms of robotics, you know. It's a .45 caliber clip.
So, you think the main intrigue of the tape is whether Sarah Connor will be able to defeat the coltan monster? Wherever. If you’re a bad waitress, you don’t have much to achieve in life. If you're a bad waitress, you don't stand a chance against the Schwarminator! And so that the story did not die out exactly after the beginning, the efforts of the screenwriters in the long-suffering worker catering appears patron. But who could come to the aid of the war-torn men of progress, the beggars of the world of the future? Of course, skinny starving! After all, everyone knows that only a hero, on whose account aggressive expropriation, vandalism and antisocial behavior, is worthy to challenge the Schwarminator. And they will converge in the dark alleys of Los Angeles. That's the movie.
As you know, the bad guys differ from the good guys only in that they shoot at you, and the judgment within such a evaluative model depends entirely on the position taken by its author. In this context, the confrontation of a skinny hungry man with a well-fed and well-dressed Schwarminator, although it carries the beginnings of Marxist symbolism, but still looks unambiguously negative through the eyes of the scooter owner. For this kind of confrontation is as old as the world, and its outcome is inexorably identical: some still continue to pump their muscles, while others crumple at the door, staring enviously at the master’s torso. Suffer from these vicissitudes mainly owners of private property, caught between them. And as a result, if you have a scooter, a squirrel or at least pants, they will come for you. Schwarminator. Or starving. Someone else.
And some say that the tape just raises questions of social inequality; others see it as prophetic-apocalyptic motifs; others believe that it is nothing more than an anthem to Darwinism; fourth, out of reference to the semantic load, call the film a milestone in the history of cinema (or at least science fiction), however. Let’s take a closer look at the fact that through the veil of an indecent number of naked male bodies could open to a seven-year-old child curled up in a chair in front of the TV.
It's simple. Under the guidance of the most powerful artificial intelligence, the most perfect weapon with advanced IT stuffing in his head was the first to travel back in time to find out what the punks of the past looked like without clothes, blow up a gasoline tanker and kill a slow waitress. In short, poor service can have long-lasting consequences.
I recently revisited this truly masterpiece film and I can say for 30 years this tape has not lost its chic. Yes, of course, the graphics are clearly outdated but still the time and budget of this picture say a lot, in comparison with the 2 Terminator, the computer effects of which look great to this day.
But still, this film was the beginning of the franchise, and in terms of drama, it is well staged. I particularly remember the moment at the club when Arnie started looking for Sarah among the visitors.
The performance of the actors was not to say that at the height, but it is worthy.
But there is also a drop of tar in the barrel of honey, the moment in the police station still haunts me, because her employees probably did not come from the street, and they all studied at the academies, but that strangely some rank-and-file cops (and then not all) behave more adequately than their boss, I am talking about the moment when he began to shoot the Terminator almost at point-blank range without using shelter, well, the boss thought he would roll, but his assistant who was nearby could not soberly assess the situation and made the same mistake. In real life, even an ordinary cop, seeing a simple teenager with a weapon, would not portray a hero, but would resort to using a shelter where you can try to neutralize the criminal without risking life. The same situation was in Terminator 2, though there special forces, why not without negotiations, began to attack criminals, they should not do so, because to neutralize opponents is possible without victims and shots, and this is always encouraged.

“But there was a man among us who taught us how to fight, cut wires and destroy these iron. With his arrival, everything changed. He gave us hope. His name was Connor. John Connor. Your son, Sarah. Yours is still.
In 1984, one of the most famous cult fantasy films in the history of cinema was released on the screens - "The Terminator".
This film is deservedly considered a classic. More than one generation of viewers grew up on it, and for Soviet citizens, “Terminator” (which was translated as “Killer Cyborg”) was a hit of video salons.
The success of this fighter is truly phenomenal. Unable to amuse the viewer with special effects (due to a meager budget), the director James Cameron really made a strong impression, showing the post-apocalyptic war of people with artificial intelligence. And if back then in the early 1980s, movies and literature tried to show robots as kind creatures that humanity created to help, in Cameron’s interpretation, mass robotization and the development of computer technology acquired a darker meaning.
The plot of “Terminator” rapidly revolves around Sarah Connor – an ordinary waitress, whose son in the distant future will be able to win the war with machines in the year 2009. To prevent the birth of the future Savior, the most powerful computer system Skynet sends one of its Terminators into the past. Clothed in human flesh, the Terminator is perfect for this task: the appearance of a cyborg is no different from ordinary people. But after the Terminator in 1984 went one of the resistance fighters, whose task is to save Sarah, to save humanity.
