Mathematics is still considered a “male science”, which requires a special mindset that is not characteristic of a woman. But if today the teacher of mathematics in school can be an object of admiration and respect, then a century and a half ago, society imposed an unspoken taboo on the lessons of the weaker sex in mathematical science. And Sophia Kovalevskaya broke this blockade. For a scientific career, she had to solve not only complex mathematical problems, but also life problems.
