Yuliy Yurievich Karasik was born on August 24, 1923 in Kherson. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1977). In 1942-1946 - cadet of the military school in Tashkent. He studied on the philological torch of the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute, at the acting school at Lenfilm (the workshop of L. Heifitz and A. Zarkhi). His painting “Wild Dog Dingo” won the Golden Lion and the Golden Branch at the Venice Film Festival in 1962. Filmed by the director in 1970, the Seagull based on the play by A.P. Chekhov received the Silver Hugo prize at the Chicago Film Festival as the best adaptation of a classic work and for the skill of the acting ensemble. Yulia Karasik’s historical film The Sixth of July (1968) won a special prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
