Russian actor, director. He was born in Moscow on April 7, 1919. He began his creative career in 1937 in the Stanislavsky Opera and Drama Studio, which later became the Stanislavsky Theatre. He played several first-order roles (Griboyedov in the play by S. Yermolinsky Griboyedov, directed by M. Yanshin, 1951). This role created fame for the young actor, as well as the role of Richard Darjen in the Devil's Apprentice B. Shaw (1957) and Stepan Bumbarash in the play On the Street of the Happy Yuri Printsev (1954). In the theater Stanislavsky played the role of Sergei in the play of the Maiden-beauty A. Simukov (1953), Titsa in the play Coward A. Krona (1956). During the same period, he began acting in films. In 1957 N. Okhlopkov invited him to the Moscow Theater named after V. Mayakovsky, recognizing in Levinson a characteristic-dramatic hero. The role of Stepan Solnyshkin in the play The Far Road of A. Arbuzov was the first on the stage of this theater. Then there were the roles of Zhenya Salazkin in Little Student N. Pogodin (1959), an episode of a philosophizing passerby in Irkutsk history. Then he began to play more significant roles: Judge Azdak in the Caucasian Cretaceous Circle, Gnafey in the End of the Sixth Book, Mehantrope, which became the most interesting acting work in the play Faust and the death of the Ukrainian writer A. Levada (1961). He played Alexander in the play In the Mountains My Heart Saroyan. On the stage, Levinson may appear either as a lyceum, a popular actor, or as a truth-seeker in art who does not allow himself a shadow of play. Director B. Ravensky revealed the comedic features of the actor. The roles of Mendozo (Duenya Sheridan), Don Juan (Do not touch P. Calderon with love) are played in an eccentric manner using an ageless arsenal of “theatre jokes”. From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, Levinson created on the stage of the Mayakovsky Theatre a number of bright, psychologically unfolded images: Vozhak (Man from Lamancha D. Vasserman and D. Derion), Vermishev (His dear R. Ibrahimbekova), Bohm clown (Venseremos! G. Borovik), Second Deputy (Agent 00 G. Borovik), Grossman (Fruits of Education L. Tolstoy), etc. Having reached retirement age, he left the Mayakovsky Theatre. Participates in the performances of entreprise (Martin Weller in the Game of Gin by D. Koburn, 1994, the theater “At the Nikitsky Gate”).
He played solo performances on the stages of the Moscow theaters “Sphere” and “At the Nikitsky Gate” – Notes of a young doctor and a Theater novel. Notes of a Young Doctor (1980) – Levinson’s first production of Bulgakov’s works. The performance is made by the artist so that nothing distracts the viewer from the clever and subtle stories of M. Bulgakov. The tragic is replaced by comic, the acute - philosophical reflections. As a director, Levinson worked on the performances Friends remain friends of K. Simonov and V. Dykhovichny (1945, restored this performance in 1965 & #215; 1985), Nothing special by V. Tokareva (1985, at the Taganka Theatre). Back in the 1960s, he tried himself as a director of radio performances. I worked a lot on the stage. He staged pop miniatures for various performers (Pif-Paf, performers A. Livshitz and A. Levenbuk, 1966; Little Things of life A. Height, performer G. Khazanov, 1978, etc.).
He died on December 19, 2002.
