On a sunny day, I love listening to another day of sun. I didn’t feel sorry for them... Well, we met after many years, yeah. They had an affair of two creative natures, yes. . Maybe it was about the fact that in the name of success, they had to sacrifice the most valuable thing they had in the past. They had chemistry, but for some reason it didn’t seem like it was too hard to be together. Perhaps without even risking living a normal life, they would not be able to date for a long time. #129488
A deep story hiding under the mask of a light musical
At the first view, one gets the impression that this tape is undoubtedly a very bright, but simple story about an abstract dream, but if you try to look behind the spectacular facade and delve into the author’s idea, then the essence of the story is transformed beyond recognition.
Personally, when I first watched, I could not understand whether there is a main character here and if so, who? It seemed that either there are 2 of them, or if you choose - it is Mia, because the story seems to revolve around her.
However, when rewatching literally in the opening song, attention caught on for 2 moments:
The first is one of the singing girls literally retells the story of Mia, denoting everything that she seeks as a “luminous deception.”
The second – the name “La La Land” occurs immediately after the opening song, boldly hinting that all that will happen next – it’s all one big La Land.
From these two nuances and a whole bunch of small details that you start to pay attention to, if you understand where to look and delve into the meaning of the songs, it turns out that the only character who actively swims against the values of La La Landa and the only one who changes along the story is Sebastian.
If / when the awareness of this nuance comes, the perception of the tape is turned upside down.
Honestly, I did not understand, it was the author who conceived to disguise the true meaning, or Emma Stone so well realized her heroine that the focus of attention of the mass audience shifted from the main character, although indisputably very bright, but secondary image, which in fact is a typical representative of La Land, all changes in the life of which are a consequence of the active evolution of the protagonist.
As a result, while thinking about the indisputable visionary masterpiece, I was surprised to find the second bottom, which does not destroy first impressions, but gives deep meaning to what seemed to be a simple visual attraction.

P.S. Special thanks to the localizers, for not trying to translate the songs, and made a line translation. Be sure to include the credits, because the songs contain fundamental information for understanding the plot.
I decided to watch the film on the recommendation of someone I respect. Seeing the musical genre, I expected to hear stunning, beautiful songs, music that creeps to the chills, colorful scenes, after which it is already boring to look out the window ... However, I did not find all this... It's just not in La La Land. My disappointment cannot be described in words.
The movie is over, I just feel empty. I have nothing to say in these moments after the end of the movie, because the film did not cause any emotions other than negative ones, and those I pacified after 30 minutes of watching. I'm upset. I'm disappointed. I'm tired. I waited 2 hours for a miracle. 2 hours I was hoping. I listened for 2 hours. And in the end, all these two hours, I suffered hopelessly. Pain This is what this picture is about.
I don’t want to talk about the story, the plot of this film, because subconsciously I understand that the musical is not about this. I don’t want to write about the love story because I don’t believe in it. I can't talk about the actors, because they don't play something too extraordinary. Gosling and Stone play ordinary people with simple emotions.
I can only describe the few things that can really be criticized: music and songs. And they are... empty, unmemorable, worthless. I didn’t listen to the music in the Musical, but to some quiet attempt to play a few notes, and I didn’t see the songs as something to be a hit, but as something from the farthest and most unknown radio station. It is better to listen to the ambient and soundtracks of other films than songs and music from La La Land.
Don't watch this movie. If you are too interested in songs, listen to them separately on YouTube or in a music player. Don’t waste time watching this picture; if it wasn’t for the songs, I wouldn’t have anything to talk about, and it’s zero out of ten, you can score at least 1 point for music if you feel sorry. 2 hours stuffy; you want it?
After watching this film, you are overwhelmed with emotions, and songs from the film will play in your head for a couple of days.
What is it? Two career enthusiasts trying to fulfill their dreams. Pianist Sebastian wants to open a jazz club, and aspiring actress Mia dreams of a big movie. Both face difficulties - the genre of jazz is not popular in modern society, and the acting of the girl does not impress big bosses. Despite this, the characters meet each other and help to find the strength to break out for the dream. The composition is also interesting, the story unfolds excerpts on the seasons. The brilliant story was written by the director himself - Damien Chazelle.
Who are these heroes? It is noteworthy that for the entire film almost all the action revolves around lovers - they were played by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Emma won the coveted Oscar, managed to play an emotional, sometimes hot-tempered, sometimes sad girl. Ryan received only a nomination, but in my opinion, this film represents his best role. Finally, a restrained, responsible and loving man broke out of the silent, frowning man. Two successful acting performances.
Where does the action take place? In the fictional town of La La Land. This city is viewed from two sides, from one – a bright and colorful place, a collective image of the American dream. On the other is a place where powerful conservatives break the dreams of young people. The image of the city traces nostalgia for the Hollywood of the eighties.
What about music? It's beautiful and magical here. By genre, this is a musical, so they sing here very often and in business - the songs reflect the inner state and thoughts of the characters. One track is a refrain at all - repeated at key moments of the film. The track ‘Another Day of Sun’ has flown into my playlist and often boosts my mood, while ‘City of Stars’ makes me dream about the future. I think the fact that there are Oscars for the best soundtrack and song will not surprise anyone.
By what methods is this effect achieved? There are several. In important moments of the film, when you need to focus on the characters, the light is completely focused on them, darkening the surrounding space. The production of dances and numbers is distinguished - high-quality choreography, accompanied by beautiful music and actions filled with meaning, give the necessary effect. Well, the camera work, thanks to which Linus Sanderen took the Oscar and made a name for himself.
It's a beautiful movie. I recommend it to everyone.
I watched this film, around which there was so much talk and such differences of opinion, I will say right away – I liked the film, I think, for about the same reason that I liked the film “The Artist” at one time. It was shot absolutely in compliance with all the laws of the genre, the actors coped well with their roles, their performance did not cause in me either resistance or a sense of awkwardness, which sometimes I have to feel when the performers leave the director’s conditionality (and the musical is a conditional genre) God knows where, and I did not interfere with the circumstances that they sing not as professional singers, but dance not as ballet soloists, they did it well, and the music is pleasant. The plot is also quite interesting for the work of this genre, you do not often find this - both achieve the fulfillment of their dreams, each contributed to the fulfillment of the dream of the other, you can say, pushed to action, but for this they had to part, because neither of them wanted the other to sacrifice themselves for him, so I do not understand those critics who accuse them of selfishness, there is altruism of the purest water. There is no usual happy ending in such cases, when the main characters should merge in arms, he is happy, but in a different way. Interesting and showing a possible alternative development of the plot, flashed before our eyes. I admit that not everyone will share my point of view on this film, there are always various factors that come into play - and the difference in tastes, and indifference to this genre, and the mood, and dislike of the actors, but I know that there are those who will agree with me.