The selection of actors was one of the key reasons for the success of “Terminator”.
37-year-old bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger, for the first time in his life playing an antagonist, became a real decoration of the picture. Tall, stately, muscular Arnie with an unblinking look, a square jaw, literally attracts attention from the first frames of his appearance. Even for Schwarzenegger to play in the “Terminator” was a great honor (which he, in fact, proved, giving his all).
Michael Bien, unfortunately, could not please with external physical data, like Arnold. But this character turned out to be very bright, and the image that the actor played was tragic. After all, his Kyle Reese is a man who was born and lived his entire conscious life there - in the war. Therefore, once in 1984, he is experiencing a mental shock from the fact that the whole world around him will be changed beyond recognition on the Day of Judgment, and fear, anxiety and longing will replace joy and joy. No, Reese definitely turned out to be a cool guy who is able to come to the rescue in a difficult moment (even without huge muscles).
But the most important role went to Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor. After all, according to the plot of the film, this heroine throughout the time was not just to speak on camera, but literally transformed beyond recognition from a shy waitress into a brave woman who is ready to personally rebuff the Terminator. And Linda very responsibly approached the role, which also made the actress very popular.
The rest of the actors were also good (although some were enough for a few episodes). With some of them (Paxton, Henriksen) Cameron will meet in the future in other films.
The Terminator was also a triumph for James Cameron. Even comparing this film with other modern action films, it is safe to say that “Terminator” is a great author’s film. It was there that Cameron managed to take place as a director, as a creator, as a creator. It seems that Cameron put his soul into the project, not trying to quickly cover the financial costs.
No less important contribution to the creation of the picture was made by the “master of special effects” Stan Winston, as well as the composer Brad Fidel, who composed one of the most famous and recognizable melodies for the “Terminator”.
Even 30 years later, “Terminator” is still able to cause a storm of emotions at the first viewing of the modern viewer. There are all the attributes of a good movie: a competent script, acting, soundtrack (which was written in accordance with the then fashion on techno). And although after the abundance of blockbusters on the screen, the special effects in “Terminator” in 1984, some will not seem so spectacular. So if you want to watch the movie for the sake of special effects, then the 1991 sequel was just better in this regard. However, from an artistic point of view, I like the first part more than the second.
The Terminator is a movie for all time. A light, dynamic action movie with an interesting philosophy, which is worth watching once in a lifetime.

Every legend has its beginning. Every journey begins with the first step. In 1984, a real sensation was born, which sent to the Hollywood Olympus as a young director and screenwriter James Cameron and former athlete Arnold Schwarzenegger. And all thanks to the unexpected success of the inexpensive, but at the same time original and exciting fantastic action movie "Terminator". At one time, no one expected that an uncomplicated story about a killer robot from the future, who found himself in our time with the sole purpose of killing, would produce such a furor. James Cameron believed in the script. Believed and his wife and part-time producer of the film, Gail Ann Heard. Having collected a production budget of $ 6.4 million, the director of the second-rate Piranius 2 sent on his first Crusade, aimed at a true demonstration of his talent. And the efforts, as we all know, paid off a hundredfold: Cameron and Schwarzenegger are still rotating in the highest circles of Hollywood society, and “Terminator” remains one of the most popular franchises, which, despite the comparative box office and creative failures of the sequels, still excites the minds of fans, and therefore creative death in the near future she clearly does not threaten.
So, the plot of the film tells us the story of an ordinary waitress from Los Angeles named Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). One day, a strange man breaks into her life, calling himself Kyle Reese (Michael Bean). According to the stranger, he came from the future to protect the girl from the robot-killer Terminator (Schwarzenegger), for which the only program goal is to kill Sarah. Reese says the future of the planet lies in ruins. Robots have conquered all power on Earth and ultimately decided to destroy humanity. However, among the scattered groups of the small militia, there was a leader who united the survivors in a united front and managed to give the machines an unexpectedly powerful resistance. His name is John Connor, Sarah's son. Anticipating inexorably approaching defeat, robots with the help of innovative technologies send back the very Terminator, whose goal is the death of John Connor’s mother, thanks to which the leader of the resistance will never be born. Connor sends his best soldier, Kyle Reese, back in time to protect his mother. And it is a good thing that Reese managed in time, because the killer robot has already been on the trail and only a moment was not enough for the machine to fulfill its mission. But Sarah and Kyle still have a lot of problems ahead, because the Terminator is not used to retreating.
