Those Who Wish Me Dead is an American thriller directed by Taylor Sheridan. There are many popular actors in the film, but they failed to impress with their performance in this film. The time of the film is 1 hour 46 minutes. I personally associate Sheridan with a cop from Sons of Anarchy. I didn’t even know he was a producer. This is his first film as a producer. I don’t think this debut was very successful. But he also produced such series as Yellowstone and the Mayor of Kingstown. I haven’t seen both of them, but they’re in the works. The rating of both series is quite high.
Plot. The film takes place in Montana. Hannah is the main character of the series. She works as a fire warden sitting in a fire tower. Before that, she served as a rescuer in a parachute squad. But she left the position because she blamed herself for the deaths of her partner and three teenagers. One day, she spots a frightened boy in the woods. He tells her that he is being hunted by two assassins who recently killed his father. For the rest of the film, we watch Hannah and the boy escape from two mercenaries.
Actors. In this film I was impressed by 2 actors - Nicholas Holt and Aidan Gillen. They played the roles of two brothers, Patrick and Jack. These two were the same mercenaries. It was unusual to see Holt in this role, especially after watching The Great with his participation. All action scenes with their participation are quite realistic and exciting. There are not many scenes, but thanks for that. Their characters are cool and unflappable. But closer to the middle of the film, they are turned into template villains who, as they do, screw up. Angelina Jolie did not impress me in this role. From her heroine made a miracle woman. She is on an equal footing against the killer and without problems gives him a fight. The same can be said about a pregnant woman. How can a woman 7-8 years pregnant do this? How? John Bernthal played a template character. Replace it with another, and there will be no difference.
I didn't like a lot about the movie. For example, the characters in the film are not revealed. Their background is described briefly. So you don’t even have the characters. There's no chemistry between heroes. But it is a very important part. The plot is raw and banal. The film lacked originality. I want to praise the work of the cameraman. Many beautiful shots of the forest, and especially remember the scene of a fire in the forest.
Epilogue. At the box office, the film sagged, it collected only 23 million. This picture is definitely one time, because I feel sorry for my time to watch it again. Jolie returned to the movies unsuccessfully. Two of her extreme paintings, I think, failed. Those who wish me dead are a miserable travesty of the Windy River. Sheridan failed to replicate the success of the Wind River. All you need, I said, then decide for yourself whether to watch or not.

How Angelina Jolie ruined the film with her beauty
I always thought Angelina Jolie's name in the credits would ensure the film was good. But that's not accurate.
In general, I fell for the fact that in the new film “Those who wish me death” the main character is played by the main beauty of Hollywood. Despite her mature age, she still drives men crazy and is considered an icon. Girls make lips like hers, cheekbones like hers, and now a lower jaw with notorious corners like hers.
It didn’t hurt Angelina’s career before, but something clearly went wrong in the new film. I didn't believe her. From the first minutes of her appearance on the screen, when seemingly tragic events were shown, I became ridiculous.
Why?
Because Angelina's glamorous face, which is supposed to express horror, regret, grief, expressed only ... a beautiful profile. It was like she was just admiring herself in the picture. No emotion, no play. Only beautiful makeup, lips and corners that all copy.
A movie about firefighters. The plot is simple: the heroine Jolie is experiencing trauma due to the loss of a subordinate, and then suddenly fate presents a chance to save a new person. Not just a child, but a child.
By the way, there are a lot of questions about the story too. The scriptwriters considered that it is not necessary to go into details, and so it will go, the main thing is that Angelina is in the frame, because the main mix remains something deliberate, written only to introduce the child to the plot, and place all the other characters in the right places so that Angelina begins to save them.
But you don't believe her! She's not a firefighter. Not at all! With perfect makeup, hairstyle, from which a hair will not break out, with a snow-white smile, picture falls and heroic decisions on camera.
Even not particularly impressive film "Fire" with Khabensky and that, more believable. Because everyone's in soot and nobody's worried about what he looks like. (The points don’t count, they quickly faded into the background.) )
No, Angelina doesn't look in the mirror every minute of the day, but her perfect beauty in this film is out of place. You could at least wash her makeup off. Or even make it less obvious. Really, what kind of makeup? I think that’s the last thing a firefighter cares about.
Perhaps this is why women in Russia are forbidden to be women. Though I don't think our woman would wear makeup to go to a fire. She goes to save lives, after all. I think a glamorous girl who can't live without an iPhone, makeup and a cocktail in her hand won't go to the fire department. Only if you're arguing.
I don't recommend watching. Only if you want to entertain yourself and appreciate the still beautiful Angelina.
Not really. Don't either. They beat her. Also beautiful.
Accountant Owen saw things he shouldn't have seen in his reports, and now two hit men are on his trail. Along with his son, Owen went on the run. But it is difficult for an ordinary person to hide from professional killers, especially when choosing a close relative as a refuge. What is it, the lack of writers or the stupidity of the main character? History is silent, but without it there would be no film.
Color "Those who wish me death" - paratroopers firefighters, cool guys, endless forests and fires. Angelina Jolie plays a cool firefighter with PTSD syndrome because of the children she was unable to save during her work. But fate gave her a second chance, and now she has to save the son of an accountant - Connor, who is ordered to be liquidated as a witness. So, the killers are following in the footsteps of the main characters, and one of the assassins is played by Aidan Gillen, familiar to many on the series Game of Thrones. They try to catch up with the creeps, ruthlessly killing civilians in their path. At one point, they even said to set the pregnant woman on fire alive with the child, but then one of the killers (apparently, fearing that the film would not be missed in the rental?) asked if his partner was all right or he was a little overworked.
Child protection, care for a child who has fallen into a difficult, even deadly, life situation, such as Angelina Jolie close, as she in reality brings up six children, three of whom are adopted. An adult, wise and persistent boy, through tears, overcomes dangerous situations and helps to fight killers. Thunderclouds, lightning and computer flames of fire create a corresponding formidable atmosphere, against which the killers follow the trail of their victims. But there are only two killers, otherwise our heroes could compete with them? Of course not. Some scenes raise questions. When the killer doesn’t shoot at the moment when logically it was necessary to shoot... or when he should have acted, and when he runs out of ammunition at the most inopportune moment. Lucky accident? Well, well. Firefighters against killers, and for some reason the situation is not in favor of the latter.

'The streams lead to the rivers. And rivers lead to cities.
From a young age, Taylor Sheridan did not dream of a cinematic career, but as is often the case due to certain circumstances, he took up acting. But by his own admission, Taylor Sheridan quickly realized that he would not be able to become a big actor due to his limited talent, and all his works were mostly very small short-term roles. When Taylor Sheridan finally became convinced that he could not count on larger and more serious appearances in films, he retrained as a screenwriter. At first, he did not even know how to do it, but the perseverance and understanding that it is necessary to support the family, gave its pleasant dividends. So in 2015, the action-packed police thriller “Killer” was released, which was marked by a large number of nominations. Success inspired Sheridan and the next year after the premiere of “Killers”, according to his script, a new film – “At Any Cost” is released. For this work, Sheridan is nominated for an Oscar. And in the same year, another Sheridan film “The Windy River” was released, where he also became its director and became a laureate of the Cannes Festival.
