I don’t know why, but it’s hard for me to describe all the positive emotions I felt watching this movie.
In the film there is laughter and crying, and joy and disappointment, misunderstanding and understanding, anger and sincere love. In general, there is a lot, you just can not remain indifferent to the film. Maybe something else, but this movie will catch you.
Patrick is a great guy, a great optimist, always hoping for something better. However, one day, fate lets him know that life is difficult, and he gives fate a somewhat rash answer. He is locked up in a mental hospital, where he finds a good friend, and after 8 months, believing that he will be able to return everything, decides to start life anew. Attacks of aggression still happen, he tries to fight it, but the only thing that can save him is a crazy girl like him. And he meets this ray of hope, without realizing it himself, in a girl named Tiffany. There are feelings between them, but Pat keeps them at a dangerous distance, because the past does not allow him to wake up.
Separately, I want to highlight Robert de Niro, who played the role of Patrick’s father in the film. It is this character that adds even more drama to the film and fills the film with even deeper meaning.
I also want to pay attention to the musical accompaniment. In the film, it is very well selected.
Is that what we end up with? If you combine a good cast, a rather impressive acting, an interesting plot, a perfectly selected musical accompaniment, then we get a great adult film, with a deep meaning, and instructive content. Because whatever the fall, if you believe in yourself, the rise will be, and a hundred times more beautiful. .
There are no perfect people, just find someone as crazy as you. (c)
How to live a mentally ill person in a world of seemingly normal people? The one from whom almost everyone turned away, and only the closest still continue to believe. Are the people around you normal? The father is obsessed with the game, the brother is painfully ambitious, the best friend runs away from the mental hospital again, the friend accumulates anger, remaining friendly in public. In fact, it is an open, sincere “fool” who turns out to be a truly normal person who wants to empathize.
When you seek and do not find understanding and warmth, only a person close to similar problems will be able to help you. And the hero finds a girl like him, misunderstood and suffering, struggling with numerous cockroaches. It's easier to fight together. It's easier to get back together. Together it is easier to go to joint victories. Especially since there is a first target on the horizon.
Of course, this picture is not a comedy. Comic elements are present, but often they are also sad if you put yourself in the place of the characters. Almost like life, the director finds a place to smile where it is time to cry. And sometimes, when you don't really expect, a weird friend comes along to cheer you up. Spiritual experiences, the search for heroes are shown wonderfully.
The live camera introduces the viewer to the events, we together with Pat make a morning run in a garbage bag (to prostrate), together rooting for your favorite team, together learn simple steps.
Well written dialogue. They are not artificial, as if designed only to convey some information, they are also alive, filled with parasitic words, insignificant remarks, remarks, small details, which are not easy to follow, so there is no effect of playful scenes.
Complements the script slenderness excellent acting. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence actually confirm their claims to the top of acting. You don’t believe everything in your head unconditionally. A little crazy, incomprehensible, wildly surprised look Cooper is expensive. Lawrence cries as naturally as he laughs, sometimes almost simultaneously. Absolutely deserved Golden Globe nominations. It was nice to see Chris Tucker after a five-year hiatus on the big screen. The humorist did not lose his affection. I hope the next job will not be long in coming.
Without sins, unfortunately, did not do. I wish there was more unpredictability, history had it. Confessions of the heroes turned out to be completely ridiculous, although, perhaps, they will be suitable for the “abnormal”. Not fully understood was Pat's attitude to his ex-wife and why her, in fact, all the fault, no one, even he, did not condemn. Was not noticeable and the moment of catharsis, getting rid of the hero from the obsession.
In the end, we have an unexpectedly deep and profound history. Great inspirational drama not for once.
I won’t be original, but first I want to say a little bit about our distributors, because neither the title nor the positioning of the film is good for anything. It's a shame even for his fate. The friend had to drag to the session almost by force, and all because the name does not inspire trust - from the tape called "My boyfriend is crazy" (I also have an exclamation point at the end, for more dramatic, apparently) you expect some second-rate romcomedic slag. It's not like that at all. This is a great, smart, albeit slightly idealistic movie, which will appeal not so much to couples and lovers of eating popcorn, but to all the rest, those who are a little tired of template empty films.
In this film, there are many components for which I want to say thank you to its creators - this is the wonderful Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, who suddenly took and fell out of their commercial images, rejecting all sorts of "Bachelors" and "The Hunger Games". They both went crazy and showed class, the guys play with fun and they do - and oh, I hope both have a big future ahead of them. Robert de Niro here, too, decided to play, and not be fooled - and in the end, he turned into a very real and moderately insane father. Oh, come on, the cast is on top.
The only thing you can find fault with is the very different pace of the first and second half of the film. And not only the pace, they are simply in principle different, and after watching it is not recommended to remember, but how it all began. I went through everything in my head and realized that I did not have enough of this ending, there is this feeling that “we did not reach it”. The bar is too high. But just a little. I have safely forgiven David O. Russell for this, in the end, the pleasure of the film is received and even more, but what else can be demanded? Who knows how it would have been otherwise. And without a bright, clean, eternal aftertaste, this film would lose a lot, that’s for sure.
This is a good movie, which is not sorry for the time spent. It is a pleasure to watch it, it is a pleasure to recommend it to friends, and now I am pleased to write a review on it. I hope that after some time I will also be happy to review it.
Under their responsibility, the parents take Pat (Bradley Cooper) from the mental hospital, where he landed after beating his wife’s lover to death. Like any person suffering from a mental disorder, Pat considers himself, if not perfectly healthy, then at least recovering. He refuses to take medication and sincerely wants to reunite with his beloved, whom he is forbidden to approach by court order. Trying in every possible way to demonstrate his improving condition, he makes friends with the same not quite balanced Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), painfully experiencing the tragic death of her husband.
Director David O. Russell collected a fair number of awards in 2010 with his sports drama The Fighter starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg. Not the most original, but powerful emotionally and with strong acting work, the picture fell to the liking of both critics and ordinary viewers. His next film “My Boyfriend is a Psycho” (as always a free Russian translation of Matthew Quick’s original novel “A Collection of Rays of Hope”) is still out in wide distribution, but has already earned a number of festival awards, including the prize for the best film of the M/N festival in Toronto 2012, and shows excellent audience ratings.
First of all, it should be noted that this film, although it resembles, at first glance, the most passable Hollywood melodrama, in fact turns out to be much more extraordinary and subtle work. Imagine if the same "Fighter" was not a sports drama, and would become a drama about love in difficult life circumstances, that's roughly then and would be this film. The director retains the same immediate realistic manner of presenting the material, paying considerable attention to everyday details and, above all, the characters of his characters. Most of the actors involved in the film play their best roles here. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence play various degrees of insanity with stunning authenticity, Robert de Niro is moderately tragic as the head of the family obsessed with American football and even Chris Tucker is inimitable in a small but sparkling humorous cameo.
