Born September 30, 1952. He graduated from the Theatre School in Yaroslavl in 1971. He worked in the Riga Youth Theatre, Leningrad Comedy Theatre, BDT. Among his roles of that period: Shadow (“Shadow”), Alceste (“Misanthrope”), Bulanov (“Forest”), Tom (“Glass Menagerie”). He graduated from the Theatre School in Yaroslavl in 1971.
He worked in the Riga Youth Theatre, Leningrad Comedy Theatre, BDT. Among his roles of that period: Shadow (“Shadow”), Alceste (“Misanthrope”), Bulanov (“Forest”), Tom (“Glass Menagerie”). In 1979 he played a solo performance “Pushkin and Natalie” (composition and production by K. Ginkas).
Since 1984 - artist of the Moscow Theatre "Hermitage" p/r. Levitina, where in his repertoire: "Straw hat" (Fadinar), "The Beggar, or the Death of Zand" (Schlippenbach), "Evening in a Madhouse" (Author), "Sonechka and Casanova" (Casanova).
He played in the performances of K. Ginkas in the MTUZ “Notes from the Underground” (Paradoxalist), “Playing a Crime” (Porfiry Petrovich) and Y. Eremin in the Pushkin Theater – “Erik XIV” (Erik) and “Inspector” (Khlestakov).
In 1995, he was accepted into the troupe of the Art Theatre, where he played Arbenin ("Masquerade"), Tuzenbach ("Three Sisters"), Louis the Great ("Cabal Svyatosh", 1988), Base ("A Midsummer Night's Dream"), Count Anselmo ("Venice Antique"), Dr. Fregoli ("The Most Important"), Thoth ("He Who Gets Slapped"), Cyrano de Bergerac, Podkolesina ("Marriage").
In the Center named after V. Meyerhold played Artaud in the play by V. Fokin “Arto and his Double”.
Since 2005, the artist of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg. Roles: Gogol's "Marriage."
Laureate of the I. M. Smoktunovsky Prize, in 1999 he was awarded the Great Gold Medal of A. S. Pushkin.
People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
He died on May 21, 2007.