How terrible life is! Especially in our time. Especially the creators. Especially filmmakers. Still, not everyone comes into the profession with the firm intention of becoming a strong artisan and earning bread and butter, disciplined fulfilling the wishes of producers and investors, without worrying about their own world and their own style. But where to get your own voice, when everything is already disassembled. If for more than a century of film history, everything is invented, filmed, created. About a quarter of a century ago, the last loophole opened - the postmodern fixation of someone created images, collisions, styles, worlds. Now that wicket is slammed. The words “homage” and “cameo” lost their magical significance and fell into the category of “non-comilfo.” Meanwhile, the desire to make a film without regard to the budget and the box office, to shoot with childish simplicity, forgetting about everything seen so far, to open the cinema again, becomes increasingly unbearable. It seems that the art of cinema is in prenatal fever and is about to produce something hitherto unprecedented. “La La Land” is another attempt to break through to a new light of the new cinema.
Excuse me, what can be new in a film that is full of quotes and allusions to the end? The love of a novice actress and musician against the background of the main dream factory of the planet Earth-Hollywood-the plot, which has in the past even hundreds or thousands of connotations. From the first shots in the forehead of the viewer flies hello either from “Saturday Night Fever”, or from “Griolin”. In the room of the main character in the whole wall poster with Ingrid Bergman. Costumes, melodies, dances refer to the “Umbrellas of Cherbourg”, then to Gene Kelly, then to the duo Rogers-Astaire. Every scene, every scene, looks like something. “La La Land” is similar to all musicals at once, starting with the pioneering “Jazz Singer” and ending with the recent “Across the Universe”. And this universal similarity gives it its originality. The key to it, as befits a musical, lies in the musical sphere. Director Damien Chazelle, in contrast to the obsessive hits of fashion directorial techniques, managed to create his own melody. It doesn't hit your ears, it doesn't claim to be number 1 on the charts, it won't bother you, it won't bother you, it won't bother you, it'll spin in your head for hours. It's just there. The melody of directing is superficially simple, simple, childish, naive, but sincere. Chazelle managed to walk along a tightrope, where on the one hand he was waiting for the abyss of affection by all canonical samples of the genre, and on the other, the abyss of postmodern games with textbook musicals. He is not on his knees before his predecessors, but he is not obsessed with what they created.
The highest quality of directing, when its techniques are difficult to verbal analysis. As befits a true master (although the director is just a beginner), Chazelle works not in the field of logic, but in the category of feelings. I found the key to his method in my own memory of deep childhood. In the second grade, my roommate, Tata Sheveleva, began an epochal work: she sat down to write the novel “The Life of Lenin” (the year was 1972 in the yard, so no figs in her pocket were supposed). Asked by the teacher where the eight-year-old writer will collect material for her epic, Tata proudly replied: But everyone writes about Lenin the same thing. And I will write about it in my own way.” This is the key to the movie La La Land. Chazelle reacted to the world's film heritage, as children relate (By the way, he has the right - he is only 31 years old). It's really a kid in film scores. References to the classics in his picture are not quotes, not plagiarism, not a reason for rebukes with the viewer. In La La Land, Chazelle moved the entire layer of archival film material from the category created to the realm inherent. In other words, all the best films, melodies, actors, images of the past are devoid of authorship and work. They became like sunlight and moonlight, surf, the breath of wind - always existed.
To say that the attempt was successful in everything would be a lie. Here and there flashes greetings from the evil postmodern (acting samples of Mia, where all the clichés of mass-serial cinema are quite cruelly ridiculed), the quote will become too bold. Industry is an industry, its laws and its rules of good manners do not allow even the most talented creators to fall into childhood. But, closer to the final, the children’s immediate joy from life, colors and melodies will bring Chazelle a real win. The two-minute episode, in which the whole story to the music develops in an alternative version and comes to a completely different ending, I do not remember analogues. This montage-musical story is like a sprout of something unknown, grown on a rich cultivated soil. And this is another attempt to produce something fundamentally new.
“La La Land” has successfully proved that now the artistic virginity of the director can be restored. Innocence has not yet succeeded. But with every successful attempt, the return to Innocence becomes more real.
Damien Chazelle is a failed jazz musician who got into movies and began making films about Hollywood and jazz. And it is in La La Land that he reveals jazz to its fullest and tells us why he loved it, albeit in one scene, but how well he was able to convey his love of jazz improvisation through Gosling.
The cheerful and refreshing "Another day of sun," the cheerful "Someone in the crowd," the gentle and loving "A lovely night," and the sad and yearning "City of stars." With all these compositions, Chazelle opens up such different jazz for us. And the beautiful vocals of Emma Stone and Rayne Gosling complement them and make them impeccably beautiful.
The camera work of Linus Sandgren together with the artist director David Wasco gives an unforgettable picture that can be watched and enjoyed for a very long time. And if you watch Linus Sandgren at work, you can see how incredibly he works with the camera.
And in the end, this is a good and beautiful film about love, which shows us that sometimes love can stand above our dreams.

While searching for movies with Rayne Gosling, he found himself eating a co-starring film by Gosling and the charming, beautiful Emma Stone. Without thinking twice, I went to see this masterpiece.
First and foremost, La La Land is a musical. Well, it turns out I'm not a fan of that kindness. The scenes are beautiful, but I didn’t really like them. Sometimes such dances to soothing, real music forced me to look, and how much remained until the end of the film.
The story. He's beautiful. Yes, the plot is really touching and really great. We are presented with two, let’s be honest, losers, each of whom pursues a goal, a dream. Ironically, the main characters become like Yin and Yang. They complement each other, support and motivate. They will fulfill all their wishes, but unfortunately for me, as it turned out, their relationship is only a partnership, they were comfortable at that time to be together. And I was moved by the ending, I expected that happy End, but got an interesting and unusual plot unfolding. I wasn't expecting it.
The film is cool, very romantic and touching. It is full of beautiful songs and dances. The film can be very useful for those who also strive for some of their dreams and goals. It can motivate the viewer, and most importantly, it's a thought, as I've singled out for myself: Never give up.
