Wealthy lady Christine Sanders (Carol Alt) has been divorced from her Arab husband (Kabir Bedi) for 10 years, but remains friendly with him. And then one day someone throws her a box, which reveals a black lace and a certain Arabic inscription "MAKTUB", which means "So written." And the next day, the lady goes to the boarding school, where her 13-year-old son studies, to take him on vacation. It consists of five episodes and covers the period from the death of his father, Pepin the Short in AD 768 until Charlemagne's corronation as the first Holy Roman Emperor on Christmas Day, AD 800. However, there is a minor chronological anachronism: in an earlier episode, we see Widukind, the king of the Saxons surrender and convert to Christianity, which didn't happen until AD 803.
This program was directed by Clive Donner and based primarily on the contemporary biography of Charlemagne written by Einhard, who knew Charlemagne personally. close

Total Recall 2070 is a science fiction television series first broadcast in 1999 on the Canadian television channel CHCH-TV and later the same year on the American Showtime channel. It was later syndicated in the United States with some editing to remove scenes of nudity, violence and strong language. The series was inspired by the 1990 film Total Recall, based on Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale", and by Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, with a visual style heavily influenced by the film Blade Runner, itself very loosely based on the same novel. Dick is not credited in any way on the series main or end titles.
The series was filmed in Toronto. It was a Canadian/German co-production. Only one season, consisting of 22 episodes, was produced. close