The films The Killer, At Any Cost and The Windy River were included in the so-called "frontier trilogy" because of the location of the films - everything takes place in the zone of development of the Wild West, with which plots of Western films are often associated. But Taylor Sheridan everything happens in modern times, so the dashing cowboys in his films the viewer will not see. But in 2021, the “frontier trilogy” with the release of another action thriller “Those Who Wish Me Dead”, where Taylor Sheridan again took the director’s chair, and together with screenwriter Charles Leavitt adapted Michael Corita’s book, expanded to a “frontier tetralogy” as the film takes place in Montana in the area of the National Reserve and the surrounding large forest. The main characters in the film are Hannah Faber performed by Angelina Jolie and the young actor Finn Little, who played Connor Casserly. In addition, the film involved Nicholas Holt and Aidan Gillen, who embodied the images of their son and father, respectively, and are hired killers. In addition, notable roles have John Bernthal, Medina Senghoure and Tyler Perry.
So, as you can guess, the main character will be the heroine of Angelina Jolie, because they are the first star of the film “Those who wish me death”. At the beginning of the film, her Hannah works as a fire warden, and previously she worked as a rescuer in a parachute squad, but after the tragic events moved to another, more calm and safe position. However, she doesn’t know that all her skills will soon be needed, and she’s also an expert in wildlife survival. After all, she discovers in her estate a frightened boy who tells the terrible story of the assassination of two heartless mercenaries. Remembering those past tragic events in which Hannah indirectly blames herself, the girl takes responsibility for the fight to save the boy, and also becomes the target of the killers as a threat to witness testimony. And the persecutors are particularly cynical and cruel: they are ready to go to the most extreme measures, as long as the child and the woman who stood up for him died. And this leads to a string of bloody crimes.
And since the main antagonists are so frightening with their excessive cruelty, the viewer, in theory, should feel real hatred for these two killers. I must say that Nicholas Holt and Aidan Gillen tried to convey their characters as convincingly as possible, so sometimes the emotional state of their game was really realistic. But still, at some points, it seemed that even in the plot these villains go beyond all limits, so that the thriller “Those who wish me death” in some places reached the level of fiction. But I am sure that many people had a clear opinion that the play of Angelina Jolie will eclipse some of the flaws. However, that did not happen. And it seems that on the one hand, the actress, who is still on the top list of the sexiest women in the world, feels perfectly in the shoes of a fearless rescuer, ready to risk her life for someone else’s child, but on the other hand, she looks so self-confident from the very beginning of the film that the whole intrigue subsides in degree of tension. And Taylor Sheridan’s films have always had a contaminated atmosphere, from which it was secretly exciting, but in this case you do not fully experience it.
And kind of like Taylor Sheridan used his favorite tricks that influenced the viewer to really appreciate his work, but in the thriller “Those who wish me dead” something went wrong. And the saddest thing is that the play of Angelina Jolie, who could triumphantly return to the world cinema with this role, was not convinced at all, but she flaunts her courage and skills too much, as if she carries the answer to all sexists. But was this what Taylor Sheridan’s painting required? And if you choose between Jolie and Elizabeth Olsen from Windy River, the sympathies will be on the side of the second. Atmosphere, suspense, moments of action – all this could not impress in “Those who wish me death”.

Everything is beautiful in this film, including the unfinished plot, so if you want to make an obscene mockery, be sure to watch!
Accountant Owen learns something compromising important people, so together with his young son Conor becomes a target for a couple of killers. Escape, Owen and Conor travel to Montana, where the boy's uncle lives. It is also home to Hannah, the former head of firefighters. A year ago, children died in a wildfire due to Hannah’s mistake, and now she works as a simple observer on a fire tower.
I recommend the film to anyone who is in a bad mood. This creation consists entirely of absurdities and blunders, and it is simply impossible to approach it seriously. The most important misunderstanding is the choice for the main role of Angelina Jolie, who runs for more than an hour with a single expression on her face. And I thought, although I may be wrong, the role was written for her.
The next big, even global, problem is a script similar to a children’s essay. Viewers will never know what sacred knowledge Owen possessed, as well as who his knowledge could harm. The writers simply forgot about this tiny detail, bringing to the fore the inhuman coolness of Jolie. The heroine of Angelina does not burn in the fire, does not sink in the water, lightning does not take her, mother earth does not accept (who needs such a fool). But Hannah groans beautifully, treating her own wounds, the viewer will enjoy moaning twice.
In general, strong women became the highlight of the film. If the male characters here are lubricated and predictable, then it is not possible to guess what this or that lady will throw out. I was particularly pleased with the sheriff's wife, who was riding while pregnant. Compared to her and Hannah, two superkillers seem like children with stick guns.
A separate conversation deserves an event series. It feels like everyone in the movie lives in a vacuum and doesn’t even look out the window. To notice the fire in the forest, valiant firefighters took a day. And when the ashes fly in the air, the pregnant sheriff's wife comforts her husband: "Soon they will pick up the planes." I wonder what the firefighters have been doing all this time. And that kind of nonsense everywhere. The only person who did a good job from start to finish was Conor, Finn Little.
The special effects here are just toys, which is especially noticeable in the 9th minute when Hannah parachutes. Don’t ask why there will be a surprise. On this stage I laughed in my voice.
I’ll probably stop here, but still advise you to stock up on delicious things and watch a movie. For the sake of laughter, to unload the brain.

I haven’t written reviews for a long time, but after watching this film, I really wanted to share my thoughts, because you won’t see so many shoals and idiocy in one film every day.
Let's start with the plot. It can be seen that the writers did not bother much and the set-up is presented as simply as possible. I don’t want to spoil it, but the questions are: ' Why?' ' Who?', ' Why?' You will ask yourself more than once during the viewing, but the movie does not give answers to them. There is a major evil out there that sends killers to remove the accountant, but the details and nuances of the whole story are too few. The plot is very weak.
To how the character of Angelina Jolie is written in principle, there are no complaints. A person is working slowly, trying to cope with the consequences of psychological trauma. However, her appearance is something - a chic hairstyle, inflated lips, a mountain of tonal cream ... Or maybe I'm behind life and women in the heart of America are all so well-groomed now? It feels like a glamorous model popped into the woods of Montana by accident from some social millionaire party! Well, she doesn't look like a woman working as a lifeguard somewhere out there! In general, the appearance of Jolie immediately caused confusion and laughter. Other incomprehensible moments related to the superpowers of her character. The film does not explain how a fragile woman, falling from a tower of twenty meters and later even receiving a lightning strike, gets off with light abrasions. How so, Carl? Here I immediately came to mind the character of Bruce Willis from the film ' Invulnerable' but there we knew why his character could suffer any damage, in the same picture there are no such explanations, it seems quite normal.
Separately, I must say about the character of Medina Senghoure. I think 'something there' Ripley and Sarah Connor didn’t stand beside her because even they couldn’t do what she could. Just think - an African-American pregnant woman who shoots with a sniper is also on equal terms fighting a hardened killer in tactics! No, I've seen a lot in movies and I know it's fashionable to show women being very strong today, but it's something new. Too much, to say the least. I want a prequel with this character! And then it is not clear how she became so 'terminator'. It seems very funny, but on the other hand it is very sad that such characters are increasingly flashing on screens.
