Martynov's film debut took place in 1967. Then he played the role of Zernov in the film Tatiana Day directed by Isidor Annensky. This story tells about the birth of parties in revolutionary Russia. The following year, he was invited to play Marat in the film Passenger from the Equator.
In the 1970s, Alexander Martynov played in such films as “The Right to Jump”, “Chao!”,