A quality and unique film. The genre of the musical in the cinema is rare, so it was very interesting to see this picture. It is recommended, by the way, to watch with Russian subtitles, because the lyrics are directly related to the plot of the film.
Let's start with the music - the basis of this work. I really liked it: there is jazz, and just playing the piano, and pop, and even rock. A mixture of everything that ultimately combines depending on the events in the film. But in any case, TA 'Hollywood' atmosphere is preserved.
The picture is also at the highest level, the director is good. Not only that throughout the film we are pleased with beautiful angles, but also in some scenes you catch aesthetic ecstasy. Separately, I want to note the dancing, staging scenes, lighting and other colossal work of the film crew.
The plot seems simple and easy, but something distinguishes this film from ordinary melodramas. And it's the same atmosphere, the little things in the way of simple dialogue, the message and the ending that gives food for thought.
So I definitely liked the movie. I will review it in the future. But I didn’t see it as something breakthrough, something special that makes it a masterpiece, despite all the advantages of the film that I described above. This is a good movie, I recommend it.
When my favorite movie suddenly became a musical, it would be a crime not to see La La Land.
The plot is entirely focused on the relationship of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, the rest of the characters here only occasionally flash. There are no breakaways here, the love conflict between Sebastian and Mia arises on its own because the two are not meant to be together. They are both passionate about art and incredibly ambitious, and having that in common pushes them apart. Despite the fact that the characters sincerely love each other, they will have to choose between their dream career and their personal lives. It is impossible for both to succeed.
In addition to the excellent plot, taking its realism, the film at the highest level implemented all technical disciplines. Including a nice picture and excellent dance numbers with the famous movement at 34:19. The songs didn’t really have a wow effect on me, but it’s a matter of taste. This is not always the case, but you have to pay for your dreams.
First of all, I would like to note the amazing color and interesting work of the operator. It was because of them that I gave such a high rating.
But in general, the film seemed to me terribly overrated.
80% of screen time we see an incredibly boring savoring of the candy and bouquet period of the characters, which seems even more prolonged due to the endless songs and dances (and no, I love musicals ... but for some reason all these musical numbers looked artificially inserted). Songs and dances were not bad. Towards the end of the film, a quarrel breaks out between the characters, and this was perhaps the only moment when I wondered how the whole story would end. And then, after the fight and a couple more scenes, bam! - The end and the final credits. Moreover, the fact that the film is logically moving towards the end, did not indicate anything at all. On the contrary, there was a feeling that the film had just begun to accelerate. And that's it, 'there will be no cinema, the electricity is out'
Another disadvantage is the main character. Already in the first 15 minutes of the film, I realized that I actively do not like her: vindictive, touchy, likes to troll, lurks in his work duties in a cafe, disdainful of others (just remember the scene in traffic). And unlike Sebastian, who plays everything from jazz to Take on me on his piano, Mia is terribly limited in her role: if the role is written purely for her, she will cope, if it is just a role, then she will not pull - even if something episodic. So it's kind of weird that the writer paired them up. The pair usually become equal partners, and Mia and Sebastian are not equal. As someone before me aptly noted: ' The screenwriter gave us the Prince, but forgot the Princess'. What is a romantic movie without a princess?
The main characters constantly repeat how poor they are, but at the same time they have money for personal cars and decent rental housing. She is a waitress and he is unemployed. How, Carl?
An unforgettable magical musical film about ambition, dreams, love and Hollywood.
It’s easy to fall in love with this movie, even if you’re not a musical lover. The feelings of this film are like a glass of good champagne, from which both pleasant and feel a slight longing for the gone, missed or simply released.
In Los Angeles, many young people strive to fulfill their dreams: someone dreams of becoming an actor, someone a famous musician. Los Angeles is a city of angels fulfilling the dreams of talented and ambitious people. The eternal summer center of Hollywood lush and film industry, the most famous city of California. This city is home to many television shows, record companies and popular artists.
The characters of the film, Sebastian and Mia, come to the city each with their own purpose. Sebastian, who loves jazz, dreams of opening a jazz club. Mia dreams of becoming an actress, creating plays since childhood. Both young men are ambitious, dreamy and brave. Their fates overlap several times and eventually they fall in love. They are a wonderful couple, value each other, respect and most importantly support each other’s dreams, believe in their soul mate and motivate. Next to each other, they grow, develop, go forward, without letting go of their partner’s hands. But difficulties on the way to their dreams sometimes force you to make a choice, young people sometimes do not stand up. Mia and Sebastian, like music and cinema, woven together in this picture, so perfect, colorful, complementing each other.
Director Damien Chazelle showed a seemingly simple love story, a dream story, but he made it exquisitely, beautifully, a film, like a separate art form, paying homage to the golden time of Hollywood musicals. Charming picture, subtle, sensual, emotional, juicy. Nostalgia, accompanied by brilliant music, energetic dances, incomparable shots with beautiful colors and light.
The painting is common, whole, honest.
Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are matchless, lively, conscious, talented. Emma won an Oscar for this role. Ryan is not, he was also nominated, and his performance in this film is beautiful.
This is the film, after which the soul is warm and calm, this is the picture, after which goosebumps and you want to feel silence around, only so that the beautiful melody City of Stars continues to play inside.

Quiet glances, loud thoughts and conversations, closed mouths.
La La Land is a musical film that is not for everyone, but at the expense of its ending becomes more emotionally difficult, and the aftertaste of the film is not as depressing as it would be if La La Land had an end somewhere in the middle. I love this movie a lot because of the ending and now you’ll find out why.
I don’t like funny melodramas or banal romance too much. Which is why my favorite film in the genre ' Romantics' is 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind'. The first half of the film is a banal romance about two lovers with a well-staged musical. The second is the end of the relationship due to creative differences and their subsequent fate with a very unexpected, but such a sweet meeting. As mentioned, the first half of the film is a melodrama, which is why I wanted to turn the film off somewhere in the middle, but still decided to watch it for good reason. The final dance scene between Sebastian and Mia is simply delightful: the scenery, the dance itself, the song and their relationship are all at an incredible height of quality. The final scene of the film is the look of Sebastian and Mia. She's amazing. Proud of each other and at the same time quiet glances that wrangle tears. And #39;Eyes never lie...' They talk loudly with their eyes and mouths closed. Milliseconds are hours and seconds are days. That's what love is.
In the film, there is an important question: what is more important: career or love? Can one be in symbiosis with the other? Can two creative people coexist in harmony? The picture does not give clear answers, but there is no correct answer in these questions. Everyone is different and thinks in their own way. Someone can lead, and someone not. This is reality and it is hard to argue with.