The fire in the movie looks pretty cheap. Allegedly there was a huge fire, but we show it very little and camera. It does not seem that the characters of the film are in great danger. Did the whole budget go to the appearance of Angelina?
Is there anything good in the painting? Yes, these are the characters of Aidan Gillen, Nicholas Holt and John Bertnal. I have a lot of respect for these actors. The first two played a couple of killers well and it’s not their fault that the further, the more ' dulls' their characters, all thanks to the idiotic script, but at first they looked really good. Bertnal is just serving a room here, but in general, the picture does not spoil.
Outcome: In general, the movie looks like a low-budget B movie, with the number of idiotic moments exceeding any norm. It is a pity, because the actors and the director are worthy.
Producing countries - Canada, USA. And since Canada, there will be violence in B movies. Canada is known as the "B" film factory for the United States. Director Sheridan focused on women killers. The film emphasizes that a pregnant woman can kill, ride a horse and take revenge. The sponsors, the gun manufacturers, emphasize: “A woman can kill, and a pregnant woman can also take revenge.” Americans turn violence into an act of worship. And the B movies are about murder for murder. The 21st century dictates that there are children in the film. Therefore, it is necessary to kill villains, even pregnant women. Actor Finn Little perfectly played a frightened boy. Again, the amazing fact is: “Why do you need bulletproof vests, if they are so easy to kill?”
Actress Angelina Jolie played firefighter Hannah. Her plump lips, pumped with injections, are only pleasant to look at with makeup. But here in carbon monoxide, her face looks like Frankenstein. Jolie doesn't look very good in the picture. It must be a passing movie for her. Jolie's face without makeup looks very miserable. Here she plays a firefighter who can't survive her mistake. Category B movies have corrupted the American audience. Now female stars are ready to appear without makeup and kill for nothing.
I really liked the actor John Bernthal. He's a great assistant sheriff. Violence from women is sponsored by the kings of the gun market. The film focuses on pregnancy and rescue through murder.
I didn't like the movie. It's too simple. The installation is simple, without interest made. The movie is very boring. It's a failure for Jolie.
The main character of the film is the hairstyle of Angelina Jolie.
A little boy, accidentally witnessing a murder, hides from bandits in a remote forest. There he meets a brave forester woman (the word has a feminitative form?) A ranger? Ladder? Is that what they say? A tough lady will show everyone who owns this forest.
What's good about the movie? Luxury views of the North American wilderness. The endless forest, running over the horizon of the highway, a tall observation tower, in which the main character sits. I would love to spend a couple of days like that.
What's wrong with the movie? Unfortunately, almost everything else. It's an unusually stamped story, which is also very obliquely told. The forester woman is very smart and brave, and the bandits are just very stupid and always give her a head start. Artistic convention is brought to absurdity and causes first a laugh, and then begins to irritate. The main character of the whole film walks with long hair lower than the shoulders. With this hairstyle, she runs through the woods, breaks through the bushes, fights, dives headlong into the water, lies in the mud, but in the next frame she always has a flawless styling! The other character, who suffered 80 percent burns to his body, continues to move and fight as if nothing had happened.
Although the picture has a decent budget, it surprises with its intimacy and cheapness. All this is like one passing series of some crime series, stretched out suddenly for an hour and a half. However, you can recommend a movie if you have nothing to do. But you can miss it, you will not lose anything.

If you’re not the most talented actor, and yet you want to fulfill your potential and succeed no matter what, then you have a few options to restart your career. The example of Ronald Reagan shows that actors can easily move from acting to politics, which is also partly a fake art sphere, and at the same time earn the status of the President himself. However, in most cases, not the most successful and popular performers still try to stay in the field of cinema and try their hand at writing scripts and directing. Today, few people remember exactly who Sofia Coppola, Rob Reiner and Ron Howard portrayed in front of the camera lens, and nevertheless, the change of creative roles definitely benefited them, and their films, shot as directors, repeatedly pleased even the most pretentious critics. And so in the footsteps of his successful colleagues decided to go also Taylor Sheridan, who for twenty years wandered from one series to another, but could not turn into a genuine high-class celebrity. Of course, Sheridan received offers of cooperation, but his fees began to fall rapidly, from which he eventually decided to take a risky step and retrained as a rather successful playwright. Having written the script for the intense crime thriller ' The Killer' Denny Villeneuve, Sheridan achieved considerable success and later decided not only to give his ideas to third-party directors, but also to make films on his own in order to realize his true potential in practice. And just one of Sheridan’s films, in the creation of which he participated both as a director and as a screenwriter, was 'Those who wish me death'.
So, the plot of the film introduces us to the professional rescuer Hannah (Angelina Jolie), in whose life came a very gloomy streak. Some time ago, the woman faced a great disaster and could not save the teenagers who were consumed by the fire. Unable to carry out her direct duties and descend into the burning forest by parachute, Hannah is transferred to a remote observation post to try to put her thoughts in order, away from all the fuss and unnecessary attention of outsiders. However, voluntary isolation does not lead to anything good, and a woman is increasingly thinking about something bad. However, she still manages to dispel past phobias and fears, only the reason for this is not the most favorable circumstance. Faced with a boy named Connor (Finn Little), Hannah learns that he is in mortal danger. The fact is that the father of the child was killed by professional killers, who are gradually approaching him. Knowing perfectly well that Connor will not survive without her help, Hannah decides to help the child and goes through the impenetrable wooded terrain in search of help, but she should also take into account the fact that her opponents will not only be only murderers, but also a fire element that reawakens the ghosts of the recent past.
In most of his previous directorial and screenplay work, Taylor Sheridan never put a serious emphasis on a twisted, unpredictable storyline in which something unexpected constantly pops up, as he wanted to first reveal complex, ambiguous and definitely intriguing human characters before the eyes of the audience. Being a professional actor for a long time, Sheridan put together his special idea of what kind of cinema should be and what kind of dramatic place should performers occupy in it. Sheridan himself rarely managed to show his best qualities on the set under the guidance of other directors, and therefore, having received the right to lead the creative process, he began to give his already wards actors what he considered the most important. In its best form, Sheridan’s directorial style manifested itself in the film ' Windy River' in which Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner played some of their most memorable roles, becoming a real decoration of a cold, gloomy film, the plot of which was not strikingly complex, but in dramatic terms it was still incredibly fascinating. And it is quite logical that something similar should also be expected from the thriller & #39;Those who wish me dead'. But this time it didn’t go exactly as planned.
