After the death of her husband Stepan, the beautiful Danka, the heroine of the painting “Living Water” (Z. Kiriyenko), seemed numb. The seal fell on her mouth and soul. The young widow carried herself proudly and did not allow anyone to see her tears. And only a meeting with the new forester, Anton, melted the ice in Dunca's soul. The hot look of his eyes she could not forget. She did not know what this love would bring her, until old man Kasich (V. Smolyak) prophesied to her that she would have another wedding, and a son would be born, and in ten years this same boy would collect mushrooms in his native forest. I didn't believe Dunka, I thought people with Kasich were laughing at her. But an unknown force continued to bring them closer to Anton, and gradually Danka ceased to doubt that she would still have real happiness in her fate.
Human envy
In the meantime, a disaster worse than poachers came to the forest. The director of the local Ostapchuk plant decided to cut beech. In his own way, Kasich interpreted this intention: short ages of people, so evil people envy the age-old forest. Revenge him. And no matter what protects the forest, life gives - still narrow-minded tribe goes into thickets with axes. The forester decided to go to the city to protect the forest. To get to the most important and defend justice. Whoever hides the sun will be cold.
Ostapchuk is unhappy that Anton Demjanovich stood in his way. The storm, as the forester advises him, he does not agree to understand, which means that a real war will begin between them.
Prince love
Defending their native forest, as alive as the heart, Danka and Anton realize that they cannot live without each other. But none of the loved ones share the joy of this couple. Christine, her best friend, confesses to Danke that she loves the forester herself and is angry with the breakaway. Dunky's adult sons don't accept her husband, whom she brought into her home. Two loving people will have to overcome many difficulties before cloudless happiness comes to them.