The very history of the complex relationship of two slightly shifted, rejected by society and in their own way unhappy people gives inexhaustible scope for both an unbanal plot and for subtle unconventional humor, giving the viewer the opportunity, watching their antics, at the same time laugh, and sincerely worry about them as full-fledged people, and not just patients of the “yellow” house. In addition, the finale of this story reminded me of such a wonderful film as “Little Miss Happiness”, where the degree of realistic madness also reached its limit by the end and fully resulted in a hilariously funny dance scene.
In general, “My Boyfriend is a Psycho” demonstrates a vivid example of an original, unconventional, bright and intelligent film, which, while remaining within the framework of the formally declared melodramaticity, can cause the most sincere range of emotions and experiences, for which people, in fact, watch such films.
Romantic comedy is a genre formed, with a standard set of characteristic features and clichés. Truly touching and heart-wrenching romcomas to varying degrees are permeated with drama. The film “My boyfriend is crazy” is an atypical romantic comedy, veiled as a drama.
Director and screenwriter of the film David O. Russell last year, along with the film “Fighter” hit the lists of many cinematic awards. This project was based on real events, and the new film is based on the book of the same name by Matthew Quick.
A school teacher (Bradley Cooper) is admitted to a psychiatric hospital after brutally beating his wife's lover. Long-term treatment is good for him, and his mother takes Pat home. He wants to return his wife, so he tries to change for the better. Pat is engaged in sports, trying to find a common language with his father (Robert De Niro), make friends with Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who is experiencing the death of her husband and is not far from mental insanity.
Bradley Cooper ("Dark Areas," "Bachelor Party in Vegas") and Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games," "Winter Bone") made up a great screen pair. In the script, they both suffer from mental disorders, so that others treat them about the same. The actors very confidently got used to the images and managed to accurately convey the necessary emotions. There were serious experiences, and love feelings, and madness bordering on sanity.
The opposition of the main characters to a certain extent resembles the position of the central characters of the Russian film “Inadequate People”. Only in the first case, when viewed externally, society is quite adequate, and in the second – vice versa. In fact, strangeness is almost everyone who falls into the field of view of the hero Bradley Cooper.
“My Boyfriend is a Psycho” was voted Best Film at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it’s a well-deserved award! The predictability of the finale does not negate sudden moves, humorous nuances, easy romance, charm of the cast and the sincerity of the story as a whole. Such a movie gives positive energy and peace, and for viewers who are passionate about dance culture, the picture will be doubly interesting.
Have a good time!
I went to the movies, which is not at all like me when watching this genre. Fighting the translation of the name is beyond my power. Now for the movie.
Yeah, he's good. And we could dwell on this statement, and not talk about the fact that he dug under many at once, highlighting a bunch of psychological neurotic things that everyone has. The film is good, it is pleasant to watch, but something is missing from his beloved. The actors are cute, the plot cannot be called unpredictable, everything is based on the mental disorders of the main characters and their relationships. Do you feel for them? Oh, yeah.
Perhaps for those who recently broke up, or just forewaelon, this film will be much more relevant. Not to mention those who have lost a loved one with some drama like the ones told by the main characters. This category of viewers should applaud, I think.
Bradley Cooper's good. I didn’t recognize the girl as if I was seeing her for the first time. Both go on an album of favorite images. It is worth noting that in the film I found a similarity perhaps only with "Punch-Drunk Love". Bradley Cooper mimics Adam Sandler. The theme with the infuriating song is somewhat superficial, in the same "Punch-Drunk Love" tension is shown incomparably better. The music just sounds, nervous, annoying, there are no comments on it, it is just a reflection of the inner state of the hero. Of course, in this film, everything is different, and the use of the song, and the relationship of the main characters. But the plot - two psychopaths meet and fall in love - works.
The theme of the rays of hope and philosophy “you need to work on yourself to get a bun” is so native, it is easy to slide into it when you idealize a person and are not able to question the expediency of your actions when you are not able to accept the fact that you may not be a perfect couple. Blindly intoxicated with the idea of perfect happiness with one particular person, namely this person, whom he missed is a terrible thing.
What about superstitions? It’s as if you’ve never made a condition like, “If two birds are on the horizon right now, it’s a sign that we’re the perfect couple.” Or, having hammered into your head that there is some invisible world in which your actions are very important, sit in a certain position, afraid to move, to break the "harmony" and lose the pleasant consequences that you think this pose carries? Did you really do anything like that? Yeah, yeah.
To my shame, I haven’t seen “dirty dances” yet, but probably there’s a reference to them. I like the movie, I love this kind of brain vomit. And on the queue long postponed to view “Adaptation” of the same director with Cage in the title role.
Good day, and a ray of hope. You have to cultivate the garden of your inner world. Weeds are fucked - don't start the situation.
David O. Russell has created for us a witty drama that very naturally explains and shows that love can be the most effective cure for any disease. The main characters can be characterized by the phrase “two boots – a pair”. The first boot is the hero of Bradley Cooper, a person suffering from bipolar disorder and sincerely believes that looking for “rays of hope” for himself he will be able to recover and return to his wife. Without immediately realizing it, he finds the main ray for himself - a girl named Tiffany, played by Jennifer Lawrence. Tiffany is a loving wife who turns into a nymphomaniac after her husband's death and uses sex as a means to suppress pain. At the first meeting, they immediately find a common language and feel mutual sympathy. Only if Tiffany openly shows it, Pat (Bradley Cooper) tries to suppress himself, hiding behind feelings for his wife.
Pat's family is also trying to support him in his efforts to heal. Pat's father (Robert de Niro) believes in superstition, and that the presence of his son helps to defeat his beloved team. He tries to communicate with Pat more often, realizing that as a child he did not show as much attention as necessary.
Pat and Tiffany's relationship is a conjuncture that allowed both to heal and start living again. Pat, despite his mental problems, realized he didn’t have to live in the past and that Tiffany was the one he needed. In the end, they connect and everyone is happy. It's as it should be.
Cooper surprised by the subtle work of the manifestation of disorders and internal struggle, DeNiro simply confirms the status of the master of acting, and Lawrence simply confirms the status of the most talented young actress in Hollywood.
"A collection of rays of hope" is a talented, masterfully executed work of cinema, sincerely convincing us to try to look for our rays, despite the state in which we are ...

Putting all the hope on the title of "My boyfriend is crazy", which is damn unexplained, localizers decided that this in some way will cause more interest in the film. But that's not at all true! The original "A collection of rays of hope" much brighter reflects the essence of this tape and this option would be much more adequate!
In the plot Pat/Patrick (Cooper), a guy who loves his wife very much and thundered thanks to her in a psychiatric hospital, after eight months leaves the walls of the hospital with a huge list of restrictions and prohibitions, his goal is to return everything to its own, but the people around him, parents (De Niro and Weaver), as well as old friends, see him only a psychopath, although the problems themselves have enough, and so everything, except a friend from the hospital Danny (Tucker), with their funny story. Pat meets Tiffany (Lawrence), who also has no less problems, but she still did not get to the hospital. They form a friendship and together they begin to look for ways to solve their problems.
