In the 40s, the family moved to the city of Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod), where the boy spent his school years, and there he got acquainted with the teacher of the Moscow Small Theater, after which he, of course, dreamed only of the stage, although before that Roman Filippov read classical literature and was fond of chess.
Roman Filippov after school entered the Shchepkin School, and together with him, Yuri Solomin, Viktor Bortsov and Alexei Eibozhenko studied at the course.
In 1957, after graduating from school, the actor was accepted into the troupe of the Maly Theatre, where he worked until 1960 inclusive. However, due to disagreements with the director of the theater, he was forced to leave it. In different years Roman Filippov worked in the Moscow Drama Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin, in the Moscow Concert, in the academic theater named after Y. Kupala, but it was already in Minsk. In 1969, the actor returned to the Maly Theatre.
The most significant theatrical productions with the participation of the actor are “Forest”, “Russian people”, “Nedorosl”, “Long day goes into night”.
Roman Filippov made his film debut in the film “World Champion” in 1954. In 1961, while working in the theater, Roman Filippov starred in a wonderful Soviet comedy.
