Dmitry Lvovich Bykov was born on December 20, 1967 in Moscow. Shortly after the birth of the boy, his parents divorced, and Dmitry was raised by one mother – a teacher of Russian language and literature. After graduating with a gold medal, he entered the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, which he successfully graduated in 1991 with a red diploma. Dmitry Lvovich Bykov was born on December 20, 1967 in Moscow. Shortly after the birth of the boy, his parents divorced, and Dmitry was raised by one mother – a teacher of Russian language and literature. After graduating with a gold medal, he entered the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, which he successfully graduated in 1991 with a red diploma. The interest of his whole life, by his own admission, is an alternative history, in particular, of Soviet times. Dmitry Bykov is a well-known author of polemical, literary and journalistic articles.
Since 1985, Dmitry Lvovich works in the "Interlocutor", published many of his publications in magazines and newspapers "Ogonek", "Capital", "Trud", "Novaya Gazeta", "Russian Life". He published five novels, six collections of poetry, and three books with his articles. Since 1991 he has been a member of the Writers’ Union. In 1992, he first appeared on television in the program of Kira Proustinskaya. He was the author and host of many programs, led his own program “Good Bulls”. Dmitry Bykov worked for two years (from 2006 to 2008) as editor-in-chief of the Moulin Rouge project. In 2009, he received an offer to host the program “Born in the USSR” (on the channel “Nostalgia”).
He is a winner of many literary awards, from 2003 to 2006 he led a master class at the Institute of Journalism. In 2008, the world saw his scientific and documentary film “Virginity”, the script of which Dmitry Bykov wrote together with Vitaly Mansky. Since 2010 he has been working as a host of the talk show “Picture with Oil” on the channel “Petersburg-Fifth Channel”.
His most famous novels are “The Exorcist-2006”, “Decommissioned”, “Orthography”, “Evacuator”, “Boris Pasternak”, “The Miracle”, “Ostromov or the Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, “Anniversary”.
Dmitry Bykov has been married for many years. His wife Irina Lukyanova is a translator and prose writer. Together they published books for children “Beasts and Beasts” and “In the world of tummy”. They have two children and a lot of pets.