This is about the middle of the film, I would like to stop here, since the usual melodrama begins, thereby the film seems to be divided into two, the first, interesting, about the meeting of two inadequate personalities and their difficult relationship, a film that I would like to see in a more expanded version. The second, a melodrama that stems from the relationship between all the characters, but loses everything that the film held from the beginning.
It would be worth focusing on Pat and Tiffany, the natural behavior of the mentally unstable, manners, habits, from annoying little things, to huge things in which everyone sees a way out of the situation, tough dialogue and no less harsh jokes, all these are the consequences of their mental trauma, this is what the film holds.
Play actors in the evaluation does not need, all the names speak for themselves. Good soundtrack. But another drawback, the movie was shown in the cinema with a voiceover translation, it is hoped that the DVD will correct this. And since there are few such films, watch It is still>>>>>!
Pat (Bradley Cooper) is crazy. Yes, yes, in the eyes of the public he is a completely insane, aggressive psychopath. Having once found his wife with a lover, he beats him to death, believing that he is absolutely right. After that, the legislature placed him in a psychiatric clinic for treatment and rehabilitation. But a loving mom (Jackie Weaver) takes her son home at her own risk because the home walls are known to be better than any medicine in the hospital. Returning home, Pat tries to rebuild his life and get his wife back, but accidentally a friend introduces him to his wife’s sister, Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who recently lost her husband. Her mental state is not ideal either. It is about the relationship between these complex people that this story tells.
The psychological state of an individual is very difficult to analyze. Everyone's different. Some are crazy relative to most people, while others are perfectly normal. The film deals with the problem of the inadequacy of modern society, the lack of perception of life with all its complexities. Is it normal for Pat’s father (Robert De Niro) to be superstitious and never stray from his beliefs? Or Pat's brother (Shea Wigham) who doesn't want to part with the title of beloved son? Or is Ronnie (John Ortiz) Pat's friend, who keeps everything to himself and can only vent anger in a garage where his wife doesn't see him? Or Nikki (Brea Bee) cheating on her husband in their bathroom? Tiffany, with his candor and recklessness, instills a new love in Pat, thanks to which he can forget his feelings for his wife and let her go. Live as you want, think what you want, love whom you want, and the world around you will become clear and simple.
Jennifer Lawrence did a great job as a straight-forward, unflappable Tiffany whose life principles defy psychological description. At the moment, this is by far her best role in a big movie. Bradley Cooper, more familiar to me comedy roles, also pleasantly surprised by his deep reading of the role of Pat, obsessed with his wife, because of what his life is about to collapse. Robert De Niro, not the first time playing the father of the family, again perfectly coped with the role in the measure of strict, but fair and caring dad. It was also nice to see Chris Tucker, whose comedic notes gave the film its uniqueness.
This is definitely one of the best films of 2012. Funny, thoughtful, thought-provoking, deep. Don’t judge people harshly – everyone has a chance for correction and a new life.

It is not in vain that I called the review in honor of the incomprehensible choice of a glorious translator-distributor, an unknown person (or group of people), who decided at the last moment (previously the translation of the name was correctly interpreted in our hire) to collect cash registers in such a cheap way as changing the title of the whole story.
Well, dear incognito, as they say, I send you a ray of goodness and forgiveness.
But let’s not distract from the very essence. The film turned out great, glorious, wonderful! I do not remember such bright pictures from the time of the not so long ago “Hotel Marigold”, where pensioners lived a new round of their second youth. Here we meet with a guy whose mind has become clouded due to his wife’s betrayal, for which he was sent to a psychiatric hospital (in Russia, for beating a lover, probably even a fine would not have been issued, given the harsh post-Soviet realities). The main character tries to be optimistic after a kind of “parole” release from a mental hospital (which is quite glimpsed to us as a quiet paradise), but others can not understand his desire to be himself. And what's amazing about acting is that all the characters are incredibly lively and interesting. It is difficult to characterize each person with one definition, something like: “And he is calm, loves carrots and solves arithmetic problems.” This is not observed here, because the characters of the characters are multifaceted, each quality does not outplay the other, which creates a feeling of some similarity between all the involved “psychos”.
From which it follows that tragicomedy clearly proves that each of us is a “fucking crazy” psycho. It may be superstition or long-standing pain, but we dare not deny the importance of such a mess for us, which affects our families and partly those around us. It was touching and pleasant to watch a little crazy people swirling around the person of the same abnormal Glavhero, and to understand that ...
As my faithful friend, with whom we watched a movie together, said, with a certain episode in the film begins to dominate the typical melodrama. I thought about her words, feeling a little different from my own thoughts. After that, I realized that the melodrama was all the time that had passed, but it was not shown sweetly, strainedly, banal, as is usually the case in romcoms. She did not become the head of the plot, but played a significant role: the entire experience of the main character (why did I not remember his name?) is already built on the vicissitudes of love. His acquaintance and subsequent relationship with Tiffany already look touching, so the creators of the picture decided not to stop there and justify the original name - "Collection of rays of hope." This was the hero, this was the film itself. Of course, when the romance played out in full force, it did not go unnoticed, and yet, unlike other films, it did not catch the eye, was flavored with excellent music (oh, this is what I really liked) and resembled old films in which two lovers will face the last test of mutual fidelity.
I’m not going to intrigue anymore, just to conclude that this is one of the best films at least this season. After viewing does not let go of the bright feeling of joy inherent only in good, high-quality paintings. And let us be crazy if we do not understand such an important detail!

A touching and almost incredible story about a man who loved his wife so much that he moved when he learned that she was cheating on him. On the one hand, yes, so sensitive and loving. On the other hand, no, I wouldn't want to be with a man who could go crazy for a woman. And if there is a misfortune, will he get into a corner and cry?
On the other hand, I wanted to talk not about the attractiveness of the character as a man, but about the film. Especially since at least one woman found him attractive - the sister of a friend's wife (yes, those complicated family relationships). And this very woman enters into a difficult and at first glance hopeless struggle for her love - and for his happiness, by the way.
In principle, the film is interesting. Interesting details of the manifestation of psychosis of the main character, not quite an ordinary girl Tiffany, whether really, or fakely survived an attack of existential nymphomania (by the way, a well-known fact in psychiatry - faced with the death of loved ones, many react to stress in this way), to put it mildly, a non-standard father performed by the still chic De Niro, in short, a full set of elements for an intellectual romantic drama.
But in my humble opinion, the happy ending has ruined everything. It seems that they didn’t even try to make it less pink-American, everything is so classic that even the epic “OK then!” from the mouth of Tiffany-Lawrence does not save him. If the finale had been left open, it would have been wonderful, but no. Although the film is still good, much better than most Hollywood stamped romcoms.
I remember the character of Anton Chekhov’s novel asking the doctor, “Who are psychos and who are normal?” So in this film it is difficult to single out the “normal” character.
Trailer. Trailer comedy, where characters with a mental illness, unlike others fall in love. This is bullshit! There's no comedy here.
Reviews of girls about what a romantic film about love, albeit strange. That's a lie too!
