In the 1950s, Richard Beymer appeared in several films, and starred in The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) and West Side Story (1961). One of the most striking works of the actor was the film The Longest Day (1962), where he was a partner of Richard Barton. In 1963, Beymer worked in the New York acting studio, later became an activist in the Mississippi struggle for the rights of black Americans. In 1974, Richard Beymer made his debut as a film director. In the 1980s, the actor actively starred in supporting roles, and his most memorable role was Benjamin Horne in the David Lynch television series Twin Peaks.
