British actor Jeremy John Irons was born in the town of Coase on the Isle of Wight on September 19, 1948, in the family of an accountant. Perhaps Britain lost a good vet and jockey then, but in return she (and the whole world) got a talented actor, winner of Oscars and Golden Globes for the role of Klaus von Bulow in the drama Barbet Schroeder’s “Inside of Destiny”.
Jeremy Irons began his career as an assistant, head of the stage part, and then, enrolling in acting courses at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre, he became a member of the troupe and outplayed the entire Shakespearean repertoire in three seasons. In 1971, the actor moved to London, where he continued his acting career in the West End Theatre and television. His work in the television series “Return to Brideshead” based on the novel by Evelyn Waugh brought the actor first popularity, and cemented the success of the role of Charles Smithson in the melodrama by Karel Reisch “Woman of the French Lieutenant”. In this adaptation of the novel of the same name, Fowles Irons performed in a duet with Meryl Streep, embodying the image of an impeccable gentleman hiding a raging fire of passions under a strict mask.
In 1984, Jeremy moved to America, making his Broadway debut in the musical The Real Thing, and began acting in Hollywood. Our viewer Irons is well known not only for the film “The Otherside of Destiny”, which became the peak of his acting career, but also for the roles of Humbert in “Lolita”, the terrorist Simon Gruber in the action movie “Die Hard 3: Retribution”, Charles Swan in “Love of Swan” and Rodrigo Borgia in the television series “Borgia”.
The actor is married to Irish actress Sinead Moira Cusack, who bore him two sons – Samuel James in 1978 and Maximilian Paul in 1985.
