Ivan Ivanov-Vano, a famous animator, director, screenwriter, was the same age as the twentieth century. He was born in 1900 in Moscow. He loved to draw since childhood, graduated from VKHUTEMAS in the studio of Ilya Mashkov and in 1924 at the invitation of a friend, artist Vladimir Suteev, came to work in the State College of Cinematography. A year later, his first animated film “China on Fire” was released. Ivanov-Vano served as an animator, but tried and directed films. His first work as a director-director is the animated film “Roller”, and then he made the first children’s cartoon “Senka is an African” based on Chukovsky’s poems and fairy tales.
When the film studio Soyuzmultfilm was created, Ivanov-Vano moved there to work as a director. His children's cartoons became favorite among children and adults and are considered classics of Soviet animation. Basically, Ivanov Vano created cartoons based on fairy tales: “12 months”, “Snow Maiden”, “Humpbacked Horse”,
"The Tale of King Saltan" . He also worked on political satire.

In addition to animating and directing activities, Ivanov-Vano wrote several books about animation and memoirs. The awards of the artist did not pass.
