Kim Novak was born on February 13, 1933 in Chicago and is considered one of the most mysterious sex symbols of the 50s and 60s. Unlike other movie stars, the beautiful blonde revealed the discouraging intelligence and fascinating power of passion. One of the last "studio" stars, Kim rebelled against the exploitation of the image, not wanting to be on the screen only as a brainless charmer. Beauty seemed to be a heavy burden, not a valuable investment.
Marilyn Pauline Novak (real name Kim) was the daughter of a railway worker emirating from the Czech Republic. Before it was discovered by the ruler of Columbia Pictures, Harry Cohn, who needed to replace their out-of-control star, Rita Hayworth, Novak tried many jobs - she was a saleswoman, an elevator operator, an advertising model in a refrigeration company. In 1954, Cohn signed a contract with her. At the same time, Kim gave the first fight to the leadership, refusing to take the pseudonym “Kit Marlowe”. Kim later acknowledged her role as head of the studio in her career, but did not miss the opportunity to report on her hard work.
Although Kim Novak played a tiny role in The French Line in 1954, her debut is considered to be the lead role with Fred McMurray in Pushover. At first, the cameras embarrassed her, but soon Kim managed to forget about her fears, and the next film - "Picnic" in 1955 - was a real breakthrough. Unlike other stars, Kim remained completely pragmatic and did not lose her head from the shine of fame. Kim Novak’s career continued until 1970. In 1965, she played in “The Adventures of Love by Molly Flanders” and remarried, after which she began to appear less and less on the screen. And soon moved to Northern California, where she and her husband founded a farm on which they grow llamas. She occasionally appears on television, but only on her own. At home, she talks about someone named Kim Novak as a stranger.
