Michael Richard Emerson, American theater and film actor, was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA, on September 7, 1954. Educated at Drake University, Mike came to New York in search of acting fame. But he was not lucky, he could not find a job, interrupted by part-time jobs, until the vacancy of a freelance illustrator was vacant in one of the magazines. Michael Richard married in 1986 and he and his wife moved to Florida. However, family happiness was short-lived, and the marriage broke up in 1993.

Michael Richard married in 1986 and he and his wife moved to Florida. However, family happiness was short-lived, and the marriage broke up in 1993. During this period, Michael plays in the Jacksonville Theater, participates in many productions, but, unfortunately, acting does not bring Emerson enough money for a living.
Despite all the setbacks, Emerson stubbornly goes to his goal, honing his acting skills. Michael Richard receives a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival program. However, even then, he received offers only from local theaters. In 1997, Michael Emerson was invited to play a supporting role in Moises Kaufman’s Gross Indecency: The Trials of Oscar Wilde, and soon took the lead role. He was finally spotted and offered a job in Gross Indecency. On the set of The Journey, Michael met his future wife, Kerry Preston, and they married in 1998.
Michael plays a lot in the theater. His partners on stage were such famous actors as
Uma Thurman Kevin Spacey, Kate Barton. Emerson played in theaters in Boston and Washington, and in 2001 stopped on Broadway. Between productions, Michael Richard played the role of mentally unstable William Hinks in the series.
Practice , which earned him an Emmy Award in the nomination "Special guest actor".
During his career Emerson tried on a huge number of images, but could not find his role. Early in his career, Michael played mostly comedic roles, and later sinister characters began to appear on his account.
Filming in the television series Lost brought Michael Emerson the second Emmy Award.