I would like to notice Paris in the final scene of the dances - it is made in the style of impressionism, and I, as a fan of impressionism, it is very pleasant and unexpected.
Although the film takes place in our time, but for me personally, the film is made in the form of 70-80-ies of America. The atmosphere of that time is clearly tracked in the film: the old convertible and the relatively old fascination of the main character and much more.
La La Land is a film for lovers of old music and cinema. Full of love and ultimate sadness.
This super-popular musical tells the vivid romantic story of two people in love with each other, passionately wanting to achieve individual success in their professions.
Young by the standards of directorial craft, the director of the tape Damien Shazzel incredibly colorful, vivid and musically portrayed impetuous heroes, struggling to reach the heights in the city of Angels, where everyone for himself and rely only on his own strength. And Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone perfectly embodied on the screen these very stars, brightly illuminating the boundless sky of the tireless city, always waiting for another starfall.
The musical numbers of the film are incomparable. Paying homage to the best representatives of the dance film genre of the last century (' Singing in the Rain', ' Cilinder', ' Girls from Rochefort'), they draw extremely memorable melodic scenes, and songs such as 'City of Stars' performed by the main characters of this musical and 'Start a Fire', performed by a stunning modern soul singer John Legend, who played a small role in the background here, can be considered to be a real hit. So the main genre element ' La La Landa' is at the highest level, forming from the film, perhaps, the best musical of the second decade of the XXI century.
Thus, this picturesque and juicy musical melodrama illustrates the brilliant sweet-bitter story of two halves of the same whole, who, although they will manage to realize their dreams, are destined to push the most important thing to the background. That which moved their hearts and awakened in them the desire to move forward. Something that could allow them to achieve even greater professional success. What in any language of the world means truth, joy and happiness. . .
At least some pluses from the re-release, I finally saw this masterpiece, so also in the original with subtitles (which I recommend to you, if you have not yet seen). It is sad that the film, in addition to its idea and its embodiment, became famous for a rather offensive incident on the Oscars & #39. At the 2017 ceremony at the announcement ' Best Picture' mistakenly named "La La Land", although the winner that year was "Moonlight".
La La Land is the nickname of Los Angeles, where the events take place, but it is also an English expression that means “a departure from reality into the land of dreams and fantasies.” I want to say in advance, although it seems that the film is about love, everything is not so simple, the main idea is a little deeper. The tape focuses on the desire for a dream, but does not forget about the difficulties encountered on the way to its achievement. We see the whole path of the main characters, their meeting, falling in love, and the final choice between a dream and a life together. . .
Not to mention the chic acting of the main characters would be like a crime. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are amazing, they did 120%. Between their characters feel chemistry, they want to empathize and want to rejoice. For the film, the actors took ballroom dancing and step lessons, and Gosling learned to play the piano, although usually the actors just do "#39; kind of game" & #39; instruments, and on close-ups they are replaced by professionals. John Legend, who plays a friend of the main character, also learned to play the guitar.
The film is simply chic, perfectly selected color scheme completely immerses you in this beautiful atmosphere. There are a lot of cool musical numbers, which are not only very organically woven into the plot, so they are also mostly shot in one frame. The songs will definitely not leave you indifferent, which is worth one 'Another Day Of Sun' setting the tone for the whole next picture, or 'City Of Stars' performed by Ryan Gosling, which, together with the camera work, will not leave you without emotions.
Ultimately, La La Land is one of the best movies I’ve seen. Incredibly sensual storytelling with beautiful songs and musical themes, beautiful camera work and production can create a really chic film with the main idea, from which unforgettable impressions remain for a very long time.
In the center of the picture is the love story of pianist Sebastian and aspiring actress Mia. It was a typical and rather stereotypical first meeting. But further events will capture more than any dull melodrama.
La La Land is not a melodrama. This is a musical story in which the two fates of Seb and Mia are intertwined. Anyone can call it what they want—the story can feel like drama and comedy. Yes, at least fantastic, although there is no time machine, robots and time travel. It is worth mentioning the story separately.
A unique feature of the film is that the story of the film is universal in space and time. La La Land could have shot the same Leonid Kvinikhidze in the 1970s and it would have looked chic. The film is like an alien from the golden age of cinema. “Singing in the Rain” looks like it was shot yesterday.
The story of Seb and Mia is not new. It is very strange to read the claims of critics in the spirit of “just met and love to the grave.” Yeah, Chazelle used the old trick, but damn it, it works. Even in such a hackneyed success story. Still read what to say, the moment of the emergence of feelings allegedly remained behind the scenes. Nothing like that! They met here and now and this story is expressed by music. So would our grandparents, fathers and mothers. Love binds us wherever it finds us.
The film is not just beautiful on the outside. Many, seeing the beautiful facade, for some reason did not see the inner beauty. The same beauty that many uneducated people do not catch. Many people have forgotten that music doesn’t just fill the gaps between the dialogues in the film. She's telling her story. Read the translation of the songs, or if you are good at English, try to understand what the characters say in their songs. Do they need other words to express what they feel? It's a musical, guys! It's the music of words! It's like a sound picture.
It is naive to judge the film only by the trailer and by the hasty reviews of short-sighted critics, who recorded the film in the category of “over-praised, empty, over-the-top”. Yes, the idea of the film is not new, but there are some missing storylines. But as I said, the film speaks to us in the language of film and music. There are modern films without a single word, where the acting will say better than any words. There is no noticeable superiority of music as in some very cruel musicals, with endless songs and dances a la Bollywood. The music is moderately represented. Play and music are in perfect balance.
While watching, I remembered the imperishable classic from the c/f “Pig and Shepherd”:
. We were surrounded by a cheerful crowd.
He said simple words,
He introduced us, made friends.
On this joyful evening, Moscow.
As you can guess from the title – this is a film about the city of Los Angeles (LA), about the land of Los Angeles. Meetings and breakups. Love and friendship. How little people need to be happy. Watch a good movie!
Like such films in Hollywood pond: about a guy and a girl who dream, love, make plans, quarrel and reconcile, and life prepares them more and more surprises. But what makes this film so special? Actors play. They don't play, they live. For me, those two hours in the cinema went unnoticed. Beautiful, easily memorable songs, warm atmosphere of something familiar, the most beautiful tandem of Emma Watson and Ryan Gosling - all this is so captivating and literally addictive with the head that the film looks in one breath.