Yes, there are jokes in the movie. Jokes related to the way mentally unhealthy characters communicate with each other. But the theme of the film is quite different. A film about how difficult it is for these people in our world. How others treat them, how they treat others. And to those of you.
Yeah, there's love in the movie. Love is beautiful, strange, but honest. But she's not in charge. The theme of love is chosen as the theme for conveying the idea of the film. And the idea is how hard it is to live psychotics in our world.
The film would be as incomprehensible and strange as my review had it not been for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Bradley is a psychopath with a vain hope for good, and Jennifer is a psycho-pessimist. And they're playing pretty damn good!
Robert De Niro is also very pleased, but from him, after all, there is no less to expect, this is like Robert De Niro.
This is an unusual amazing movie, leaving after watching an unusual pleasant sediment. I think it's better to watch at home, not on the big screen.

It was under this title that it would be worth releasing the film in rental and the fees would be many times higher. But there will be a joke.
Despite the terrible translation of the film, in which they managed to confuse the illness of the main character, the movie as a whole turned out to be quite whole and cute. At least the director David O. Russell, after a rather ambiguous and overrated work The Fighter, left not the slightest doubt about his talent. You can argue a lot on this topic and prove to each other who is right and who is guilty, but it is impossible not to notice that critics too openly overstate the rating of his paintings. And if last year, to snatch two awards for minor roles at the Oscars managed, this year the chances of even one is almost no. And that's right, no matter what.
The romantic genre, in general, has long rotted in the trash and turned into a kind of monster that constantly tells vulgar jokes to everyone, and by the end of the dialogue begins to roar loudly and whine on your shoulder, from which you become not so much not on your own, but just disgusting. Works like the Silver Linings Playbook try to prove otherwise, but they lack teeth. In other words, the nails are close, not bite. The output still turns out to be a standard, but strong melodrama, which is pleasant to watch, but it is difficult to praise, since in addition to individual acting works and good dialogues, the movie is not much remembered.
The story that real psychos are much more adequate than ordinary citizens is not new, but even if you do not find fault with it, the idea is a priori debatable. First of all, we are all in our own psyche, just not everyone admits this, and even more so lies because of this in a mental hospital, and secondly, the main character easily manages to concentrate on something, and often just fixate, for one simple reason - he also has no more worries. This is not like the modern working man, who is home twice a week, and sleeps in total even less.

It's worth going, but be careful. Jennifer Lawrence is a goddess!
There is such a sad, but well-established tradition in mass cinema - to make films half-hearted, consisting of two different parts. In the first of them, as a rule, the director is given the opportunity to create freely, show the characters alive and interesting, direct events along previously unknown channels. But, at the moment when the time comes for the final chord, the decisive blow, the final maneuver, everything goes to dust. Behind the back of the director's chair, suddenly appear, as if rising from the very heat, sweaty people in costumes and with a bold inscription "Producer" in business cards. They know that they want to see the faceless “majority” and in which case they will gladly open their wallets, and in which they prefer to spend only Internet traffic. For the sake of these people, such “second halves” are removed, in which the value of dialogue approaches the level of sitcoms, the predictability of events resembles the next presidential election, and a sweet happy ending is inevitable, like New Year’s sales.
Exactly according to the above scheme and was spoiled by its creators the film “Silver Linings Playbook”. Defaced so thoroughly that “my boyfriend is crazy” – another projection of the sick minds of people who called the film so in the Russian box office, was very suitable for him.
But, as usual, at the beginning, troubles did not foreshadow anything. Before the eyes of the viewer appeared Patrick - clearly untreated patient of the psychiatric hospital, returning home, under the responsibility of parents, one of whom, incidentally, himself Robert De Niro. Patrick dreams of getting his ex-wife back, despite her excessive, albeit past, interest in history and its teachers. Thunder Hemmingway for his excessive pessimism, so much so that poor Ernest in the next world hiccuped more than once. And also makes De Niro remember the skills from “Mad Bull”, runs through the streets in a bag of garbage, spoils a dinner party with a crazy girl, etc. etc. etc. It all looks fresh and interesting, especially for the genre of comedy. In fact, in the first hour of the film, the humor in it is very unobtrusive and vital. That is, the events of the film are as ridiculous and absurd as our lives sometimes are, only with an increased degree of insanity.
Of course, there is no deep meaning, high morality, or great relevance in M.P.P., although many reviewers have succeeded. But why are they here? Great actors, interesting characters, original idea - what else do you need for a purely entertaining movie? Right! To keep the level taken to the end - what the filmmakers just failed. They set the bar too high from the beginning. In fact, otherwise, this review would never have come to light, and its author was not in the cinema, a few days later, to call the filmmakers to account for unjustified expectations.
So, that moment X, when the Men in Jackets apparently came into play, comes about 30 to 40 minutes before the end of the movie, somewhere after the scene with the fight in the stadium. From that moment on, “My Boyfriend Psycho” slows down dramatically, in order to eventually fall on the inevitable happy ending and fully justify its Russian name. Characters, instead of dialogue, begin to alternately arrange children's tantrums - so for some reason Americans traditionally see Conflict and Drama. Then, the narrative, before that deftly balancing on the verge of several genres, deafeningly falls into an indefinite style of a mess - here you and idiotic melodrama and sports drama and family comedy, and to top it all - also a kind of reference to some "Step Forward." Characters lose their individuality at once: Tifanni becomes a stereotyped bitch, Patrick is a stereotypical snot, the rest begin to play talking dummies. At once, the lightness and naturalness of humor disappears somewhere. Instead, the closer to the end, the more tortured and dumber the sharpness looks, just like situations clearly tailored for them.
The viewer is more searched in the last 40 minutes, will be able to literally physically feel the tension of the attempts of the creators as soon as possible to comb their film under the templates and conventions of the genre to which it was glued, like tape, the studio. As a result, another ambitious and interesting project is hopelessly screwed up. Yes, of course, his millions at the box office “Psycho Guy” will collect, just as in fans there will be no shortage. But will it remain in their memory? Hardly. As you know, the memory of a standard audience of comedies is slightly longer than that of a goldfish, with the difference that the fish has 5 seconds, and the viewer has until the next hit film, which will suspiciously resemble the previous ones. Which no one will ever remember.
The film begins with the fact that the main character, Pat, leaves the hospital on the condition that he will attend therapy. He is confident that he has solved his problem and intends to return his ex-wife. Returning home, the hero realizes that everything is not as bad as it could be – the demanding father is satisfied, the friend is ready to continue communication, and the wife is still free. Arriving for dinner with a friend, he meets Tiffany, a girl who survived the death of her husband. Both Tiffany and Pat are “crazy” in the eyes of society, but in fact everything is not so simple.
Jennifer Lawrence (Tiffany) - in my opinion, one of the best young actresses, I liked it even in "The Hunger Games" in this film showed itself not much worse. - played no worse, Jeninifer and Bradley played well together, looked great. I would also like to mention the chic game Robert De Niro and Jackie Weaver.