The first “Terminator” can not boast of some twisted plot, which is full of surprises and exciting discoveries. In fact, the whole story comes down to the escape of a couple of heroes from a robot that demolishes absolutely everything in its path. But James Cameron knew what he was doing. His story looks fantastic and expensive even without the use of the fashionable at that time special effects and the involvement of hundreds of extras. The director skillfully accommodated episodes with a post-apocalyptic future in a couple of dynamic scenes, from which goosebumps still run. Well, who among us didn't feel the tension when the heavy caterpillars of one of the robotic cars drive through a field dotted with human skulls? In principle, the fear of deadly technology is no longer necessary, because sometimes minimal costs bring maximum emotions. But Cameron did not calm down, and decided to give the viewer a couple of colorful action moments in which we see flying cars, destroying people from the air and replaced the bullets with lasers. Of course, the production budget for a qualitative reconstruction of the future was not enough, but the ideas of the director were later borrowed for more expensive and large-scale sequels that could ideally show us everything that Cameron conceived in 1984, but could not qualitatively implement.
Of course, the main attraction to the viewing element was the Terminator himself. Arnold Schwarzenegger became simply the perfect embodiment of a mechanical maniac, externally covered with human flesh. During the entire film, the actor says only a couple of phrases, but the charm of the Terminator comes not from dialogue, but from the impressive appearance and uncompromising actions. Schwarzenegger, thanks to its enormous dimensions, looks like an absolute force embodied in a single body. Terminator is not exchanged for small things, does not enter into conversations, but acts directly. The image of the enemy is not important to him. The robot easily enters a full police station and arranges a real massacre. The life of others does not matter to him. There's a target, Sarah Connor. And he goes to her no matter what. For more effect, Cameron dressed Schwarzenegger in jeans and a cool leather jacket. To approach such a creature is frightening. But it's much scarier to be his target. So the Terminator has rightfully become the most memorable image in Schwarzenegger’s career and will always be associated with him. And that's no exaggeration.
It would seem that with such a powerful villain, positive heroes a priori will look faded and expressionless. But Linda Hamilton was able to embody the amazingly smart and effective Sarah Connor, who mentally understands that Reese’s story at least looks like the ravings of a madman, but the heart feels the truth, and therefore there are no long empty conversations in the plot, and there is drive, tension and incredible passion born of an incredible time travel. As for Kyle Reese himself, he certainly looks like a loyal soldier and fighter against human genocide, only to call his image completely straightforward. Michael Bean is a kind of first swallow in the change of the hero of the 80s. Kyle Reese does not boast of a square jaw and immense biceps, which Schwarzenegger and Stallone reserved for themselves. Our soldier is an ordinary man, forced to take up arms and believing that someday the goals of the resistance will change the world for the better. Reese shoots and sometimes misses, drives cars and gets into accidents, punches the robot and gets a killer change. Michael Bean embodies a truly living person in a film where the ball is ruled by a robot. For this, he has considerable respect, because he not only did not get lost against the spectacular Schwarzenegger, but also eclipsed him in some ways.
As a result, I want to say that "Terminator" - this is the Hollywood classic, which should be familiar with every movie lover. James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger gave us a legend that grows and develops to this day. Of course, you can get acquainted with the films about the killer robot that were shot by other directors and with a much larger budget, but they are still not as good as the very first Terminator. Despite the year of creation and the general modesty of the production, Cameron’s film amazes with its idea and its enthusiastic implementation. So get the prejudices out of your head and run to see. The picture is worth it!
I recently managed to revisit this wonderful creation of cinema. I was mentally preparing for the fact that the 1984 film would not impress me as it did, but my fears were not justified, the impressions remained the same, and in some ways I even admired the film even more. “Terminator” does not spoil even time.
I want to pay tribute to Arnold Schwarzenegger, an amazing actor and really many interesting films with his participation and each film with him, few people leave indifferent, this is an actor with a capital letter. It was a pleasure to see Arnold again as a young man and I was once again convinced that he was perfect for this role.
I also want to highlight Linda Hamilton. Amazing actress, plays the role just matchless, she believes one hundred percent. I will definitely watch other movies with her.
The plot and special effects I consider just amazing and innovative for that time, then it was just a cult film, now stamped a lot of different fantastic action films, but so few of them really fall into the soul, so in our time, the Terminator is still hanging on the board of honor and I think he will be there for a very long time.

Without further ado, let me get to the point: the film is great! Beautiful old-school action movie. Very good memories recall a long time ago, for which special thanks.
Whether I liked him is undeniable. The plot is simply revolutionary for that hour, and what staging and shooting with such a budget – this can not be done.