The picture is shot in the best traditions of Hollywood musicals, even the camera is selected appropriate to make the viewer more comfortable. It seems to be a story about modern people in the modern world, but for some reason I was sometimes carried away fifty years ago, some nostalgia floated in some moments, especially during the dances of the main characters. You can see how much work Gosling and Stone have done to fully immerse themselves in images. Learning to dance, playing the piano - all this only sounds simple, in fact it is hard and painstaking work. But they did their best. Seven awards ' Golden Globe ' - this is a sign of quality. And I agree with the director's words - they really look like a classic Hollywood couple.
I feel pretty positive about musicals. And for good musicals, even more so. The film itself is made as if the audience is sitting in the theater and watching the performance on stage, not on the screen. The story of Mia’s girlfriend and Sebastian’s boyfriend takes place as it were in our time, but at the same time it seems that this story is from the era of “Singing in the Rain” & #39; and “My Fair Lady” & #39;. This is a story about two people in love with each other and their dreams. But something is constantly preventing them from making it happen. They support each other by giving a magic pendel so they can both get what they want. But dreams are just a fantasy, in fact, life decides everything - the most cruel and unjust reality. It will make you prioritize and understand what is more important to you. Everyone is free to make their own choices, but will you be happy with them later? Are you sure you don’t want to go back and do it all over again?
I really liked the words from Mia's song:
It would be a gray ball of the earth.
Without those living the dream
I remember seeing the movie about a year ago. And I remember this film very bright and sad at the same time. As for the positive emotions in the film. I have a lot of them, such as scenery, music, plot, characters and most importantly, meaning or a thoughtful script. All in order.
Decoration and installation: they look very stylish and convey the overall atmosphere well. In some places, especially the rear boards look usually and do not particularly impress with their originality, but they have their own zest, which the film conveys all its usual beauty of the world in art. The foreground plans are very bright and juicy, this definitely gives a plus to the picture. What about the lights? It is pleasant enough for the eyes and fabulous in its kind. In dark scenes, the lightcor also looks cool and does not scare the viewer with gloomyness, but only conveys a good tone for melodrama. And I like the director's decision to do some scenes that are longer than a minute. This is not a new idea in the film industry.
Music: Everything in the movie is just beautiful with that. It conveys well sadness, joy and fabulousness. It's a pity the music doesn't really catch on because I only remember two good soundtracks. Thanks for the movie.
Plot and Characters: I will not write about the story itself (because spoiler is not good), I will only say that in the film I saw that true love is more important than a career, but without a career, a person will not be happy on the outside. Sebastian and Mia, who dream of having a good career, but despite the fact that his career is the main meaning he needs for happiness, it’s all half the wrong thing. And what did Ryan Gosling's character choose? You won't be indifferent. The main actor himself played well and very charismatic. Many may call him not the most talented actor. But he played great for me! Emma Stone was also very charismatic in this film. Her character turned out to be pretty cute. The actress herself, in my opinion, was able to convey all the necessary emotions in the film. J.K. Simmons played a very short, secondary role, well, that seemed to me personally. I expected to see him there for more movie time. Because the actor is great in different movies.
Meaning of the film: Each person will find meaning in it, because the film is universal and understandable for people of different ages. From young people to the elderly. The meaning I saw in this film I described from above. When I talked about the plot (I hope without spoilers) in my review.
Cons: For some people, the film may seem boring. Because of the long scenes and the typical dialogue between the characters. For some, the ending is not perfect for a Hollywood movie. But for me, the ending is perfect and it is better not to come up with a melodrama.

When tired of an unloved job, stood for several hours in a stuffy traffic jam, returned home and turned on the film in a soft bed - this is La La Land. The title of this film is a stable expression, meaning a country of dreams and dreams, full of colors, music and love.
From the first frame, the film declares the skill of the director, operator and composer. "La La Land" opens with a scene in traffic under the bright sun of Los Angeles. However, as befits a musical, one bored hero begins to sing - and now dozens are singing. Characters climb onto the roofs of the car and dance, musicians jump out of the truck and pick up the melody. There are so many involved that the scale is mind-blowing. And all of this, of course, was shot in one frame.
The director of the film, Damien Chazelle, as we know, is crazy about music. As in his first film, Obsession, the story is driven by a musical component. There's not much dialogue in the movie, so why talk about when you can sing and play? Mia notices Seb playing in a restaurant and at a party, so they meet. Their communication is based on mutual undermining. Stephen Fry once said, “She is not flirting, but she is not flirting.” The love tension between the characters is felt through acting. And even through rude jokes, the viewer notices the sympathy of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Both actors are amazingly coping with their task - a huge experience in comedies makes itself felt. The audience is happy and happy for the heroes. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are not professional vocalists, Emma's voice creaks and trembles, she barely pronounces words. Gosling sings quite vilely. But this concept was laid by the director, because it is important to convey to the viewer that for all the American luxury, live people are shown in front of the viewer, and they are not ideal.
A date in the cinema, in the observatory, in the jazz club - all accompanied by pleasant music and songs. They are built so that the film can distinguish two main themes, two leitmotifs. "City of Star" and "Mia and Sebastian's Theme" These tunes accompany us throughout the film, but all the time sound different. When the characters are in decline - the melodies are quiet, with few instruments; in joyful moments, the songs sound very different - a loud orchestra is connected and the atmosphere completely changes. Composers often use this technique: John Williams in Harry Potter or Alexander Desplat in The Grand Budapest Hotel. The composer of “La La Landa” Justin Garvitz exceeded all expectations and came up with something new: at the end of the film plays “Epilogue”, which includes all the compositions sounding in the film, this track lasts more than 7 minutes, and on the screen at this fast moment the life of the characters is squandered. In this way, music takes us through a long period of time and emphasizes how quickly the lives of the characters change.
The visual solution of the film is worthy of the highest awards. The teamwork of the director, director and director of the editing led to the fact that the film looks in one breath. The film's cameraman Linus Sandgren insisted on the decision to take shots of a few minutes long, when shooting dances it requires special effort. The camera is often hung on a crane, it flies around all locations, plunges into the water and again takes off over the heroes. The well-coordinated work of choreographers makes itself felt. Hundreds of dancers have no right to make mistakes. It is important to preserve the magic of the film. The frame often involves glossy surfaces and mirrors, which should reflect only what you need to see the viewer – here everything is done with Hollywood precision. The scenes look like a single whole, in addition, the transitions between episodes are also sometimes made with the help of hidden glues - thus the editing becomes even smoother. In musicals, very general plans are often used, where the surrounding world of heroes is vividly shown with a huge perspective, referring the couple in love to future discoveries. Los Angeles "La La Landa" is shown just such a city of stars, where dreams come true. “Vidochka so-so”, “Yes, I’ve seen better” are joked by the heroes, watching the infinitely beautiful landscape from a high point above the city.