I want to say that the title "My boyfriend is crazy" absolutely does not fit the plot of the film, and it would be more logical to call it "A collection of rays of hope". Many come out of the cinema dissatisfied, because they are waiting for a romantic comedy, and get quite a serious drama.
I’ll be honest, I liked the film, but I’m not thrilled – for a very long time “swinging” the plot, the film is two hours, and interesting becomes somewhere in the middle. And yet I advise you to watch, endure the first minutes and you will definitely love and understand this film.

In our time, many people have already forgotten what hope means, everyone immediately gives up at the first failures. But this film helps people think about the fact that a person lives and everything around changes and that the past does not return you need to live in the present and do not chase the lost moments of life.
Thank you for the beautiful, fascinating story by David O. Russell. The film tells the story of two crazy people. One is trying to get his love back, and the other is trying to get rid of a vicious past.
The actors were amazed they did not play, but lived on the screen. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence just a delightful come out duet, but special respect, of course Jennifer, she really proved that she is a growing great actress and I'm sure her ' Oscars' it's a matter of time. All the feelings are so sincere that you can't and don't even want to believe that you're sitting in a movie theater. The script without a sharply twisted plot, but it will not let you take off the screen for a minute. It's a thought-provoking film.
Yes, the film is not only a drama, but also a comedy, there are really many funny episodes, there is not much vulgarity in this film and then it is inserted absolutely in meaning. This is not a stupid comedy, as young people might think after reading the title ' My boyfriend is crazy' in fact, this comedy would be more correct to translate as ' A collection of rays of hope' because the film really shows that if you strongly believe in something, hope, everything will work out.
As a result, the film justified the fact that it is the main contender for the Oscars 2012 & 39, at least for me. I advise everyone to watch this film and at least think about your life and the fact that you do not need to stir up the past, love and live in the present!!

P.S. Signs are everywhere, the main thing is to be able to see them.
Signs everywhere, the main thing is to be able to see them.
Excelsior is a diamond found on June 30, 1893 at the Jachersfontein mine in what is now South Africa. It weighed 971 3/4 carats (194.2 grams) and was the largest diamond ever found. "Excelsior" had excellent qualities, had a bluish-white hue.
"Collection of rays of hope" - threateningly declaring itself as the main romantic comedy of this year, undoubtedly, is such. If you look closely, here, even in the name itself, a special meaning is hidden, which looks more than it may seem at first glance. The picture itself, bypassing all sorts of cliches and cliches, being a completely new and clean product, thereby brings its ray of hope to modern cinema, which, finally, can come out of an endless sleep. Having drowned in recent years in the everyday life of the genre, and showing absolutely nothing new, and most importantly clever; this story opens your eyes to things that were previously overlooked, catching the viewer with something surprisingly warm and sincere. This picture is not just a ray of hope, and not even a collection, something more - it's Excelsior!
One day, returning home early, which Pat had never done before, catches his wife in the arms of another man. Naturally, our guy blows his head off and beats his lover half to death. After that, Pat finds himself in a psychiatric hospital, where he tries to reconsider his life again, somehow change himself, find the ray in life that will direct him to the true path. Since then, neither more nor less than eight months have passed, and our hero was taken home, for his correctional and educational term in the hospital has expired. Pat’s return to his parents’ house promised a lot of new and sometimes wildly strange adventures, which he had to experience, to test himself new, but the main thing is that fate gives him a second chance, in the form of acquaintance with sweet Tiffany. Life throws new signs, dashing turns, but if Pat can see this as his gift of fate, you will already know for yourself.
The picture itself is not at all simple, as it may seem at first glance. The story begins rather slowly, because of this, initially it was somehow not at ease. Then the picture begins to raise the degree, and you realize that such a beginning was simply necessary. Further, famously, departing from the canons of the genre and erasing all kinds of stereotypes, this seemingly ordinary story opens to us quite differently. Very pleasant, and most importantly convenient movie, which is easily digested and from which it will be difficult to break away. After all, we all love such stories: unusual, non-standard, but at the same time, when so correctly and skillfully, beaten, which sometimes causes a smile and great joy for the heroes, and this in our time is expensive.
A great contribution to the picture was made by acting, we can even say that everything depended on them, thereby I am simply obliged to mention them. Bradley Cooper played brilliantly, he gave something truly incredible. He is like a clenched fist of nerves and various emotions that can crack at any moment. His image catches and I want to believe that such roles he will only add. Jennifer Lawrence - plays above any praise, it is clear that she has already grown up and is ready for such roles, the good enthusiasm is not weak. Robert De Niro in the role of a loving father and passion for the sweepstakes, the hero turned out to be very comical and interesting, he is always in place. I also liked Chris Tucker - again it was not without dancing on his part, although I thought he would remember his youth, and then hold on.
The result, "A collection of rays of hope" is truly, if not chic, then very close to this picture. A very difficult movie, but if you manage to feel this message of the director, then I am sure you will be delighted. A movie that leaves behind a pleasant aftertaste, which is so rare in our time. Many people write about various nominations for the upcoming awards, one thing I will say – I am only for!

David O. Russell Silver Linings Playbook The Russian adaptation of the title of this film does not turn the tongue. “My boyfriend is crazy.”..a similar label is suitable for youth comedies devoid of meaning. For a drama, like this movie, you need at least hope in the title.
Silver Linings Playbook is a film about a guy who ends up in a mental institution for 8 months, after an unsuccessful collision in his home with his wife and her lover, part-time his colleague at work. At the end of the course, he moves in with his parents, one of whom is played by Robert Deniro, and tries to regain his life, wife, job. The main role in the film is played by Bradley Cooper, whom I have followed since the release of the series Inside the Actor & #39;s Studio with Robert De Niro, where he as a student asks his idol. Dreams come true. This is the second film where both actors are involved. Cooper is remembered by the general public for his comedy roles in “Bachelor in Vegas” and “Team A”, but it is in this film that he reveals his talent as a dramatic actor. He is contradictory, realistic, attracts attention. De Niro's performance is amazing. Hopefully done with the second-rate films he's been in lately, this movie makes us understand that there's still gunpowder in the gunpowder. He does not play pompously, not as his status as one of the best actors of modern Hollywood allows him. Separately, I want to note the main female role in this film - Jennifer Lawrence. Actresses playing a role in comedy is risky. A fine line between looking ridiculous and natural. In memory of only the game Goldie Hawn, who always managed to play with the elegance of the scene where her character gets into ridiculous situations. Lawrence didn't play for age, very dignified. In reality, she is about twenty, and in the film we see a woman who has already managed to be married for 3 years, lose her husband, get hooked on antidepressants and has a rich life experience. She is very good, harmoniously look in the frame without excessive Hollywood pollen. An episodic role for Chris Tucker that just couldn't go unnoticed. Time has no power over him, the feeling that he does not play, but just remains himself. The one with the dances I'm sure he suggested to the writers. “Dance like you’re black!” – who else could say that?
You enjoy watching the movie. The scene at the end of the film with the performance of the main characters you look with a smile, here is ready to laugh. It fills with hope that even crazy people find loved ones in spirit, it inspires. Enjoy your visit.