Of course, you often see shortcomings, but sorry, this creation is already 30 years old and he was filmed for not much, even by those standards, money. Therefore, just keep quiet those who do not consider this film at least an excellent representative of fiction.
The actors also played very well. Especially, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger stood out: to play a role only with the eyes - this too must be able!
The post-apocalyptic future is shown with dignity, although it is clear that it was made on a much smaller scale than is addressed on the screen. However, such a high-quality interweaving of a real picture with a mini-copy is simply amazing, for which I want to just applaud.
I don’t want to say much to Terminator because you probably know everything. But for those who do not know - shame, shame and obligatory acquaintance with the classics!
P.S. Somehow back in the room, Arnie wanted a poster with Iron. And you? Thank you very much.
I have always believed that directing is not a profession, but a calling. A person “not born a director” in spirit can make bad or even good films, but will never become part of a cult. The other will always surprise with unique works, shift the boundaries of the reasonable and unambiguously give out real masterpieces one by one. Perhaps this is the director and can be considered director James Cameron. James Cameron has long earned fame as a true pioneer of cinema and one of the most powerful directors of old Hollywood. The director who, with the sequel to Aliens and Titanic alone, immortalized his name. So much so that his debut work as a sequel to Piranius is forgotten by itself and certainly the beginning of everything is laid by this picture.
It would seem that in the 80s, a real fashion for films of a fantastic genre suddenly appeared and a considerable number of worthy works have already died out, which immediately knocked out the title of masterpieces and classics. One of them was this film directed by James Cameron, to describe all the advantages objectively and fully is a huge difficulty.
Cameron shot just a stunning fantastic thriller, in which he equally deservedly played out both in the implementation of a cool action movie in the framework of that time, and a cruel thriller in the scenery of the destroyed world. All this is perfectly played out by an abundance of shootings, explosions, chases, destruction and other attributes of action scenes, which only give the picture a certain dignity. That’s just worth admitting that even the budget of the picture did not allow how to run, and the visual effects even by those standards looked not the most achy, and now even more so. But even so, it is impossible to properly explain why the film itself makes such a strong impression.
The film is bribed by the fact that it does not place an exclusive emphasis on the spectacle. After all, the film has a very gloomy, oppressive and heavy atmosphere, which imbued Cameron not only life in the 80s, but also his vision of a possible future on the screen. At the same time, it is due to this that keeping the viewer in a state of complete tension, dynamism and mesmerizing with each of his frames.
Actually, as well as a stunning plot, which is the most powerful and main advantage of this cinematic masterpiece. History already captivates by the fact that nothing like this in terms of the plot at that time was not. Cameron is trying to develop the story itself superficially and in favor of the genre, and revealing it on the example of a very voluminous and rich cinematic universe. Thus, meticulously explaining to the viewer everything about the future, what led to such a terrible future and perfectly playing the importance of absolutely every detail, every word and every action reflected on the screen. This gives the picture the dignity of a really smart and very strong sci-fi canvas, which even by today’s standards shows extremely impressive theories about time travel, the consequences of people’s enthusiasm for creating artificial intelligence and even the very concept of a time loop with the effect of a butterfly.
Michael Bean perfectly fit into the image of the main positive character. It is very difficult to see the classic image of the hero and savior of humanity, but this brings to the image of Michael Bean a special dignity, which the actor himself uses in an extremely rational way throughout the film. It’s still a very young Linda Hamilton. Watching her, you see no fighting woman and the mother of the main hope of mankind, but quite an ordinary girl, sweet, defenseless and even vulnerable. That allows you to imbue her with sympathy with even greater force.
Frankly speaking, the entire cast worked above all praise and do not even want to single out anyone separately. Unless, among all the actors, Arnold Schwarzenegger stands out, whom this film made a real star of militants and perhaps the most recognizable actor in this genre. Schwarzenegger just amazingly got used to the image of an absolutely cold-blooded, devoid of emotions and unrestrained killing machine. So impressive and convincing that even after so many years, this role can be called perhaps the most worthy and noticeable in the career of an actor, which is already enough to ensure that respect and authority for this actor never lost.

The Terminator is a real classic of science fiction and a real masterpiece, time-tested, which even after so many years looks with great interest and awe. Undoubtedly a cult film that made James Cameron a truly “cult” director, Arnold Schwarzenegger a “cult” hero of the action movie, and the stunning musical theme of composer Brad Fidel a “cult” and easily recognizable piece of music.