The cameraman masterfully works with the lighting team: the cut-off drawings in each scene are striking and inspiring. The lighting changes with each new thought of the characters right during the recording. Everything can go out and only a single spotlight will remain, highlighting one hero. Or maybe light up with colorful colors, throwing characters to new emotional levels. Do not forget about the one-frame shooting style, which makes working with many light sources as difficult and accessible only to Hollywood masters. Bravo!
The color of the film is a separate character accompanying Mia and Seb in many scenes. Often we can see colored lighting: green, blue, red. However, these colors do not correspond to the usual interpretations, such as green - youth, blue - cold, red - passion. The shades in the film are more intense, but dark, turning green into drama, red into anxiety, blue into faith and hope. Each color is accompanied by a complementary (opposite on the color palette), creating classic Hollywood schemes as "teal and orange" (blue-orange) or pink-blue.
The basis of the dance was the good old steppe, the characters do not hesitate to change their shoes right in the frame and start dancing. The choreography refers the viewer to similar classical musicals, and the scene where Gosling spins on a lamppost and quotes “Singing in the Rain” in 1952, while the atmosphere of these films is almost the same. Fans of the classics may not approve of such copying, but it is important for the director to show the contribution of American musicals to his film and himself.
You can forget that the central line is jazz. Although he is given quite a lot of screen time. The character of Gosling speaks about great jazzmen, devotes to jazz theory, but all his knowledge does not go beyond Wikipedia. The theme of jazz is quite childish and is built only on the enumeration of facts. Therefore, for the professional development of Seb, advanced viewers will be quite boring to watch.

The musical genre is specific and vaudeville, this genre must be loved to get maximum pleasure. And yet the musical genre is at sunset. Chazel in his films is trying to revive the genre, and he succeeds. At least La La Land, while retaining its vaudeville and romance, also touches on more serious topics, from which the production begins to shine with new faces.
Chazel pays homage to the classics, but also brings modernity and relevance to the production. The plot is a new variation of the dream chase, with a strong romantic line. The songs in the film are diluted with stunning choreography, which is mostly shot with long plans.
From all this, the film is not boring to watch, the director constantly tries to surprise and impress the viewer, and can even prove that musicals still have the right to life, and not as a traditional vaudeville, but as a serious film that touches on topical issues. From this, La La Land becomes a sentimental and at the same time true story, despite all the fantastic colors and techniques of staging.
Aesthetics of landscapes of the capital of American cinema
After reading an impressive number of negative reviews on the site, I decided to do my bit of justice and explain why, from my point of view, this film is at least worthy of your viewing.
To begin with, yes, the plot is really banal and we’ve all seen millions of similar musical pictures with the same outcome. But who evaluates the musical based on the plot twists? Isn’t the science of beauty the key to making a good movie of this genre? I’m sure few people will deny the beauty and romance of the sunsets of Mount Hollywood Drive, shown in the film, along with the dance of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
The picture paints us all the obstacles that arise on the way to the actors’ own dreams. The theme of relationships here plays a key role, the characters push each other to make the right decisions, love fades into the background. The name of the jazz club proposed by Mia is proof of this, because in the end it turns out to be commercially profitable. In turn, Sebastian pushes the heroine to take part in the next casting, despite her exhaustion and unwillingness to appear there. Based on the conservative considerations of the main character, which affect his main craft - jazz music, the hero does not want to accept the "new jazz", adapted to modernity. Here the problem of degradation and modernization of the genre already arises.
The finale of the film I still consider the most successful, because both creators come to what they wanted and wanted most – to succeed in the affairs of their entire narrative. Their relationship is only a way to push for the right outcomes.
This movie just blew the public up in a good way. How many awards and rave reviews! But I confess, unfortunately, this film for me looks flat and not penetrating enough.
The film is so academic, correct, well-directed: everything in it is measured, everything happens at the right moment, unfolds sequentially. This is a plus, but it is a minus in this case. And in this particular example, a catastrophic minus. There is no freshness or revolution.
I don’t want to criticize the film. Overall, I have always been loyal and positive. I like the picture of the film itself, it is beautifully shot, good songs, music, wonderful acting.
However, again, too catching the eye is the worn-out idea of a dream, of the love of two people who have not yet been realized, their growing up, obstacles. I never left the thought after watching the picture that the love line at the end seems to look foreign, as if the characters were in their incomprehensible dream and this future does not really happen to them. It was as if the directors suddenly had a dramatic line to add depth.
At first, I thought I was embarrassed by this, so after seeing the picture, I didn’t get a pleasant aftertaste. But then I presented an alternative scenario. And I eventually realized that it wouldn't change anything. It doesn’t matter if the characters stayed together or broke up – it would absolutely not affect my impression.
I could not help but mention the love line, but it is not the main one in the film. Please do not fall for these childish and clichéd images of dreamers, they do not teach anything and are unlikely to surprise and inspire anyone.
I may have overestimated expectations for this movie. Somewhere in the middle I started to lose interest in the painting.
Look better beautiful with the same essentially idea of the cartoon “Cats Don’t Dance” in 1997, where there is beautiful animation, excellent music, live characters, instead of cardboard images. It's the same story, but it's much more talented, even though it's a cartoon for kids. And there were other worthy examples of similar stories in reviews.
And, of course, the film is not bad (yes, not a very high rating), but it does not have some highlight, there is no fresh presentation, there is no reason in the end for such a high rating of the public.
On the way to a dream, there is nothing to stop at!
This thesis is adhered to by both the main characters of the film, who live in multimillion-dollar Los Angeles and by the will of fate accidentally meet in a traffic jam, after which they repeatedly encounter each other.
The main idea. Both characters illustrate typical people who are at the beginning of their dream journey: Mia works in a cafe as a waitress, but dreams of becoming an actress like her aunt and goes to auditions, where she is constantly denied; Sebastian is fond of unpopular jazz, is going to open his jazz club, but works as a musician in a restaurant where jazz is not interesting to anyone.
