Eugene Alden Hackman. Gene Hackman (full name Eugene Alden Hackman) was born on January 30, 1930 in San Bernardo, California, USA. At 16, he left home and, lying about his age, joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served three years.
After the dismissal of the army, Jean Hackman entered the University of Illinois, began to study journalism and work on TV. He then moved to New York City, where he enrolled in Radio Engineering School.
Hackman decided to take up acting when he was about thirty years old and began studying at the Pasadena Playhouse with Dustin Hoffman. Then he worked in New York theaters, made his way to Broadway.
Starting to play in the movies in 1961, in the film Lilith, the actor showed himself to be such a strong performer that Warren Beatty, who starred with him, invited Hackman to play in Bonnie and Clyde (1967). This film, directed by Arthur Penn, was a milestone for Gene Hackman - with it began his ascent to the pinnacle of artistic fame, the next step to which was the detective William Friedkin's "French Connection" (1971).
Later, Gene Hackman starred in fantastic films ("Superman"), in "catastrophe films" ("The Adventures of Poseidon"), in detectives ("The Conversation" by Francis Ford Coppola, "The Firm"), in comedies ("Young Frankenstein" by Mel Brooks), in thrillers ("The Night Moves" by Arthur Penn, "The Domino Principle"), in dramas ("No Extremes").
The wonderfully played supporting role in Clint Eastwood’s Western “Unforgiven” led to two interesting works – in the film “Wyatt Earp”, the actor played the role of the father of the main character, and in Sam Raimi’s “Fast and Dead”, he embodied the image of the “main villain”.