The script of the film was based on a rather extensive novel by Michael Korit, which combined both a tense action component and a strong drama, which now and then intersects with the detective. Taylor Sheridan needed to cut all possible plot elements organically in order to correctly turn a popular source into a fascinating film, but something went wrong. In the film Sheridan really a lot of events, the story does not stand still, but because of such an abundance of dialogues, situations and other inputs, 'Those who wish me death', turns into a rather superficial work, which seems at one moment catches something really interesting, but then shifts our attention to something else, and at the same time does not finish past successful initiatives. But in the arsenal of Sheridan were such far from the last performers as Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Holt and John Bernthal, and they once again were able to prove that they have something to please the audience, but the director does not give them enough time to reveal, although it is still clear that he treats colleagues with respect and, if possible, gives them valuable screen time. The only problem is that the original novel would most likely be worth making a mini-series, or turn it into a brisk action, in order to present the audience with a rich spectacle, not sprayed with drama and various revelations, which still were not brought to the point of the highest artistic boil.
In the end, I want to say that 'Those who wish me dead', came out quite tolerable film, and yet in the career of director and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan there are many more strong and interesting work that really deserve attention. And yet, if you have a desire to look at Angelina Jolie in the next emergency situation and enjoy the beautiful forest landscapes, which are gradually engulfed by fire, then this story in principle can be noted in your personal list for familiarization.
Hannah, a member of the Fire and Rescue Parachute Squad, is trying to survive an incident that has claimed the lives of three children. One day, while descending from the observation tower, she meets a 12-year-old boy in blood and begins to help him.
The plot twists quickly, while much remains unsaid. The nuances are not clear to the very end: there are ardent villains, and who they are, to what they belong, why do evil, what exactly is the apple of discord? What kind of person is the criminal community giving orders to find the boy? Yeah, something secret/terrible came out of the stash. But not so good, and everything works out smoothly.
And yet, with the existing illogicality and simplification, the film is quite watchable. Sheridan managed to show the vastness of forest Montana (and from a bird's eye view). And of course, harshly and uncompromisingly, the director tests his characters. The tape keeps in suspense, and the cast copes with their tasks (albeit not very bright). It was interesting to look at Angie in an unusual role, she even goes (opening the parachute from the cargo, quickly getting off the rope from the tower). The bet was made on Angelina - that's justified. The forests are burning and Jolie cries spectacularly (with a personal psychological trauma, the whole drama of the heroine) while quickly running and knows which parts of the opponent to wave an axe. Finn Little's teen debut has taken place. Nicolas Holt - eyes turned, you can add to this: ' Fear has big eyes' More effective yet, he was able to terrorize and play on the nerves of the Favorites / Marlborough / Abigail.
Yes, Taylor Sheridan did not direct the second Windy River, with its strong spirit of America’s outback and tough history. And we got an average action thriller. Well, at least the main message here remains clear: how broken and broken people reach out to each other through their injuries and difficulties.
Angelina with heaven, and a pair of demons with machines
Writer and director Taylor Sheridan is a master of unusual criminal plots. But this time, I think he made one of his worst movies.
In principle, it can be called a one-time action movie, and the participation of good actors only fuels interest in the film.
The plot intrigue swirls from the very beginning: a couple of guys go home and kill people who are directly related to the judicial system. In parallel, we are told about the rebel heroine Angelina Jolie, who lives in a small town by the woods, works in the local forest fire service and has a small problem with the sheriff. In the past, this woman has a psychological trauma that prevents her from living normally. As is usually the case in this kind of film, these two storylines cross quite quickly.
The film is filled with a special hard atmosphere, which is able to create Taylor Sheridan. There is a lot of blood and blood in it too.
How did I get interested in Sheridan’s films? I answer: realism and deep subtext. There's nothing like that in this movie. Here we get a flat action movie "for the Weekend" with a fabulous filling, a bunch of beautiful special effects, but without much depth.
What is realistic about this film? Pregnant African-American woman on horseback with a gun? The heroine of Jolie, falling from a height of several tens of meters and standing up with the word "oh"? So I want to shout in the best traditions of Stanislavsky: “I do not believe!”
However, as a commercial action movie, where the characters do strange improbable things with a serious expression – this film can be accepted. And even to watch once.
Although... you can not look – you will not see anything new in it.
The trailer for Taylor Sheridan's new film 'Those Who Wish Me Dead' evoked strong associations with the action movies of the 1990s. Let me remind you that the image of a strong woman in films was present and, I must say, much more relevant (the most obvious examples are Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley or Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor) than in any modern film. However, Sheridan almost managed to make the perfect feminist film.
Angelina Jolie Hannah is an experienced firefighter who was temporarily suspended from working in the fields (almost literally) due to her unstable mental state. The fact is that a woman is too often visited by thoughts of suicide, and all because of the teenagers who died in the next fire. Who would have thought that it was far from civilization that she would again try to save a little boy and not only from a fire. . .
In general, the role of a strong woman for Jolie is far from new. This image has long been glued to her and, I must admit, it suits her very well. Another thing is the pregnant wife of a deputy sheriff who manages to escape from professional killers. Such a scene is weakly justified even by the usual cinematic curvature of antiheroes and the sudden success of positive characters. It seems that Medina Senghoure was added to the plot only to make the offended minorities not too resentful. And after all, there are no representatives of non-traditional orientation and criminally many whites are not order.
The film could have turned out even better if the authors had revealed Hannah a little better. Sheridan too superficially treated the past of the protagonist. In this particular case, it would be appropriate to describe how she once worked in the police/special forces/military. Such a move would at the same time explain how she can almost equally fight with a trained mercenary, and would make the main character more interesting and deeper, and even fit the Western agenda. But a black pregnant woman, tracking the forests of killers, in this context looks ridiculous.
'Those who wish me dead' is a really good action movie. In some places he is stupid, the script as if raw or censored at the last minute, the story ends almost in the middle, but in the modern world it is difficult to find a normal action movie with a female character in the lead role. And this film is quite a good representative of the genre. All in all, we have to say ' thank you'
Screenwriters in Hollywood are like players in casinos, or rather in roulette, when betting on red or black. You can bet on one value, or you can hope on intuition. So in the movie business, either you know what you're doing, or you trust the inner self, and at some point you're waiting for the happy streak to end. Taylor Sheridan is a prime example in this analogy. After the super-successful script “Killers”, and immediately followed by an Oscar nomination for the script “At Any Cost”, there is “Wind River” that satisfied all parties, and critics and ordinary viewers. Moreover, in this film, Sheridan acted both as an author and as a director, thereby showing his potential (increasing the stakes). Someday it was supposed to end, and the creaky adopted sequel, Killers, was supposed to prepare for a not-so-soft landing. And so it turned out, the subsequent script of the mediocre “No pity” with Michael B. Jordan did not go to anyone, and the interest was not extensive. But “Those who wish me death” on paper was promising, with stars of different sizes and a neat cute approach.
The film brings the two stories together. On one side is an accountant with information that could ruin the lives of big people. These same big men use mercenaries to eliminate accountant Owen. Owen, in turn, goes on the run, taking his son. And at the point where the father and son are going, a woman firefighter (Jolie) arrives and will be forced to help those in need.
The plot is ornate, for good, and on paper it looks quite strong, especially with a wonderful cast: Jolie, Holt, Bernthal, Gillen and even Perry in a cameo role. But this is where the advantage ends.
Sheridan, realizing that the story is potentially strong, the cast and relative freedom from the studio (for successful projects in the past), could not produce a cool performance. The story is dead, not included in the details of any characters.
