British film producer Lew Grade has Ukrainian roots – he was born in the Russian Empire on the territory of Ukraine on December 25, 1906. At birth, he received a completely different name – Lovat (Lev) Vinogradsky. In 1912, his parents immigrated to London to escape persecution. Grade was initially engaged in dancing, then in the search for talent, and after his interests shifted to television production, which he began to work closely since 1954. Grade was initially engaged in dancing, then in the search for talent, and after his interests shifted to television production, which he began to work closely since 1954.
After working for some time in the United States, he realized the potential of selling television programs for American networks, and formed a subsidiary of the already established Associated Television company called the Incorporated Television Company. Grade's work resulted in several successful TV shows, including such a famous one as
The Muppet Show To the creation of which he was directly involved, as well as the animated film “Dark Crystal”, also created by the “father” of the Muppets.