A classic that will never get old and can be revisited and revised. Of course, hardly anyone would argue that the second Terminator turned out to be cooler, but about this another time, and now the very first Terminator is in line.
In this movie, Arnie is, in my opinion, the first and only time he plays a negative character. Oh, yeah. A cyborg assassin who came from the future to kill an ordinary Earth woman. It should be prevented by a “positive” terminator performed by Michael Bean.
All the actors after this movie woke up famous. Schwartz himself, who by that time was no stranger to playing “cool” guys in action movies, in the first “Terminator” worked for glory. Michael Bean was not lost against the background of “iron Arnie”. Linda Hamilton is the victim of the Terminator. Sarah Connor is probably her most famous role.
It is also worth noting that the plot of the film contains a certain philosophy about the use of atomic weapons and the consequences of this. So the Terminator is not just a dumb action movie. This is serious.
Of course, it is worth noting the work of makeup artists, special effects, the famous quotes of the Terminator, which are still relevant today - all this makes "Terminator" one of the most famous films.
Special thanks to James Cameron for such a great film and for the subsequent second part.

So, I decided to revise the whole "Terminator" and began, as is customary in normal people, with the first part, which, for reasons unknown to me, many consider worse than the rest of the parts, with which I strongly disagree.
First, that distant impression is now very difficult to convey in words. I remember the boyish delight and it was caused by nothing more than special effects, that is, the iron that flashed every now and then, the bulletproof effect, all this was new, it is simply impossible to deny the genius of the idea. I also remember very well that state of inevitability, the Terminator is the perfect killing machine, it is almost impossible to destroy, he will bring it to the end, there is no doubt about it, it seemed that one human courage is too little, overcoming this obstacle, no iron muscle will not flinch, which is not surprising, he and the Terminator.
I watched the film, just yesterday, with a fresh, modern, or rather an overheated eye. Yes, the special effects are weak, the actors’ play is a little slowed down, some action scenes cause questions and bewilderment with their bawdy incidents, all this is striking. "Terminator" is an indisputable masterpiece of his time and the classic of the genre for all time - the weakness of special effects can not be called a minus, just the absence of any development of computer graphics, Cameron will prove it in the next part, as for the game of actors, here I have enough dash, I have claims if there is, then only to Schwarzenegger, but he learns from his mistakes and he too will prove it, but the staging of action scenes, here yes, the scarcity of experience or skills has affected, it is as you like, modern cinema in this regard has gained a hand, and there is a sin in this time.
But if you take not only the technical side, but also the spiritual, that is, atmospheric, rarely what modern blockbuster is able to compete in this with the “Terminator”, all sorts of iron people immediately come to mind and the like, in comparison you understand that special effects, this is not the main thing, it is just income from rental, the main soul and desire to shoot for the viewer, that makes the film a masterpiece classic, no more nor less.
The main difference from which the film only wins, this part from the others, the Terminator is opposed by a person, albeit a trained soldier, but he is made of blood and flesh, the forces are clearly not equal, from this compassion only increases. It is very interesting to observe all the oppositions between man and iron, from the beginning of the film, the very appearance of the heroes to the end.
If there are still those people who for some reason did not watch this film, then know that you missed a lot, and most importantly the thread of what is happening, so watch and enjoy!
I wish everyone a pleasant viewing!!
Favorite film of guys who are strong in body and spirit
... Not only that. This movie is liked by women, children, adults, and even some elderly people. This film won the hearts of fans of world cinema, in particular, fantastic, and became one of the most beloved by most moviegoers around the world. Perhaps some mistakenly consider this film to be a meaningless action movie, as well as propaganda for the malicious use of brute physical force. Maybe they just haven't seen this movie. Let's show them! There are even more enthusiastic viewers.
This film became famous original fantastic plot with time travel (for the inhabitants of the USSR 80s it was unheard of), and in the 90s the spectacle was not of the usual. As well as participation in the main role of the actor, who is considered the strongest man in the world. Who doesn’t know Arnold Schwarzenegger? He is also known for his role in the cult fantasy thriller “Predator”, but participation in “Terminator” became his main star role: we say “Schwarzenegger” – we mean “Terminator”. This film became one of the most famous movie hits, the main theme of which was the time travel of a robot cyborg and an ordinary person who are given opposite missions. They travel back in time from a time in which the Earth is captured by intelligent machines created by humans, unaware that they are signing the death warrant of the entire planet. In my opinion, the idea of this film is very similar to another cult science fiction franchise, The Matrix, and both of these films are interpreted by some people as a warning to humanity.