There is Jolie's heroine, Hannah, a firefighter who survived the tragedy on her last mission. That's it. We are shown that she suffers from PTSD, she cannot forgive herself for it, she has no meaning in life. Flat character, unencumbered.
The policeman in Bernthal’s performance is simply fulfilling his mission because it is necessary. The killers are trying to do their job because they have to, they've always done it, and this time it's no exception.
Sheridan’s early works were famous for having hyperrealism. That's what bribed me. He's not here. And sometimes, on the contrary, it goes into an easy absurdity. It is clear that the picture is designed for greater audience interest, but grinding to such an extent seems superfluous.
The film is strong, linear and pretentious. Yes, with plot holes, yes, with not the best graphics, but trying to seem something more. Many turned out to be interested, but to captivate and keep, Sheridan, who was torn in the role of screenwriter and director, turned out badly. This is especially true after his great work.
Experiencing difficult times, Hannah (Angelina Jolie) works on one of the fire towers in the forests of Montana. She was sent there to put everything in her head, because the recent death of one of her subordinates and three children in the fire does not give her peace. After a while in the woods, she finds a boy, followed by two assassins. The virgin forest of Montana turns into a fierce battlefield, in which the one with the weapon in hand is not always the winner. And for Hannah herself, protecting the boy turns into a real chance to atone for her sins, like hope for healing after that terrible tragedy.
As in “Wind River” in this film Taylor Sheridan starred John Bernthal, the main star was Angelina Jolie, plus they were added Nicholas Holt, Tyler Perry, as well as Aidan Gillen.
In terms of entertainment, “Those Who Wish Me Die” turned out very good, with an abundance of drive moments that contrasted particularly well against the backdrop of quiet peaceful forests. The plot component, in comparison with the entertainment, turned out to be less qualitative, because some moments were missed, and some were not pressed (or vice versa).
So, about the kinship of the characters Holt and Gillen in the film is not mentioned, although they are each other or brothers, or are son and father, respectively (on the English page of the film in Wikipedia, they have the same surnames). The reason for hunting a man and his son is known only so much that the viewer understands that there is a reason (but no more). How do the characters constantly spin in the same forest area, although given the scale of the wild wilds, you can try to get lost so that neither enemies nor friends will find you?
But at the same time, the film has a clear overkill with heroism in relation to some characters. No, I believe that there are strong-spirited women, but the heroine of Medina Senghoure made it clear that she will give a head start to a Russian woman: she, being late in pregnancy and shoots a gun, and jumps on a horse, and runs fast, and climbs stairs, and moreover, she manages to cook! And even a white man could snatch myself (reminiscent, by the way, of “The Hunt for Santa” with Mel Gibson)! Not someone, but a deputy sheriff.
But Patrick and Jake, played by Nicholas Holt and Aidan Gillen turned out to be exemplary villains. At times, moments of pity and compassion glimpse in their eyes, but animal behavior and bloodlust still outweigh and compassion fades as quickly as it burst into flames. Principled, cold-blooded, methodical - in a word, the kind of killers should be!
It was nice to see Angelina Jolie in the role of an ordinary woman (although the voice in the cartoon or the image in “Malificent” is also good), which has not happened for quite a long time. She looks beautiful, of course. At 45 (oh, sorry, 18!) she's damn good.
Unlike many films where the characters have to survive in the wild, in “Those who wish me dead” there are no scenes with setting traps, digging holes, crossing cliffs or rafting on mountain rivers. Survival in this film is reduced to the use of simple skills: running on the field during lightning, using spray as a flamethrower, diving into the water during a fire - all quite simple, but at the same time very effective and does not cause questions.
You probably shouldn’t have expected Taylor Sheridan to make every movie he directed or scripted at the same level as At Any Cost or Windy River. It is difficult to find a director whose projects would always keep a consistently high bar and “Those Who Wish Me Die” refers partly to those projects that turned out good, but no more.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Taylor Sheridan can definitely be called one of the most prominent and beloved by both viewers and critics of directors and screenwriters of modern cinema. Having worked on such iconic projects as Yellowstone, Killer, Windy River and At Any Cost, Sheridan has long managed to turn his name into a full-fledged brand that actually calls for viewing. Promising something at least interesting and worthy. “Those who wish me to die” is no exception.
The plot of this film revolves around a rescuer from a fire and parachute squad who tries to survive a tragic incident that claimed the lives of three people. Going to patrol a remote area of the forest, Hannah unexpectedly meets to death a frightened 12-year-old boy, who is hunted by two professional killers.
The script of this tape causes a slightly mixed impression. On the one hand, we have an overly simple and perhaps even clichéd plotting, which is absolutely not characteristic of Sheridan’s work and willingly played out in a huge number of similar paintings. On the other hand, it was Sheridan’s copyrights with his pronounced handwriting that made the story much more interesting than it could have been authored by another filmmaker.
Firstly, similar to almost all of Sheridan’s works as a screenwriter, the picture willingly bribes with the most vivid, characteristic and really interesting characters with a really tangible background and decently realized relationships, the reality of which you sincerely want to believe. Secondly, despite the rather simple and clichéd story, some of Sheridan’s copyrights brought maximum realism to the story. If it were another director’s film, it would be another version of Die Hard, with Jolie’s character being a firefighter easily throwing off trained murders. In this case, everything is presented much more realistic and at the same time exciting.
The director of this tape Taylor Sheridan shot a really worthy adventure action movie, which on the one hand pays tribute to the good old action films of the 90s. However, at the same time, it brings to everything the necessary depth, dramatic saturation and definitely author’s weight. Thus, creating the impression of a really interesting symbiosis of action adventure and drama. Moreover, willingly capturing stunning beauty frame. Especially to the luxurious music of composer Brian Tyler, which can definitely be called one of the best in the work of the composer. Especially the main musical theme of the film.
One of the main advantages of this tape is also the appointment of Angelina Jolie for one of the main roles. In recent years, Jolie is extremely rare in films and due to this, each work of the actress is worth its weight in gold. In this case, Jolie gave a really strong and sincere game. No less worthy was Finn Little, who, despite her young age, gave out a really natural and worthy game. It is impossible not to mention Aidan Gillen and Nicholas Holt, who look extremely confident in the images of the central villains of this tape. Especially Holt, who appeared in an atypical role for himself. No less worthy played and John Bernthal, who again demonstrated a complete immersion in his image on the screen.
8 out of 10
Those who wish me dead is another worthy work of a very talented and beloved by both audiences and critics director and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan. Sheridan shot more than a worthy adventure action movie, which on the one hand is made in the best traditions of the 90s, and on the other hand abstracts from excessive emphasis on entertainment and brings a certain depth and drama to the picture. The masterpiece and the best work in the work of Sheridan film is not called. But this film will definitely not be boring.
The writers have run out of fantasy. The whole movie is based on a witness chase. At the same time, the chase is strange, the characters behave very cunningly then as stupidly as possible, they have principles, then no. The actions of the main characters are illogical. The film of this genre clearly lacks tension and dynamics. The ending is predictable, as is the final. Directing is mediocre. Disappointment. . .