Initially, they doubt that their chance encounters are fate, but when they encounter each other again, they decide to tell each other about their dreams and fall in love. It is in this, in my opinion, manifests the main test, which in life face almost any dreamers who seek to realize their desires – is it worth it to postpone the dream, actually saying goodbye to it, just to be with each other, even if for this you have to do in life what you do not like? The main characters of the film have to answer this question.
The conclusion here can be one: you can become truly happy only when you fulfill what you dream of all your life. At the same time, you need not be afraid to give up what is stopping you on this path, even if it is very difficult.
Most likely, the main characters fell in love precisely because both recognized in each other themselves, their personal life problems. Therefore, they help each other first, but in the future they face the inevitable choice: a relationship or a dream. Each of them knows that they will not be able to do it at the same time.
Therefore, for the main characters, the conclusion is somewhat tragic: if they are together, the dream of at least one of them will never be realized. But that is why the film is also very realistic, because in the life of almost any dreamer everything is not perfect: often you have to face such a choice, while the obstacle to a dream can be anything, not only relationships. But it is this example that the authors want to show that on this path you should not stop at anything, even before the highest feelings.
Music. Special in the film I would like to note the musical accompaniment: remember not only the main soundtrack “City of Stars”, but also many other melodies that you want to listen repeatedly.
The film is recommended for viewing to all dreamers.
Music numbers and music. Because the film is a musical, it is full of great soundtrack and music. The musical numbers are simply stunning: all the actors sing and dance themselves, most of the numbers are shot in one single take (in one scene, the operator even dived into the water to shoot the shot). And chicly filmed numbers complement the amazing musical design. All songs fascinate and goosebump, and the main song 'City of stars' does not touch only the emotionless log.
The atmosphere. The tape desperately tries to convey the spirit of old musicals, while remaining in modernity. And she does. In this hand play and vintage jazz compositions, which reodicically sound in the picture.
Acting jobs. Neither the atmosphere nor the music would work without the actors. The main roles here are performed by some of the best actors of our time Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Both played the best roles in their careers. Gosling in this film is gorgeous, he is one scene, one look can convey such a storm of emotions that not all actors in one film can give. By the way, Ryan in the film himself performs all his parts on the piano. Well, Emma Stone, there are no words. She's just incredible here, in every scene of this movie, she shows amazing performance. It makes no sense to describe her game - it is necessary to see.
Everything that's been named, all these pieces, all these gears, is running La La Land's car so cool that you want to watch it over and over again. The film touches the finest strings of the soul and causes a storm of various emotions. Someone this tape can repel what is a musical. But don't be afraid. The film has enough songs and dialogue.
'La La Land' - the sensational American film by the young director Damien Chazelle literally split the audience into two camps: some admire his genius, others are outraged by the mediocre imitation of Hollywood 30-40-ies of the last century. However, one thing is for sure, the elegant and touching story left few indifferent.
For me 'La La Land' - a magical movie about finding yourself, dreams that are broken overnight and resurrected again, reality, the complexity of media life and the formation of personality in this life.
At the heart of the plot is actually a very trivial love story of two quite mature and established, but very unfortunate units. She (Mia as Emma Stone) is a young aspiring actress who, in between working in a cafeteria at a film studio, tries out various mediocre series. He (Sebastian as Ryan Gosling) is an ambitious pianist who performs traditional Christmas songs in a restaurant and dreams of a big jazz career. Their meeting was dictated by someone from above. The screen unfolds a beautiful chronicle of feelings, the result of which is extremely organic and predictable. People meet in order to make each other better, happier, more successful and more confident, which was managed by the main characters Mia and Sebastian.
The film focuses on music and dance. I, as not a lover of the musical genre, was first alarmed by the abundance of musical and choreographic accompaniment, but soon I involuntarily, without noticing it, began to sing along and dance. Particularly striking and memorable scene in the planetarium. The flight of the main characters under the dome of the starry sky looks fresh, new and certainly incredibly beautiful.
Operator work is a hotel plus the film. The picture is extremely good visually. California landscapes are fascinating and create a sense of belonging. Mass scenes in a bar, restaurant, at a Hollywood party you want to watch without stopping.
'La La Land' - a bright, colorful and fabulous movie for family or romantic viewing. The picture leaves only pleasant impressions, light sadness, naivety. The world created on the screen fascinates and falls in love with itself at first sight. This is an amazing film about youth and love, about dreamers and realists, about endless inspiration and boundless happiness.
Have a good time!
“La La Land” is one of those films that literally split the audience: some saw in the musical a banal imitation of old films, others – a touching story about dreams, reality, the complexity of becoming. In general, ambiguity in the perception of any work of art often indicates that the author does not try to indulge the audience, but creates an honest, unpretentious work. This is one of my favorite movies that I can watch countless times. Why? Let's figure it out.
Novice actress Mia works as a barista in a cafe. Since childhood, she dreams of major roles in movies and fame, but auditions constantly turn into a complete failure. One day the music will introduce the girl to the talented pianist Sebastian, a passionate lover of jazz and their lives will change. Yes, quite by chance a stranger in a crowd becomes a close friend and more.
A striking feature of this musical are dances, soundtrack, framed in a dynamic camera work. In general, I think that if instead of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, the choreography and songs were performed by professionals, then refinement would deprive the film of liveliness and soulfulness. The main characters are childishly dreamy, and “serious adults” are depicted in a caricature. La La Land is also filmed with postmodern humor. It is unobtrusive, so this film can be revised many times, not tired of irony.
Damien Chazelle in La La Lande showed a special facet of the concept of love: a sense of temporary outlet, support. Something similar, I thought, was felt by Bob and Charlotte in Sofia Coppola’s Translation Difficulties. In both films, there are no scenes of passionate love, because what the characters live is more like a friendship, saving, but not eternal.
Many viewers accuse the musical Demian Chazelle of deaf naivety, remoteness from reality. In fact, it is a mistake to think that La La Land is just another romantic comedy. It seemed to me to be a very heartfelt story about dreams and reality, about concepts that unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?) are not always compatible.
Yes, it is the air dances, the energetic jazz that hides the subtle sadness. And the fantastic elements interspersed in the plot are part of the fantasies of the escapist, for whom the boundary between reality and his own dreams is very blurred.
But tragedy is not the main message of the film. There is a place for happiness, fleeting, impermanent, and therefore present. In the balance between sadness and vitality lies the hidden realism of La La Landa. Unlike older films, with which this film is often compared, the finale lacks certainty or judgment. Our life consists of meetings, breakups and constant choices, the consequences of which we cannot appreciate. C'est la vie...
