Director and screenwriter Alexei Nikolaevich Sakharov was born on April 17, 1934 in the Kaluga region, in the village of Vorotynsk. In 1958, after graduating from the directorial faculty of VGIK, where his mentor was Sergey Yutkevich, he became a director at the Mosfilm film studio. His first films, in which fabulous motifs were used - "The Legend of the Ice Heart" and "Snow Tale" - he shot together with Eldar Shengelai. Among his other paintings are “The Pass”, “Clean Ponds”, “The Case of Polynin”, and the film “A Man in His Place” staged by him in 1972 about the young chairman of the collective farm was awarded the All-Union Film Festival prize. In 1979, Alexei Sakharov shot a tetralogy about the whole of the 1950s - "Taste of bread", awarded the State Prize of the USSR. One of the successes of the director was the film adaptation of A.S. Pushkin’s novel “Peasant Girl”, marked by many cinematic awards. The last work of Alexei Sakharov was the adaptation of the play by A.N. Ostrovsky - the musical "In a bright place", which premiered on January 9, 1999. Unfortunately, a few days after the premiere, on January 26, 1999, the director died of a heart attack. . .
