In 1958, together with playwright John Osborne, whose play Look Back in Anger directed by Tony Richardson, was a great success, the director founded the film company Woodfall Film Productions, whose first film adaptation of this play with Richard Barton was released in 1958, and the first commercial success of the director was the film Saturday Night, Sunday Morning (1960). In 1961, Tony Richardson shot his hit "Taste of Honey", in 1962 the film "Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner" was released, and the historical drama Tom Jones (1963) made the director famous, which received three Oscars - as best film, as well as for best director and screenplay.
