One of them - "I walk in Moscow" - he, according to the recollections of witnesses, wrote right on the set of the film of the same name according to his script. Fate did not treat him too carefully - Shpalikov was often unlucky. Several of his films, highly regarded by experts, were unsuccessful at the box office or censorship. Erik Nietzsche is an intelligent but in many ways inexperienced shy young man who is convinced that he wants to be a film director. In the late 1970s, Erik is accepted by the Danish National Film School where he enters a world of angry and unhelpful tutors, weird fellow students and unwritten rules. In this both exhilarating and angst-provoking period for him, Erik feels increasingly like a foreigner in the film industry. Frequently, he is merely an observer of the absurdities that surround him. He encounters trade union disputes, falls in love and experiences self-assured empowered women who refuse to make a commitment. The film is a drama full of comedy - a sharp portrait of a conceited but entertaining world of film which we suspect our dogged young director will eventually conquer with his vision. close

Vienna, 1813-1819: Beethoven (played by Donatas Banionis) is at the peak of his fame. Orchestras all over the world play his music, but he lives modestly and is dependent upon private patrons. Nagged by his patronizing brothers, spied upon by officials for his republican beliefs and faced by his progressive hearing loss, the composer becomes more and more isolated. Seeman’s poetic film explores the joys, heartbreak and artistic spirit of the great composer as he works on his Ninth Symphony. close

There he meets Greta, bartender at a Bohemian cafe, who teaches him the Kama Sutra, the naked Esther, who reads him stories, and Thérèse, his wife for three years. They split after two children; he moves to a small flat, writes pornography to pay the bills, works sporadically on a novel, espouses anarchism, and meets more women. His self-confidence grows. close

In 1985, a three-part television biopic “Sophia Kovalevskaya” about the life of the first woman in Russia who became a corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences was released on television.
The great Russian mathematician Sophia Kovalevskaya lived a short but bright life. She was only 40 years old (born in 1850, died in 1891), but during this time there were many dramatic events.
Everything was against her professional choice and desire to go on a scientific path. Mathematics is still considered a “male science”, which requires a special mindset that is not characteristic of a woman. But if today the teacher of mathematics in school can be an object of admiration and respect, then a century and a half ago, society imposed an unspoken taboo on the lessons of the weaker sex in mathematical science. And Sophia Kovalevskaya broke this blockade. For a scientific career, she had to solve not only complex mathematical problems, but also life problems. In this list there is even a sham marriage, which gave the opportunity to get a good education abroad.
The pages of the mother’s biography are leafed through by the daughter of Sofia Kovalevskaya, on whose memoirs the plot of the biographical tape is built. The film contains four episodes from the real history of Sofia Vasilyevna, when she was engaged in commerce with her husband, and then broke with him and became the first female academic in tsarist Russia.
Working on a painting
The dramaturgy of the script by Dmitry Vasiliu and Boris Dobrodeev is based on the attempts of Sophia Kovalevskaya’s daughter to figure out who her mother was outside of science and social activities. The female image of the great scientist in the film was recreated by young Elena Safonova. Her partners in the film were excellent actors Aristarkh Livanov (Maxim Kovalevsky), Yuri Solomin (Prince), Ivar Kalnynsh (Victor Jaclar), Elena Solovey (Anna Jaclar), Alexander Filippenko (Fyodor Dostoevsky), Lembit Ulfsak (Leffler), Algimantas Masiulis (Carl Weierstras) and others.
The film was shot at the film studio “Lenfilm” by the Leningrad director Ayan Shakhmaliyeva (in 1956 she received a diploma of the directorial faculty of VGIK, a graduate of the creative studio of Lev Kuleshov).
The music was written by Isaac Schwartz.
In 1985, the biographical tape of Soviet filmmakers “Sophia Kovalevskaya” was awarded the Main Prize at the International Festival of Multi-Series Television Films in Pianchano Therma (Italy). close