I recently joined this legendary film, and I watched all four of it recently. After watching the first part, I put off watching the next parts in a long box, despite the fact that I liked the first film so much, and the fact that they wrote about the second part. In the right comments about the movie Terminator 2. I was convinced only a year later, having received even more adrenaline and positive emotions from this film. Director James Cameron used all the technologies perfect at the time to surprise the viewer with the second part even more than the first, and show what he did not have time to show in the first part.
This film is not only the favorite movie of millions of viewers. He became the object of numerous parodies, which we immediately recognize and laugh at the parody of the unprecedented power of an alien from the future. In everyone’s favorite TV magazine “Yeralash” there were at least two parody of the image of the Terminator, and this film itself was repeatedly subjected to parody voiceover. The well-known translator Goblin also did not deprive this film of attention and created a “correct translation” to it. The second time I watched The Terminator was in the same translation as the first time, but this time simultaneously with the Goblin subtitles. Watching it again made me relive the movie from start to finish. When watching this movie, any viewer worries about the outcome of events that should determine the fate of mankind. Is it possible to save the world if a guest from the future reports what has already happened?
The Terminator is not just about power. This is a film about courage, courage and love (yes, and about her too!).

Did James Cameron know back in 1984 that his sci-fi opus about a cyborg-killer would become a classic of science fiction cinema? He hardly dreamed of such a grand recognition, but he certainly counted on the fact that the picture would enjoy a certain success among the audience.
Everything in this movie is wonderful. This is a textbook for a student who dreams of becoming a director of a fantastic movie. It’s a movie about which to say “like” or “don’t like” is even somewhat embarrassing. Because you feel love for him in pure form. This is a great cinematic heritage.
Any experienced film lover will be able to find here a million advantages: from brilliant makeup to high-class drama, from a magnificent soundtrack to the brightest images embodied by the actors. The exact proportionality of all components is absolutely admirable.
Unrestrained action keeps in tension constantly. The image of the Terminator, beautifully embodied by Schwarzenegger, inspires fear, although this feeling is unfamiliar to the cyborg himself. Just as unfamiliar is the empathy you have for the characters of Michael Bien and Linda Hamilton. Here you can feel your own special style, your own atmosphere, here you can smell noir, here Brad Fidel has the power to beat a cast-iron pan in order to create a special “metal” effect, and Arnold Schwarzenegger unfazedly picks out an eyeball with a scalpel, thereby emphasizing the inhumanity of his character. Only his mission matters to him. And no matter at what cost it will be performed, let even have to step over the mountains of corpses, and if necessary, and crawl to the goal. The Terminator knows neither pain nor fear. This is the perfect killer machine. It's almost perfect. And the most amazing thing about everything was spent a little more than $ 6 million.
Of course, every era has its heroes. But it's especially disappointing to watch an unsophisticated younger generation, used to 3D and tons of pointless computer special effects, for whom this film is something distant. But I ask only one question: Will Cameron’s Avatar be considered the classic in 30 years’ time that Terminator is (and will always be)? I'm not sure. Technically progressive, definitely. And here's the classic... Not likely.
After the stunning success of the first film, Cameron was allocated a record $100 million for the second series. And we all remember how it ended: the release of the film “Terminator 2”. Doomsday was just that unprecedented case when the sequel surpasses the original. Both of James Cameron’s Terminators are phenomenal and fantastic in every sense.
Unfortunately, we are now witnessing a decadent cinematography, and modern multimillion-dollar 3 and 4 parts do not even stand close to the first two films. 25 years ago, they knew how to make movies with toy trucks. And now, with $200 million in hand, they remove the absurdity in the beautiful wrapper of modern technology, forgetting that the viewer is not a machine, but a person. But these are topics for other conversations.
In the 21st century, the U.S. military activated a defense program with artificial intelligence SkyNet (Heavenly Network), under the control of which were transferred combat submarines and missile defense systems. After assessing the incoming data and seeing people as a threat to their own existence, the program decides to destroy humanity and unleashes a nuclear war. After gaining control of factories and assembly plants, SkyNet begins production of portable modules disguised as humans, the main purpose of which is to destroy survivors of the nuclear apocalypse. One of these modules – the robot T-800 model 101 (Schwarzenegger) with the help of revolutionary technology available SkyNet, goes back in time with the task of killing a certain girl – the future mother of the leader of the human resistance, suspiciously knowing a lot about SkyNet. In response, people seize the time machine and throw in the 80s of the 20th century officer Kyle Reese (Bien), whose task is to protect Sarah Connor (Hamilton) - the mother of the commander of the resistance waxes John Connor.