The film was held in theaters quietly, almost imperceptibly, but is it deserved?
The main roles are quite eminent actors, a beautiful picture, a great atmosphere and a quite convincing scenario. Although cinema is far from ideal, it is sad to see how cinema has collected a pitiful million dollars outside the United States.
Strengths:
1. Acting. That’s what makes the movie interesting in the first place. Everyone plays well, even a child who exudes grief and fear. I also like the movie veteran Angelina Jolie.
2. Picture. The people responsible for the cameraman, the lighting, the entourage and the effects - all did the right thing. The eyes rejoice in the picturesque picture.
3. The whole idea. Films of this genre do not differ in the scale of what is happening. And that's the great thing. Deep down, everyone knows why the characters become more alive and they want to empathize when villains begin to loom on the horizon.
4. Movie language. What is famous for cinema - subtexts, metaphors and intricacies of fate - all in place, there are not so many of them, but they are literate. We are introduced to the problems of the characters, their experiences and values, competent interaction of the characters pleases.
Now on to the weaknesses:
1. Invincible villains lose. The cliche of many films, this is no exception. We are first given to understand that the antagonists are very dangerous and really smart, and then in the end they start doing everything wrong.
2. It's not all right. The right sheriff wants to help, but he can't. A pregnant woman shows unprecedented speed, strength, accuracy and agility, sometimes she is cooler than professional killers. The confusion is out. Surely it’s all about the feminist agenda, but in such a serious movie it looks very strange.
3. Cliché! There are a lot of them here, most of all in the final.
4. Not a very important sin, but a long swing. Cinema is not in a hurry, this is good, but still the main catalyst happens a little late, and before that we are long shown two storylines that could be connected earlier.
Those Who Wish Me Dead, 2021 is one of those movies that interested me in the trailer. And, you know, overall expectations were met. But everything in order.
The film has 3 story lines that intersect along the course of the narrative. In my purely subjective view, the story of the heroine Angelina Jolie in this picture is absolutely unnecessary. It stands out both in tempo and accents and flashbacks that the heroine will have throughout the film. At least it is not necessary, as a maximum it distracts from the main action. I do not rule out that initially a broader vision of this character was conceived, but in post-production everything was cut. The minus can also be attributed to the fact that a person with the appearance of Jolie is engaged in saving forests from fires. Of course, I understand, but it looks ridiculous, that's honest. It’s like Brad Pitt being a tanker... ah, yeah... movie ' Fury' (long laugh). Another disadvantage is the strange behavior of the main villains. It seems that the characters already ' did not take out ' in the end, and the writers just began to help them at every step. It looked a little strange and stood out from the general, you can say, coolness of the villains at the beginning of the film.
If we talk about the pluses of the picture, then undoubtedly everything is at a very high level. Except that the graphics of fire and explosions in places catch the eye, but these are small things. I really, really liked the scene on the road. It was shot so natural and cool, the director needs to give credit. Good work of the operator, great acting. the main character - the boy tried straight for the Oscars. I cried in almost every frame, and the cameraman filmed and filmed it (this is nitpicking, but it was also a strange idea to film the boy’s cry almost point-blank to face and so on 3-4 times). According to the characters, perhaps, you can add another spoonful of tar - this is not a disclosure, a complete disclosure of some characters. If, for example, to cut the story arc of the character Jolie, then this time would be enough to reveal other characters and the film could turn out much more coherent and dynamic.
As a result, we can say that against the background of the poorest number of good movies this year - the film turned out to be average, but quite good and interesting. I looked at it with pleasure, but not without the nuances I wrote about above.
PS: I recommend you watch. Nice movie. You can't go to the movies.
“Those Who Wish Me Die” is the title of the new film starring Angelina Jolie.
The film was directed by this Taylor Sheridan, screenwriter, director and producer, who applied his talent to the creation of such films as “At Any Cost”, “Wind River”, the dilogy “Killer”, the series “Yellowstone”. Sheridan can rightfully be called a master of criminal thriller, action movie and neo-western.
His new film... He's not bad. Not bad, yeah. But from the master + Jolie personally, I expected a lot more. We are shown in many ways long ago, in fact, beaten history. There’s a veteran (Jolie, who plays a parachutist for the Forest Fire Service) who suffers from PTS, drinks, and does all sorts of things. He is expected to be pushed farther away. And then, suddenly, his help is desperately needed.
There was one older accountant. And he excavated something terrible once. But since Ben Affleck did not play him at the peak of his form, he did not take out a large-caliber rifle, and together with his son decided to run away far, far away. And in his footsteps went a couple of frostbitten killers, members of some cool criminal (with connections at almost the top) community.
I liked the way the boy played. He played like a normal kid who was in a terrible situation. Naive and natural. Jolie played well, but she still overplayed. Sheriff, his assistant... They were natural. Like the fire brigade.
In general, the film turned out very beautiful. And it's pretty good that it's neo-Western. This is a story about how in the mountain deaf people came together with pistols, machine guns and rifles. They found out on whose side the truth was. And there is just a magnificently terrible and at the same time a beautiful forest fire. Great sight on the big screen! And, alas, probably still cooler than our recent "Fire" will be ...
Overall, I would recommend the film. Beautiful, harsh, with Jolie. And the soundtrack here is also quite pleasant.
If not for Angelina Jolie in one of the leading roles, the new film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” (Those Who Wish Me Dead) most likely would not have noticed. The plot can be expressed in one sentence - the heroine Jolie helps the boy escape from the bandits.
But still, Jolie still attracts the attention of the audience, and is rarely removed – of the latest bright roles is Maleficent, that’s all. But in the film “Eternals” from the Marvel Corporation, Jolie will again be the leading role in the blockbuster, the film will be released soon.
But while "The Eternals" is gone, let's take a closer look at "Those Who Wish Me Die" and see if there's anything interesting about it.
Jolie plays Hannah Faber, a firefighter. Hannah feels guilty for the loss of life and suffers from painful memories. The narration is conducted from two sides at once - a father and a child hurry to meet Hannah, they leave the pursuit. And this is the child Hannah will have to help.
At the heart of the conflict is Hannah's trauma - the past tragedy is shown several times, perhaps according to the writer's logic, it is this event that gives Hannah an additional incentive to help a stranger child and thus make amends for mental suffering.
The story will reach its highest tension when Hannah is again in the same situation as before - she, fire and child.
In fact, the main character of the film is fire. There is a lot of it, it looks realistic and very frightening. But the screenwriter goes to the trick and sometimes uses fire not only as an enemy, but also as a friend - it is with the help of fire that you get to fight off bandits in one of the episodes.
The film has a lot of dynamic scenes - it's chases, and shootouts, and escape from a fire. The heroine of Jolie causes a mixture of sympathy with admiration - although she is afraid of the past, she acts decisively in the present.
Another feature of the film is that there is a lot of nature and this nature is very beautiful - forests and mountains. Filmed in New Mexico, the landscape there is very diverse - from scorched deserts to snowy peaks. Compare the panoramas of this film with the landscapes from the TV series Better Call Saul, which was also shot in the same state, in the city of Albuquerque - these are two big differences.
