Alison Stadman was born in 1946 in Liverpool to George and Marjorie Stadman. Her father worked for the electric company as a controller. As a child, Alison liked to take part in productions of children's theater, and after graduation, she decided to study secretarial business, later becoming an assistant secretary in one of the companies for the supervision of probation.
At the age of twenty, she moved from Liverpool to London, where she began to attend the Eastern Theatre School. Then she met her future husband Mike Lee, whom she married in 1973.
Alison's first film roles were as Beverly in her husband's "Abigail's Party." She has performed in theaters such as The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Entertaining Mr Sloane and Hotel Paradiso. She has appeared on the stage of various theaters, including the Hampstead Theatre, Royal Court, Theatre Royal, Old Vic, Nottingham Playhouse and the National Theatre.
During her acting career, Alison Stadman starred in many films. The most significant roles for her were in the films Shirley Valentine, Wilt, Puncture, Private Celebration,
"Sweets of Life" . The role in the latter brought Alison in 1992 the award of the Society of film critics of the United States in the nomination “Best actress”.
The actress continued her work on television, starring in such series as Fat Friends, for which she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in 2001, as well as The Last Detective, The Worst Week of My Life, Stories Chilling Blood, Lewis, Inspector George Gently, Gavin & Stacey. Pride and Prejudice and a number of others.
In addition to filming and participating in theater productions, Alison worked on the voiceover of children's television shows Bilder and Bob. In addition, she voiced the characters of the cartoon “Revenge of the Snow Queen”, “Despicable duckling”, “Jack and the bean seed” and a number of others.
