Natasha Richardson, an English and American theatre and film actress, was born on May 11, 1963 in London. Her mother, actress Vanessa Redgrave, and father, director Tony Richardson, were closely associated with theater and cinema. Brothers and sisters, father and mother, followed in the footsteps of their parents. Natasha Richardson is a hereditary actress from the English Redgrave dynasty. She grew up and was brought up in an atmosphere of theater and film art. No wonder she made her film debut at the age of five. It was a cameo role in her father's film Attack of the Light Cavalry (1968, directed by T. Richardson).
The first theatrical and stage experience came to Natasha Richardson in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (the role of Helena) and in Hamlet (the role of Ophelia). A landmark for her stage career was 1986, when she won the audience in the role of Nina in Chekhov’s Seagull. And for her role in the musical “Cabaret” she received in 1998 the Tony Award. Then, in the 80s, she starred in several television series. In addition to numerous theatrical roles Natasha Jane Richardson starred in 35 films, the last was the film “Wild Child” (2008, the role of Mrs. Kingsley).
Natasha Jane Richardson was married twice. Her first husband was producer Robert Fox. After the wedding, they separated two years later, in 1992. From her second marriage (1994) to actor Liam Neeson, she gave birth to two sons, Michael Richard Antonio Neeson (1995), and Daniel Jack Neeson (1996).
The life of the famous theater and film actress ended tragically. Just two months before her 46th birthday, Natasha Jane Richardson died on March 18, 2009 in Montreal’s Sacré-Coeur Hospital from a traumatic brain injury on March 16, 2009 in the Canadian ski resort of Mont Treban (Quebec). She was buried next to the famous English theater actress Rachel Kempson (1910-2003), her famous grandmother. /