Despite Jolie, the film's most striking characters are bandits. One of them was played by Nicholas Holt, the same Emperor Peter III from the TV series The Great. Unfortunately, there is a feeling that he was not allowed to turn around a little, but Nicholas still smiles as amusingly as Peter when pointing weapons at his enemies.
They were supposed to look like super professionals. But whether the script somewhere gave a crack, or the acting game made nuances, but the villains look comical in places, and in places, in general, inexcusably shook.
As for the colors, there is a lot of orange – the authors of the film constantly remind, we have here in addition to the villains and fire.
The film turned out to be spectacular, not protracted, but there are a lot of assumptions in it, and if there are plans to enjoy it, then you will have to close your eyes to script mistakes. In the remainder we have a fairly simple thriller with beautiful views, fires and Angelina Jolie. This film will not offer anything new to the viewer, but will be able to entertain fans of the actress while they wait for a new film.
Due to the policy of Warner Bros., the movie was released simultaneously in theaters and streaming, so it will be difficult to understand how many fans the actress has, ready to watch any film with a name on the cover, since there will be no exact data on fees.
Thriller without atmosphere, drama without characters
The main thing that attracts attention to the film is not even the faces of the actors on the poster, but the name of the director and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan. He worked on the scripts of such worthy films as “At Any Cost”, “Killer”, “Wind River”, and for the latter he also acted as a director. It would seem that we have a new promising author, whose films are worth waiting for. It is on this wave in the domestic rental comes the picture “Those who wish me death”.
Somewhere between the “Wind River” and the current premiere, Sheridan’s author’s handwriting was lost. This was noticeable in “Killer 2: Against All”, but there the situation was somewhat corrected by a well-directed action. In “Those Who Wish Me Die” there were no such factors balancing the shortcomings.
It’s hard to say what killed the movie more: the script or the production. Probably the first. Because so many blunders and absurdities would not be corrected by any director. The first two-thirds of the film can still be taken seriously, albeit with an eye to obvious shortcomings, but the third act turns the thriller-action into a real comedy. The actions of the characters become so stupid that they evoke memories of the most incompetent and cliche action films of the 80s and 90s.
The characters themselves are a separate story. There is not a single fully revealed or at least interesting character in the film. Yes, the main character played by Angelina Jolie has a dramatic branch, but it is served so tasteless and clumsy that it would be better if it was not at all.
Actors also do not save the situation, although very well-known faces are crammed into the caste. The main mistake is the same Jolie in the role of the main character. She doesn't belong in this movie, I'm sorry. And she plays here not as skillfully as she can - does not affect her role. Other actors do not spoil the tape with their presence, but do not draw doomedly clichéd characters to the extent that they interest the viewer.
But finally buried the film production – curved, poorly mounted, absolutely unideal, in the best traditions of second-rate film parody. The scene of the fall of the heroine Jolie from the tower is a natural bottom of directing and editing. It's the worst. The other episodes are not much better. And in rare moments, this is mixed with cheap, unneeded graphics.
As a result, we get a thriller without atmosphere, an action movie without a production, a drama without characters, and simply a movie without an idea. It's hard to think of a viewer who might like this movie and the conditions under which you might want to review it. Hard work. And I can’t believe that Taylor Sheridan’s name appears in the credits immediately after the final shots – I expected more from him.
For a long time, Angelina Jolie was not visible on the big screen - except for the children's dilogy ' Malephesent', then, probably since the days 'Tourist' and this is almost 10 years (' Côte d'Azur' you can not take into account its limited release and a modest number of halls), so her new film with a complex name ' Those who wish me dead' (Those Who Wish Me Dead, 2021) should go at least because of her participation in one film, as concentrated in the company.
It is not difficult to remember how at zero each new film with Jolie caused considerable excitement and instantly became a hit at the box office, how directors and studio bosses fought for her, and the main spongy beauty of Hollywood chose her next project. And if we recall the past works of Angelina our Jolie, some bewilderment is caused by her new work - a rather clichéd and average thriller, staged and written by the author of the script of the dilogy 'The Killer' Taylor Sheridan.
We see the usual simple story, which opens the scene ' Dating' with a couple of hapless killers in the person of Nicholas Holt (The Beast of ' X-Men: First Class') and similar to the young Gary Oldman Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger from' Game of Thrones'). Needless to say, these grievous mercenaries are the main engine of the central storyline, although more like the characters of a crime comedy than a serious thriller?
In general, these villains-killers the whole film is pursued at first by a curious and too attentive auditor, and later his son, who is taken to save the firefighter Jolie, who accidentally found herself nearby. Briefly, the whole story. The first half of the film is evenly divided into two parallel lines: Jolie cries all the time for her tragic flashbacks, the boy and his father run away from the villains. As soon as the juicy firefighter intersects with the unfortunate boy, the film turns into a kind of mixture of "Mercury in danger" & #39; and the recent domestic "Fire" & #39;. That is, remaining in fact an action-catch-up, the tape immerses the main characters in the circumstances of a firefighting disaster film. That is, the natural element here serves as a kind of background for the development of events and frail drama, and also unwittingly causes suspicions in a number of scenes of forest fires, no matter how funny it sounds. But it is understandable: the movies are too close to each other in time came to the screens. But it should be noted that the scenes with the fire looked quite spectacular, although they did not reach our production.
As for Angelina Jolie, she seemed to be younger in this tape and resembled more of herself from 'Salt' or even 'Take lives' than in 'Tourist' or 'Côte d'Azur'. The role she had was not a difficult, typical heroine of a rescue action movie, with her own personal psychological trauma of course (well, without the drama of the hero), but it still does not allow to fully reveal the talent of the actress - she has nowhere to run away from the fire. In addition, she was pleased with familiar faces migrated from 'Assassins' John Bernthal (' Punisher', ' Payment', ' Fury') and two of the above mentioned killers-dooths (although they shoot accurately). An important role for the plot was played by the main oppositionist from 'Homeland' Jake Weber. But the main young partner Jolie Fin Little did not demonstrate anything outstanding, but he was not lost behind the eminent partner.
The image of Jolie, in contrast to previous works, was closer to the female protector of the hearth and offspring than to the woman as a source of sexuality, as in the same ' Especially dangerous' or ' Taking lives'. Here she, a mother of many children in life, portrays sincere inexperience, but the desire to help and protect against the background of the actual ignorance of her as a woman by male characters (which was not in the mentioned films), and the operator does not often pay attention to the parts of the actress’ body pleasant to the male eye (although there were a couple of times). It is understandable: still beautiful Jolie has outgrown the type of Hollywood sex symbol, forty after all. And the film itself quite brightened up an hour and a half of life, but it did not become something outstanding. Strongly filmed predictable one-time thriller, essentially watched only because of a rare guest of cinemas with plump lips.
Father and son are fleeing. They are hunted by two super-professional, super-savvy superkillers. The father committed a superhero and super-idiotic act. He stole important papers from his bad uncles, and now, courageously shaking with fear, he drives his car away. . .