The film gave me a lot of emotions, feelings and hopes. I watched everything in one breath, and although the ending could be guessed, it was still very intriguing.
At first, the film seemed like nonsense, but as soon as Pat's friend told him about Veronica's sister, everything changed. It was very interesting to follow their relationship. I wouldn't say it's a comedy, it's a romantic drama, although there are a few bits of fun. For example, how the main characters discussed their 'medicines' that they took. The most incomprehensible to me was the behavior of the main character, why did he torture Tiffany so much if he fell in love with her at first sight? He was protecting her from all sorts of jerks, but why did he need Vicky? I'd die of jealousy if I were Tiffany. She tried her best to help him, and he just ignored it. I know he has a problem, etc. But it's not her fault. And why did he need Vicki, why? It is clear that she does not love him! For the rest of the movie, I was hoping she was dead. Well, of course it's true love, otherwise Tiffany would've just left him, and Pat probably stayed in the asylum. This film left a very deep impression on me.
': My boyfriend is crazy. The story of the optimist' is worth watching. Very good performance of actors, director. Most of all, I liked the game of Jennifer Lawrence, she very believably came into the role of crazy Pat. Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, of course, were at the top. A special atmosphere for laughter created by Chris Tucker with the history of his hair.
And finally, I wish I had that kind of love in my life.

More recently (at least in our country) began the rental of a film called "My boyfriend is crazy" (evil words in the direction of distributors is simply not enough; the original title in the title). The movie was great and I’ll tell you why.
Pat is a guy who spent 8 months in a mental institution because of an “incident,” as he calls it, that happened after he learned of his wife’s infidelity. However, even after returning from there, Pat continues to believe in the strength of his marriage and is positive in this regard. There is one problem - injunction, according to which he has no right to approach his wife.
Tiffany (Lawrence) - a girl who lost her husband and also "out of her mind", like Pat. Their meeting is fateful for both. I will not reveal all the secrets, you will see for yourself.
“A collection of rays of hope” is difficult to define for any particular genre, because there are elements inherent in comedy, but in general the film still gives certain sad notes. There is such an unofficial concept as “dramedy”. This is the best way to describe this book.
A film about unbalanced (if not to say mentally ill) people is hard to surprise the viewer, because there were a huge number of beautiful films on this topic ( "Rain Man", "Awakening", etc.), but " Collection ..." it succeeded. Looking at the relationship between these two “others” was very interesting. There is also humor from the director of the film, who showed that these “abnormal” are much more adequate than the people around them. The humor does not end there, the authors of the tape simultaneously ridiculed crazy fans, typical “happy” marriages and much more. But the film is not about that. It is about love, about hope, about the relationship between parents and children (a kind of generation gap, only with children over 30, instead of teenagers). This tape reminds us that you can not miss even the slightest chance in this life, if you feel that it is important to you, whether it is the unsaid words of love of a father for his son or the chance for the love of his life.
The film was very emotional, thanks to the great acting. Bradley Cooper’s ability to make the audience laugh was already seen in The Vegas Boy Party, where he also performed on a level, making the audience laugh at the top of their voice in some places. His partner on the set Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games, Winter Bone) was more responsible for dramatic elements, which she managed perfectly. This girl, by the way, who already has an Oscar nomination, will achieve a lot if she continues to work in the same spirit as she is now. Maybe I’ll hurry up a bit, but I’ll call it the best duet of the year. Duo Cooper-Lawrence was supported by an impressive background in the face of the ageless Robert De Niro, the notorious Julia Styles and returned to the cinema after 5 years comedian Chris Tucker, the same from the film "Rush Hour", if anyone does not remember.
It is impossible not to say that the soundtrack in the film was answered by the great Danny Elfman ( "Big Fish", "Harvey Milk"). His work complemented and decorated the overall magic of the painting. Who would doubt it?
A few words about the technical side of the picture. Very pleased with the camera work. The operator made curious transitions during the conversations of the main characters, sharp “hits” on faces or on specific elements were also to the place. For this film, it is a small thing, but very pleasant.
You can talk about this film for a very long time, but it is best to go to the movies while it is still on the big screens. Believe me, this bright, positive, surprisingly kind and sad film is worthy of your attention.
To understand madness, you have to be crazy yourself.
Sliver Lining's Playbook, for a long time I was not so impressed by the movies, everything is fine here, starting from the absolutely wonderful game of actors, which by the way there are a great many for every taste, it is worth especially noting Jennifer Lawrence (I love her, she plays just amazing and her appearance is beyond any praise because she is not like everyone else, but purely like an ordinary simple girl), who coped as usual with a hurrah and even higher, Bradley Cooper also does not lag behind, as pleases De Niro’s eye, well complements the picture suddenly Chris Tucker, has not seen him for a long time, but he does not like Chater, but he is madly pleased with Chater.
It is also worth noting the excellent Soundtrack, Danny Elfman coped 100%, the only thing worth noting is the music was selected from already written songs, i.e. he wrote nothing of his own there, but this is not necessary in this particular case. The plot is also on top, a kind of skirmish between two heroes of psychopaths, and the madness is very naturally shown and played, and what is most beautiful, everything is crazy here in one way or another. I think it's super from the beginning to the credits, but it's IMHO, of course, maybe for some people it's a little long in the end, like my friend, but I like everything. You can drive girls, faint-hearted, pregnant and other individuals - the film is aimed at any audience except cattle of course, but for them I don't know what will work, only if what Nightingale Robbers and other Lincolns against Wompers.
All in all, that’s great, more movies like that!

Hope is a strange feeling. The antithesis of common sense. Sometimes it breathes additional strength into us, and sometimes it just prevents us from taking a sober look at the essence of things. We use it to justify rash actions, and drive it away when it can be a decisive argument in making a serious decision. You can reasonably assess the ghostly chances of some event, but do not cease to hope. And you can, for example, lose hope for something, give up, but only in order to a moment later this very “something” to find. Why do we hope? And why does the loss of hope lead to despair, while for others it is only a path to insight? Too many questions. Everyone answers them based on their own experience. One thing is certain: hope is a strange feeling. And this film is the best way to answer these questions.
"Collection of rays of hope", this is the real name of the new film by David O. Russell, which our Russian distributors called no other than "History of the Optimist". My boyfriend is crazy. This tape has already made a lot of noise, well, at least to begin with the fact that many already predict her nominations for the Oscars, praise the inimitable performance of actors and congratulate David O. Russell with another success in his filmography. That’s why the movie is worth watching.
In itself, the film is very relevant, and how else, it is about love, friendship, the relationship between parents and children who have long grown up, the difficulties of life, the obstacles that sometimes so often meet on our way and how to find yourself in this world and your place. And it is commendable that one film was able to take on so much good and instructive, sincere and very skillful to reveal each of the topics raised by itself. All this is unoriginal, but the way it is presented to the viewer has the most unusual provision. The main thing here is no moralizing, long reasoning and reflection on these topics, but at the same time it helps to understand them, to think. "A collection of rays of hope" is very easy to perceive and understand everything that happens in the film. Taking such genres for the film as drama and comedy, the creators made a sure and lasting step. Thanks to this, the film turned out to be somewhere tragic, somewhere funny and hilarious, which changes the form of perception of the film during its viewing. If we talk about the overall impression of the picture, it is indescribable, delightful. I could not even imagine for a second that this picture would suggest something so encouraging, worthwhile and impressive.
