Aaron Edward Eckhart was born on March 12, 1968 in Northern California. His parents were the poet and author of children's books Mary Eckhart and information technology specialist James Eckhart. Aaron was the youngest of their three sons.
As a teenager, Aaron traveled extensively: his family first lived in England, and then moved to Australia. After graduating from high school, Aaron surfed in Hawaii for three years, and then served in a religious mission in Switzerland and France.

Aaron Eckhart studied at Brigham Young University with a degree in drama. At this time he met with Neil Labyth and played several roles in his plays.
Eckhart's debut film was the film "Slaughter of the Innocent", released in 1994. But the actor became popular after filming in the film Labuta “In the company of men” (1997).