I love this movie so much! Although I know that people who watched it are divided into two types: who really like this film, and who do not like it at all.
This film is not about love, as it may seem at first glance! It's called straight from the name. La La Land is not only the nickname of Los Angeles, but also an English expression meaning “a departure from reality into the land of dreams and fantasies.” So the movie is about dreamers! The main conflict is not a love drama, but a betrayal of ideals. He betrays his dream at the moment when he changes it to an unloved but profitable business, she - when finally gives up.
Movies about dreamers teach us to dream. This also proves that it is not enough to learn to dream, you need to learn to achieve what you want no matter what.
Until I saw this movie, I didn’t really like Ryan Gosling or Emma Stone. I don't have any questions. They not only look like a typical Hollywood couple, but also did a great job: took ballroom dancing and step lessons, and Gosling even learned to play the piano so that he was able to perform his parts in the frame without doubles and assistants.
In terms of visual presentation, I am ready to sing every frame of this film. Everyone. Damn it. Screenshot. From the very first scene in traffic, the Oscar for camera work shines through. Every corner, every frame, every composition is selected and thought out with style. The color scheme also causes me an uncontrollable bout of happiness. And costumes... Surprised that there is still no article on the Internet “La La Land costumes as works of art”.
Separately, I can not help noting the scene on the pier and Emma Stone’s final song “The Fools Who Dream” – their soul rumbling.
All dreamers are required to watch.
Although I don't really like musicals, something made me watch this one to the end. He did it in 4 days. The camera work is chic, the staging of dance parts is also wonderfully executed. The atmosphere of fairy tales and dreams was successful in reality. If not for the plot, it would be a canonical revival of the genre from the 50s. But it's not that simple. Considering the idea of a romantic pursuit of a dream, at the end of the story, the musical strikes such a blow. It is raising the question that perhaps we should be afraid of fulfilling our desires that makes his happy ending stand out among other musical films. It is these last few minutes that take La Land to the next level. Without them, it would be a very beautiful, but passing film, in which, to give credit, the plot develops quite quickly for a musical.
To my shame, only now (April 2020) I watched the acclaimed film La La Land. The advantages of such a viewing include that it happened in almost quarantine cinema, where I was the only spectator.
A movie. If you ask (and even if you don’t ask) who the main character of this movie is, I will tell you that it’s not the owner of bottomless eyes Emma Stone or charismatic alpha male Ryan Gosling, it’s music. Music, sounds that fill the film from the first frame to the last credit. Music focuses our attention on important plot moments, it lives its own life and imperceptibly woven from the behind-the-scenes accompaniment into the frame and into the whistling or singing of the main characters. Music, after all, is what has become a common language for the main male and female character. As a result, the Oscar for best song and music. Now, in order.
La la land. The name itself in English is an idiom, denoting some unreal, fantastic place. It is in this place, to some extent, the action of the discussed film takes place. At the same time, "la-la" is an obvious musical reference. Great find.
Plot. Mia is a barista who serves the first Hollywood stars and dreams of becoming one of them. But, here’s the bad luck, the results of the castings, despite the really convincing play of the actress, do not give any results. Sebastian is a talented pianist who, instead of his favorite jazz, is forced to play Jingle Balls. Of course, they met and not once. Two talented people, fascinated by art in its classic, even slightly retro manifestation. Next, we will find, in general, an almost classical Hollywood narrative of melodrama. But not quite.
A musical. The musical is one of the main genres of classical Hollywood, its Golden Age, later it (like the classical western, noir, etc.) gradually goes into oblivion. There were, of course, attempts at resuscitation, in the form of the same “Chicago”, but if we talk about the proximity to the classics of the musical, “La La Land” convinced me a little more. Of course, atmosphere and scenery play a role here. Again, a well-deserved Oscar to the production artist. But, speaking about the more non-trivial and interesting aspects related to this film with the musical, first of all, it is worth highlighting two: time and camera work.
Time. What bribed me in this film was able to shake the framework of the traditional, familiar to us hundreds of times, plot. When does the action take place? Don't you care? Here, modern smartphones coexist with retro posters, new models of cars with old-fashioned suits and jazz. Time is relative – as if this film tells us at every step, especially closer to the end, when at some point we cease to understand what is real and what is not.
Cinematography. Long shot. This is something that Hollywood (and not only) movies often delight us with. If the average length of the frame in action is 3-5 seconds, then the elements of the musical, which are full-fledged songs, are shot completely in one frame (several minutes). This is the unrealistic work of the director-director, requiring months of rehearsals (in this case, you do not resort to editing, everything should be perfected, hundreds of extras should work as one mechanism), and the operator’s work adjusted to a centimeter and a degree. And again a well-deserved Oscar for camera work.
Actors. In fact, there are only two of them, all the rest, as it happens in musicals, just extras. Sometimes singing, sometimes dancing, sometimes even playing an important plot role, but extras. The big challenge was facing a couple of main characters.
Emma Stone. I will go against the system and immediately start with the fact that the actress received an Oscar for this role, despite the fact that at the time of watching I did not remember whether she had it for this film, but after her first in-film casting, I realized that it could not be. I have to admit that I have not seen her in serious roles before, or have not perceived her, but here she opened up fully. It is impossible not to believe, and the chemistry between her and Gosling, which is felt even through the canvas of the screen – something unreal and not quite typical of modern cinema.
Ryan Gosling. Nomination, not Oscar. In principle, perhaps fair. If in Emma’s case I saw a transformation and a new image, Gosling remained Gosling. Of course, with new notes, like wine material, which was poured into another barrel and he acquired a different shade, but this is still the same Ryan Gosling, a favorite of women, macho and just a good actor, perfectly coped with the role.
Melodrama? I can't say it's not a melodrama. Fabulously, this is a picture of the relationship between two people in love. Therefore, people who consider themselves above this, this story may seem too banal (as I did at the beginning). But, digging deeper, you begin to understand that this is a film about the goal and following it, the cost of betraying that very goal and concessions to please circumstances. Especially, I am sure, it will be close to those whose field of activity, or even dreams, are associated with creativity, stage and art.
To be successful or to be happy, which is more important? Heroes make that choice. Your choice is yours.
Who's watching? Those who have not yet watched, of course (the film of 2016), lovers of aesthetically beautiful cinema, music, melodrama (which, in principle, is not necessary). Those who want to see something new and unexpected in what is essentially a mass culture. I recommend it to everyone. Even if you don’t like it, it’s an experience that won’t be superfluous.
