Bjorn Andresen belongs to the category of actors whose star flashes unusually early and brightly, and just as quickly fades. He was one of one and a half thousand applicants for the role of young Tadzio - the main character of the film directed by Lukino Visconti.
" Death in Venice It is called “one of the 50 greatest paintings of the twentieth century”. Seeing him, the director immediately approved the young man for the role.
The film was made in 1971 based on the works of T. Mann and told (very slowly) about the events that took place in Venice during the cholera epidemic. Composer Gustav von Aschenbach
Actor Dirk Bogard ) comes to Venice in the hope of improving his health and encounters Tadzio in the hotel corridor, who amazes him with his beauty. From this moment the musician literally raves, dreaming of a young man. Even death cannot change the course of his thoughts. The film had a clearly homosexual taste and the press – a real curse of public people, immediately accused the young actor of homosexuality. However, it was the director of the film that could provoke such a reaction, as Bjorn Andersen himself later said: I was only 16 when I was a young man.
Lucino Visconti And his team took me to a gay club. Almost all of them were gay. The visitors made me feel very uncomfortable. They stared at me as if I were an exquisite meat delicacy. I knew I couldn't react. That would be social suicide.”
Meanwhile, “the most beautiful young man of the twentieth century” dreamed of becoming not an actor at all, but a musician and creating his own musical group, but these dreams were shattered by rumors and gossip.
The next film in which the young actor starred was the Swedish film Cool Stop. It was released in 1977, and it was Bjorn's last major role. In 1983, the actor got a family, he had a son who died suddenly at the age of three. This caused a nervous breakdown of Andersen, and recalled the death of his mother, which he experienced at the age of 10.
After a couple of years, the actor managed to get out of the crisis and for ten years he was busy in various film and television projects, and became the creator of several musical works. And then again there was a decade-long failure. The last films in which Bjorn Andersen starred were
"Pelican-Man" and
The Book of Worlds . /