- Don't you understand? He'll find her! He will not sleep, he will not eat, he will not rest. This is his mission, he will find it and kill it. I'm the only one who can stop him!
- How are you going to come back?
- No way. The time tunnel works only one way. It's just him and me now.
The first major project of James Cameron was filmed in 1984 for only 8 thousand dollars, while a thousand he borrowed a friend – Arnold Schwarzenegger, who took it from his first fee for his role in the film Conan the Barbarian. Arnold was also going to embody the character of Kyle Reese, but fate decreed otherwise. Thus, the world cinema received: one of the most impressive fantastic action films in history; a first-class director who has directed many magnificent films, three of which (Terminator-2, Titanic and Avatar) immediately added to the list of imperishable masterpieces; the ideal hero, whose German name for many, including me, became symbols of the 80s and 90s; and finally - an interesting franchise, a fifth of which is in development 30 years after the release of the original. I really like this film not so much as an example of strong fiction, as a source of unusual author's decisions.
Hey! Have you ever had a cat die there, buddy?
Possible answers: Yes, thank you; No, I'm fine; Please don't bother me. Back off, motherfucker; no answer.
- Fuck off, motherfucker!
- Okay, please...
The stunning shooting of night Los Angeles, the feeling of the inevitability of fate itself in the person of the Terminator, the looping of history (the Celestial Network, sending the cyborg into the past, created its own enemy, whose father was Reese) and the natural robotic effects of Stan Winston, that makes you repeatedly review this free interpretation of the classic biblical story about the birth of the Savior.
Over. A sample of classical fiction from people who later became classics of the genre.

P.S. It is rumored that the 5th part of the series will be a remake of this film. Let's hope Hollywood stop warming its hands on the glory of long-gone hits.
From the future in our time arrives a robot-killer Terminator, whose goal is to kill a woman Sarah Connor, who in the future will become the mother of the savior of mankind John Connor. To help Sarah comes soldier Reese, who is also from the future.
At one time, this film by James Cameron did not particularly change the worldview of people. Cameron’s dream about a robot chasing a woman did not immediately appear on movie screens. They didn’t want to make the film because they didn’t trust the director. The then not-so-famous Arnold Schwarzenegger played a robot killer in the film, who will stop at nothing for the sake of his goal. The story tells about the events in our world, and often shows the future. The future in the picture is true despair and despondency. Car patrols are flying everywhere, Terminators are destroying human camps and there is no sunshine on the horizon. The plot is not very intriguing, but it is not boring to watch. Sarah and Reese look good together, and they have a real fear of cyborgs. Schwartz looks good in the form of a villain, although unusual. He has no pity and kills every person he meets. The movie looks good even after twenty-nine years. The chase in the parking lot, the shooting of the police station and the last fight by the Terminator all look exciting. The disadvantage of the film can be considered that it strongly wants to compare with the excellent second part and against its background the first looks worse and its plot looks slightly banal.
Verdict: cult fantastic action movie with the sinister Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“You’re talking to me about what didn’t happen as the past.” It's driving me crazy!
James Cameron is certainly a wizard. After all, only a wizard could glorify Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose character shows absolutely no emotions and speaks for the entire film less than 20 phrases. And, seemingly, the most unremarkable of them - "I'll be back" - is among the leaders of the lists of the best quotes in the history of cinema. Only a wizard could prove to the world that the seemingly unremarkable Linda Hamilton is really the very beauty in whose photo a guy from the future fell in love. And only a wizard could make an ordinary, at first glance, “film with babes” a wonderful masterpiece.
It is a shame that I am only writing this review today. When I was a kid, I only watched fragments of Terminator, and only recently I decided to take a full look. Given my love of science fiction, and especially knowing almost the entire plot of the film since childhood, I could not remain indifferent after watching it. But I never expected James Cameron’s creation to make me so mad. Now, a couple of days after watching, I do not leave the thought of the film – and I think of it so often and with such trepidation, as if it is the love of my life.
What's the success? Yes, the fact that from the status of “men, I found an action movie for beer” the picture is separated by a brilliant idea. During the film, we are initiated into different details, putting everything together. How beautiful! It would seem that an ordinary, but at the same time the most memorable moment occurred in the police station. Reese’s conversation with a psychiatrist, Cameron kills two birds with one stone, explaining to the viewer in more detail how and why Reese ended up in the past, along the way showing a completely adequate attitude of people of the present to an alien from the future as a mentally ill person.