The narration in the film begins slowly with a slight enthusiasm and deepening into the story of the main character. His wife cheated, and he's got music from their wedding. How can you not open your hands from despair and despair, when your beloved woman cheats on you without remorse? And after that, he is hidden in a psychiatric hospital with such an unbearable load on his heart and with the hope in his heart that everything will work out and will be as before. How can we be in such a situation? Many would despair and leave everything as it is, others would try to forget, few like the main character of the film Pat would continue to fight, defend their beliefs and go to their assigned goal.
Speaking about the characters of the film, they turned out to be quite diverse, well thought out, revealing their characters in detail and reliably embodied on the screen. Each of them has its own mindset and its own special desires, aspirations and views, internal motivation, psychological subtleties that manifest themselves throughout the film, which is very interesting to observe from the outside. Throughout the film, I had to empathize with the characters, sympathize and rejoice with them more than once. Their actions were sometimes unpredictable, which allowed to unfold the events of the film in an uncertain direction.
The cast of the film is definitely another of the merits of this film. Here, the acting helped the film rise, open up. What Bradley Cooper's /i> has, what Jennifer Lawrence has got particularly bright highlighting images. “A collection of rays of hope” I have been waiting for a long time, and in particular because of Cooper, who plays the main role here. And once again, he surprises me. Lawrence grew up, both herself and in terms of acting and reincarnation. I remember her from The Hunger Games and I look at her here - she's completely different. Of course, in addition to this unforgettable screen pair, there is the famous Robert De Niro, who, as always, is good and unforgettable, the Oscar nominee Jackie Weaver and Chris Tucker, who almost fell in love with his character.
If you analyze the film into small pieces, then each of these particles will be with a soul. Each of them will be filled with life. And by putting them all together, you get a real look. “The collection of rays of hope” like a litmus test exposes all the difficulties of our life path. I am very happy to have seen this picture. She is sincere, soulful, humane, honest and truthful with her viewer. And it's priceless!
The friend persuaded to go to the movies for the new film “My boyfriend is crazy” (very, by the way, free interpretation of the title). She wanted to see Bradley Cooper’s new movie. With a little resistance, I agreed. I have no regrets.
The film is about a guy who is desperately trying to get his beloved wife back and decides to improve, become an optimist, an athlete, a dancer, or anything. A film about hope, but I would say about determination, belief in victory. Maybe it's the same thing, though. And the girl. Quite an extraordinary person who dances, gets drunk, runs, and in between classes does not like the local football team, but strangely knows everything about it. What will happen to these heroes? Will they find themselves? Maybe they will. How about we stay the same? Is there any hope for drowning?
The film does not shine especially bright colors, beautiful landscapes or at worst a variety of houses or interiors. Apparently, the budget did not allow them anything more than a house and a room in a house in the backyard. For some reason, I thought that after the meeting of the main characters there would be more colors, the plot would rush with the speed of clouds driven by the wind, but this did not happen. Although it would be logical, the director decided otherwise.
All the actors behaved according to the title of the film – strange and psychotic. At the end of the day, they look more like people. Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) doesn’t smudge other people’s shirts with his makeup, and Pat (Bradley Cooper) doesn’t run around in a garbage bag. Danny (Chris Tucker), who tried every possible way to get out of the hospital, brought his share of humor, and still got there again. But what smiled most was when Pat’s father (Robert De Niro) and his friends ran to a dance contest and stood in a semicircle by the arena. Then they are insanely similar to Don Carleone and his mafia.
In general, the film is firmly on its feet and can safely receive
This film is as heterogeneous as these two quotes. The first is a practical guide to getting out of depression, and the second ... and the second is not really important.
Here's what matters. This movie made the audience cry and laugh. Somewhere near the end, during the kitchen scene, I caught myself thinking that it hadn’t been more than a minute before I could hear the audience laugh.
Not to say that some scenes were not tiresome, but unlike say ' Casino Robbery' where we saw that dialogue with eminent actors can be brought to absurd boredom, here such scenes were smoothed out with humor.
It's a bit predictable, but it's a nice movie about us crazy people. Of course, the title was not picked up by a lot, it seems that the film is for girls, and not. The film is primarily for those who love good movies, with a wonderful actress who shocked us in 'The Hunger Games' and a depressive actor from 'The Fields of Darkness'.
I do not recommend watching the film proudly alone, it is not so easy, causes an unpleasant residue in the form of ' happiness that you need to share with someone'.
“You can’t understand a psycho unless you’re a psycho.”
The poster may give the impression that “My boyfriend is crazy” is another cute, but spitty and primitive romantic comedy, which may be entertaining, but is unlikely to leave a mark on the soul. But the film unexpectedly begins not very rosy and positive: the main character comes out of a psychiatric hospital, where he got for the brutal beating of an elderly lover of his young wife. His condition leaves much to be desired: he easily breaks down and behaves unpredictably, but he is determined to change his life for the better, recover from the disease and return his wife, with whom he thinks he has a “great” love. The first part of the film, before the appearance of the heroine Jennifer Lawrence, is quite monotonous and even depressed, but after meeting the characters, everything gradually begins to change.
Pat (Bradley Cooper) is unbalanced, irritable and often whines nonsense. Tiffany (Jenniver Lawrence) experienced a great loss, and on the basis of stress behaved not in the most pious way, as a result, in the district she is considered a slightly crazy girl of very light behavior.
This film tells the story of two people on whose way of life there were many difficulties that could break another. However, both Pat and Tiffany show tremendous fortitude and desire to change. Inspired by the dream of getting his wife back, Tiffany is eager to find a friend with whom to build a simple human relationship. And their relationship, which began as a mutually beneficial deal, develops into an amazing, exciting and very real love story. I didn’t expect the last half-hour of the movie to make me feel so bad about the characters. And from the final scene run goosebumps and smile involuntarily does not come off the face.
“My Boyfriend is a Psycho” is an extraordinary film about love. The film, in which life is not embellished, but just like in the novel Hemingway, which Pat reads, appears very cruel and full of problems in the relationship of spouses, brothers, parents and children. But it is not for nothing that the original title of the picture contains the phrase “Silver Linings” – which means the very “ray of light” in which the main character believes. Love bursts into the lives of heroes, illuminates it, fills it with meaning. And unlike the aforementioned novel, the director gives the characters a chance to become happy and leaves hope in our hearts: no matter how bad things are, such a miracle as love still happens.
Only a madman like this can understand my madness. .
