The future People’s Artist of Russia was born in Moscow on March 27, 1948. He began acting in films at the age of 14: the first role of Zharkov was pioneer Petya in the film by Mark Donskoy "Hello, children!". After receiving professional education (Zharkov graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio, the course of A. Karev), Alexey Dmitrievich worked at the Yermolova Moscow Theater, which much later left for several years to return again.
Appearance and talent of the actor allowed him to work in different roles, playing in adventure and political films, comedies and dramas, detectives and melodramas. One of the most memorable roles of Zharkov is the investigator in
Pulp Talent . He played scoundrels and righteous, plebeians and aristocrats, representatives of the nobility and those about whom it is customary to speak "from dirt to princes" (Baron Danglar in English).

Alexey Dmitrievich is happily married, he has two children: his son Maxim, who chose a completely different profession (works as an investigator for the prosecutor’s office), and daughter Anastasia, who after graduating from school from the second visit entered the acting faculty in GITIS (RATI) – followed in the footsteps of his famous father.
He died on June 5, 2016.