Smart dialogues explaining all the plot twists and turns are successfully mixed with the attempts of the Terminator cyborg-killer to destroy his goal - a simple American girl, on whom the fate of the planet depends. Now this is no surprise to anyone, but then, for only $ 6 million, managed to make excellent visual effects of the Terminator, powerful shootouts, chases, explosions. At the same time, absolutely not stamped - what is the fact that the heroes do not forget to reload their weapons? And the music? Whether the player is stuck in the brain, or something else, but this great melody with tensing knocks constantly plays in the head!
Try to put all these facts together to understand my emotions. Thriller, in the right moments, giving the right signs, putting everything in its place. Fighter, keeping in suspense from the beginning to the very end, thanks to beautiful effects and chic musical design. And finally, the main fact that determines the fate of the film is its ending. And here Cameron presents a pleasant surprise, shocking for last. A couple of minutes you sit under the impression, then you come to your senses and realize that you just watched a filigree work, which is hard to find fault with and not appreciate.
While I was thinking about which film to take for the competition, there was one Treminator (or almost one), the others were taken apart. I’m not into men’s subjects: football and motorcycles, film fiction and noir – I’m probably not old enough, I don’t know how to handle it. But still I thought, since we met on the “narrow path” (and for me it seems inevitable), here we will have to evaluate the liquidator, so that if you die of helplessness, then at least not a coward.
Okay. Terminator. Until he started shooting. It's worth his walk! Proud to become, straight back, hard step. You can admire that. Car, how's it going? Like alive. I suppose that bosses, generals of all stripes, and even presidents, choking with delight, have imitated and will continue to imitate this animal terminatorial confidence, which among people is called charisma. You can see who's in charge.
The Terminator is the only negative hero, and the entire image of the athlete in a leather jacket, black glasses and with two automatic rifles, from which he shoots a fan without looking, will be successfully stolen by the militants. And in ordinary life, he is no less attractive, because a person by definition is weak and defenseless. Independence and the right to stand up for himself - that's what he's always needed since the most of Neanderthal times. Man is a struggle for power.
But mostly the plot is interesting because it's a chase. Animal fear, the struggle for existence. And the viewer exists in a soft chair (with a remote control, a mobile phone and a solid door to his room). Cruelty, shooting and explosions on the screen only remind him that he is in his comfort zone and nothing bad will happen to him. This topic does not bother, and moreover, it will last for thousands of films, and we will eagerly watch them, remembering of course that the Terminator, who appeared as Zeus with lightning, will remain the coolest movie hero, reviving the deep human fear so selflessly.
According to the established order, a dynamic scenario should be praised. Cameron masterfully screws up the story and torments us with the unknown - after all, half of the film is absolutely unclear why it is necessary to kill Sarah Conor, all the Sar Conor from the LA phone book, and perhaps even their girlfriends at the same time. You think... a small loss, and then, he is a liquidator – he can. It worked for sure – you will not come off the screen. Well, come on, feed your beast, and finally admit that you don't feel sorry for anyone. After all, this is also an interesting question, why a prosperous layman, freed from dirt and antediluvian inconveniences in life (there are comfort buttons everywhere, a car with a soft chair, etc.), why should he watch such a movie? .
Second, it’s nice to announce that anything can happen in a good movie. For example, to go back 50 years and find the mother of the leader to conceive a son for her, who will be the first. And then you can burn the main of the villains in the tank with gasoline, and surviving, he will go slowly towards you, and you throw a dynamite bomb at him, he will tear in half, but the surviving half will move towards you, with the last strength. Well, obviously, in the cinema, everything is possible. And then his heroic essence again refers to ancient myths, as if he were an iron knight, without bugs, without hangings, bullets for him like a mosquito bite, he will be crushed only by a giant mechanical press.
In fact, all machinery over the last thirty years has become much less reliable; it is easier to throw away than to fix. But the viewer will not notice this inaccuracy. But I’ll be back many years later will certainly work in the campaign for the whole state of California. How do you know that? The magical power of art? Or small people want to know that they are not alone in the universe and there is a powerful terrifying force nearby.
I also want to say that this lonely gloomy fighter with a black eye of the sample of 1984, predicted the emergence of a whole layer of popular culture - combat computer games. The fact remains that the Terminator starts and wins, and nothing can be done with this passion.
Thirty years later, the Terminator is still fascinating and terrifying. In his case, thirty or thirty million — it doesn’t matter, he’s timeless. He is neither man nor machine, he is the element itself. Therefore, the reason for the general interest in the most famous cyborg lies in ourselves.