In this movie, there's a McGuffin -- linen, written in someone's shaking chicken paw, pieces of paper. What does it say? Who would feel bad if the information contained in them became known to all progressive mankind? The director decided not to focus the viewer’s attention on such trifles. Come up with something. You're used to being chewed, you know. Enough! Time to get out of your comfort zone! If I were a director, I wouldn't finish filming. Breaking the tape, and hissing fire extinguishers. You'll guess how it all ends up. This is the avant-garde.
Very good and the main characters. Masochistic Jolie (Why is she acting like this?) Right! Trauma, trauma, trauma...) clearly high in pain, pours some chemical rubbish on open wounds, and groans orgasmically. The girl falls from a twenty-meter height, without any damage to health, easily tolerates a direct hit of lightning (for example, the strap from the bra melted), the fire does not take it, and the bullets bounce frightenedly. Looking at her face, I couldn’t get rid of the intrusive feeling of déjà vu. Where have I seen this before? Hardly, but I remember. This is a walking monument to Alyonushka in Novovoronezh! The same mindless, empty, tin eyes. Those who call on the lips, call on the lips. The same, by the will of some hackster, inept nose. Add here the unique, spider-like grace - gracefully hanging below the knees, thin hands - sticks, and general arthrinopodity, and you will understand that the monument in Novovoronezh is time to rename the monument to Angelinushka. Why did the director invite her to the lead role? What level of acting skills does she show here? A mystery. Find the answer where the contents of the notes stolen by the mad dad are.
The second heroine named Senghur, even cooler than the first. She really stops the horse and enters the burning hut. At the same time, she is pregnant. ' There are women in the Montana villages, with calm importance of faces, and muscle hard eggs ...'. Men in Montana haven't been born, they're a little small. And the visitors against the duo Jolie - Senghoure will not succumb. That's right, butterflies! It’s time to make movies without men! Without white actors in Hollywood already shoot, and without cisgender men will do.
Yes, there is a crooked Irish drunk Gillen in the film, and also Bernthal, but they are kind of faint, dull against the background of a fire drawn on the computer, and raging Montana housewives.
The film begins with no idea where it ends. What's the whole mess about? How will it end? Who's the main villain? The film is about the struggle between good and evil! Who do good people have to kill in order for good to prevail? No answer. But there are brave firefighters, courageously looking at the fire, and honest, fair (Floyd George will not let you lie) police officers.
I think it was a comedy.
They beat us! A pair of mountain rangers. They beat us! They beat a man that government agents could not get. Getting stuck in the mountains with a sack of shit like you! I have to go. This is my last manhunt! Bye, motherfucker!
'Climb climber', 1993, dir. R. Harlin
Two run, two catch up. Almost like E. Ryazanov in 'Beware of the car'. Only there and then - one runs away, the other catches up. What happens? Who what? Caught? Intrigue is assured. A boy and his dad are in a car trying to escape two killers. Doubly interesting.
The theme of confrontation between good and evil is one of the favorite in American cinema. All genres without exception are guilty of this weakness. In most paintings, the finale is already predetermined initially. Yeah, bad, usually more quirky. It is resourceful, merciless, mowing like death obliquely standing in its way. Can, if necessary, and the main character ears kick, kick to hang, stuff teeth or at the worst end - the back of the head. And good, as a rule, slow and long harness (just like many Russians, according to the saying). But inflamed, having entered into the taste, such slaps in turn can weigh the offender, which is simply ' Mom does not grieve' Right?
Looking at 'Those who wish me dead' with 45-year-old prima Angelina Jolie unwittingly resurrected in memory the tape ' Climb climber' with Sylvester Stallone. By the way, at 47, he was doing the eccentricities of a mountain ranger. As you can see, ' Stars ' to old age fall into sentimentality and save, save, save. That's their old man game in Hollywood. Well, of course, they expose themselves in all their glory in front of the camera - look, they say, not rusted yet, the wrinkle moss is not covered, the fat belt is within normal limits. And having convinced us of their viability, from the first to the last frame they repeat the traditional scheme - evil exposed itself (cooked someone, stole money, and so on). Good woke up, my eyes rubbed, my mouth gawped and slowly rushed on the way to look for. Oh, where are you? Oh, come on! Until the middle of the picture usually ' friend friend ' search, then compete. Who what? You? Or me? The final is known.
Like Stallone's character, Jolie wriggles with a soul injury. She has no peace. From the 93-year-old hero, a man fell into the abyss - and he wobbles, this poor thing - people burned before his eyes. Shock. Where's the cure? Where are the painkillers? How do you calm yourself? Life offers a chance. Then, ' money thieves' had to be nailed in the mountains, where there is not a shred of around for many miles, now two killers to warn, following the trail of a fugitive target. The forest is here, and there were mountains. Avalanches replaced by fires... Honestly, it's funny from these hacks 'American Dream'. Funny! Pure plagiarism. 'Skololaz' - The spine on the twist! Maybe it's just a similarity. Identity? An accident? Maybe. Revised script.
And novelty? Is it really a repeat without a twist? Raisins, you say? Why is that? Yes, there is a highlight. Then ' healthy' men ruled the ball. Muscles, muscles. Stallone, after all ' on the front line '. Now, two ladies are called upon to shorten the stranded paths. Well, I already talked about Jolie, but the second lady, that personality is generally heroic. The gestation period is six months, the abdomen is the hemisphere of the wall clock with combat (girl - ' tomorrow' cuckoo there). The killers showed her teeth - she in them from a winchester bah-bah, then a rifle with an optical sight to the chest, Rosinant or Bucephalus was raised and riding-up in a wild holope ... These are the African-American Amazons. They're not afraid. It's okay. Comfortable. About the pregnancy director for a while and forgot. So do we, let's forget. Especially since everything cost, where you need to jump, arrows ' from the bow ' fired, on the ladder on ' top of the building ' floor so at three, climbed in the moment... A heroic aunt!
This is a fairy tale-basin today came out in the American and world rentals. The forest is burning, evil is raging, the women of America are watching. Final? Do you want to guess?
What if, in the forests of Montana, two killers meet, a firefighter, a sheriff's deputy and a little boy who is being hunted. None of them know. But it happens in the picture 'Those who wish me dead'.
The story follows Connor, a ten-year-old boy whose father knew too much. And it came to those for whom information is higher than human life. Together, they go to those they can trust: a sheriff's deputy and his wife, teachers at the Survival School. But the boy's father will quickly be killed, and he will run where his eyes look. And on the way he will meet Hannah (Angelina Jolie), the rescuer of the parachute squad. Once she could not cope with the fire, because of this several people died. And she's long gone. ..
Taylor Sheridan is the man who has brought new and intriguing stories to the thriller genre. ': Those who wish me dead are one of them. This is a brilliantly written movie, in which there is no unnecessary scene. A movie where anything can happen. The villains here are very clever and cunning, believable. Therefore, any scene with them creates the strongest tension, which is required of a thriller. There's a wildfire raging around. Beautiful, unique. . .
'Those who wish me dead' is a wildfire, only on the big screen. A raging element in which events are unpredictable, flames can hurt anyone, even the brightest person in this forest mess. In my opinion, this is a perfect thriller and a real nugget, which I recommend absolutely everyone to watch.
