Craig Nelson was born on April 4, 1944. His father, Armand Gilbert Nelson, was an entrepreneur at the time, but earlier, being young and reckless, he was a drummer in the well-known band Bing Crosby. Craig’s mother, Vera Margaret Nelson, worked as a dancer for a long time. Perhaps it is the creative inclinations of parents and manifested in the boy, who subsequently tried to take his place in show business.
The birthplace of the future actor is a small American town of Spokane, located in Washington state. Craig received secondary education at a local school, and he studied the basics of theatrical art at the University of Arizona, called the Oxford Theatre. Nelson made the first uncertain steps in show business, becoming the author and performer of comedy-style songs on the radio. In this role Craig was waiting for a crushing failure, so much influenced him that he immediately after writing the failed compositions, taking his wife and children, moved to Northern California. There, in the Shasta Mountains, Nelson found a deaf and secluded place to live, where he began to work as an educator, surveyor and carpenter. So he spent four and a half years, until he finally survived his "crash" as an author.
Having recovered, Craig braved a new storm of the peaks of show business, but already as an actor. He made his debut in the 1979 film Justice for All. This experience was much more successful than the previous one, and Nelson began to be invited to shoot in various films, such as “The Fields of Death”, “Private Benjamin”, “Poltergeist or a riot of spirits” and others. The most famous paintings that brought Craig Nelson world fame and popularity are films.