This is really a collection of hopes for people who have a difficult fate, a complex character or a mental originality. Going forward, not giving up, working on yourself. It's all beautiful. But not every person can meet on his way a helper, similar and close in spirit. Here we are shown another romantic story, which, unfortunately, so few in real life. But does this mean that it is worth giving up, not fighting for your family and your dream, if the people around you are just “other”? They're neither good nor bad. They're different. Worth fighting. And even if you can not find your romantic soul mate, you should work on what you are given. You should appreciate this, you should work on yourself and try to find yourself in everything possible. The actors played wonderfully, the film catches, the plot does not leave indifferent. But... Only 9. For the fact that all the tragedy of human struggle washed away by another fantastic-romantic tale. That's not always possible. But that doesn’t mean you have to despair if you’re different. Put your character in the right direction. And there will be happiness.
An incredible balance of excruciating post-psychiatric drama and funny psychopathological romcom
I know the world is cruel and it will attack me again and again. I know there will always be a part of me that can’t be cleaned. But I will do my best to stay positive and God will give me a chance.
The hardest honest description of bipolar disorder, divorce from his wife, discharge from a madhouse and getting along with relatives turns into a touching cheerful romcom. This is a playbook, a scheme of action to socialize through friendship and love. Instructions on how to make poor people a little happier. Director David O. Russell thanks to the chemistry of two cool actors Bradley Cooper and Jenniffer Lawrence made the drama-textbook touching romcom of the year, revealing a new benchmark of humanistic drama. Without reducing the dramatic heat, he manages to simultaneously make the viewer laugh. This becomes possible if the director talks to the audience honestly, without mentoring, really empathizing with the characters and engaging the audience in genuine empathy.
I didn't immediately recognize Jenniffer Lawrence. How did the twenty-one-year-old actress manage to convincingly play a teenager in the Hunger Games and a thirty-year-old divorced grandmother in My Boyfriend is Psycho in one year? What can I say? Well done.
This film has already won audience awards at four film festivals. During the session around the hall, ten times whispered “The movie is awesome!” I can only say one thing from myself: it is something at the level of 1 + 1 or even higher.

I saw the trailer 4 days before the premiere. “This is another American comedy,” I thought. I wanted to watch the trailer again and then again. I decided to go to the movies.
And what I saw:
- The story is interesting, even from the first minute you realize that this is not a stupid American comedy. The first part of the film you are completely immersed in the life of a mentally ill person. Get to know him, his family, his past. And then a miracle happens, as if by chance there is another "not quite healthy" hero - Tiffany. I fell in love with this character at first sight because it is impossible not to fall in love with her. Then comes the development of the relationship between the main characters ... and, God, how these events unfold! You just sit there and smile and watch them.
- The actors are unsurpassed! Jennifer Lawrence was especially pleased. This is an amazing actress, and ahead of her is a huge success.
The actors got so used to the role, so well played, that sitting in the room, you can not doubt that watching two mentally ill. Bravo!
- Overall, the film was made well... There is a place to laugh, there is a place to worry... and it looks amazingly easy. I loved the dance, especially the last one!
In the end, I am very happy to see this movie. I got a lot of positive emotions. And now I know I'd love to go again, I'm afraid I can't wait for a license.
I’m going to watch this movie a dozen times and make everyone see it.
I would like to start with the fact that to send a wave of negativity to those who adapted the name of this tape in “My boyfriend is crazy”. I’m a marketer myself and I understand that to attract a larger audience, you need a sonorous name. But that's too much. A collection of rays of hope is a kind, cute and beautiful title for the film, which initially hints that it is not the standard romantic comedy that everyone is used to seeing. First, it’s a drama, and second, it’s a comedy. The wrong message that gave the name to the viewer resulted in the fact that many, after watching twenty minutes, got up and left the hall.
Pat had a nervous breakdown when he caught his wife with a lover, who was then severely beaten. He was placed in a mental hospital for eight months. Tiffany recently lost her husband and also became “slightly” out of her mind. And they may be mired in their problems and psychoses, but they can become rays of hope for each other. Do not expect when watching that you can “turn off” the brain and just watch the movie. No, on the contrary, you need to turn it on and let it work at all possible capacity to become the one who really understood this tape, and not the ones who did not understand anything, walked out of the room with the words “What nonsense...”. This film can be safely attributed to the genre of independent cinema. There is no sweetness that the mass film industry tries to bring to almost every picture, there is no predictability, that is, I did not know in advance how this or that scene would end. In ordinary and uncomplicated romantic stories, we already know in advance what will happen after the characters meet, when they quarrel and when they reconcile. There are hundreds of stamped storylines, and not everyone can and will be honest with each other, not everyone wants to come up with something new. I will return to my favorite collection. If you divide the movie by percentages, it’s 80 percent drama, 15 percent comedy and only 5 percent romance, but the last small percentage is so cute that it’s so fun. The picture is full of emotions, experiences, outbursts of anger. And love, of course. Devastated from the inside, the characters try to live with this emptiness, but each time they come to a dead end. When they meet each other, they have a chance to fill this wasteland. They do it in a peculiar way. I was very much looking forward to a dance competition where the heroes were to take part. Yeah, that was great. Even in the dance, they showed their originality. What did the creators want to say? It must be that we are all a little “that,” and the notion of normality is very relative, that in every situation there is a glimmer of hope, the main thing is not to be a stubborn blind man and notice it, and that even the most insane people fall in love.
I loved Jen Lawrence before the Hunger Games. She's wonderful. So emotional, warlike and touching. Watch "Winter Bone" with her. Bradley Cooper was pleasantly surprised. It was difficult for me, to be honest, to imagine him as a psycho, but he played perfectly. Chris Tucker has not lost his charisma over the years. He didn’t have much screen time, and still his character is definitely remembered.
A collection of rays of hope is a drama with elements of comedy and a pinch of romance. It’s not a movie for “mass consumption,” so to speak. I do not want to offend anyone, but the fact is on the face. Not everyone will understand, not everyone will watch in the end. If you are looking at it, look at it. If not, then you will lose the opportunity to enjoy the painting, which won the audience award at the festival in Toronto. That means something.
A young guy who went crazy after he caught his wife with a lover. His father plays the sweepstakes and is convinced of the magic of the superstitions that bring him victory. A friend of his father, a neighbor who shares his father’s interests. A friend who beats the walls in the garage to the music of Metalica. A common friend moved after the death of her husband. Any event that occurs leads to a general panic and can wake up the entire quarter and only the mother looking at the whole picture with joy and simultaneous pain in the eyes looks mentally healthy.
The film contains a lot of “white” humor almost does not fall below the belt in spite of modern trends. Those appearances of the “black” guy from the hospital always made me laugh, especially amid the general madness he said the most adequate arguments that speak about his psychological health from a legal point of view.
The picture plunges us into this madness and the longer you watch, the more logical reasons appear for the actions that the characters commit.
All the characters make efforts to achieve their own goals and for this they have to use not quite "normal" environment and only Tiffany sincerely loves.
At the beginning, you get the feeling that all the characters are “out of their minds”, but you leave the hall with the feeling that the heroes are the most adequate people in the world.
