After graduating from the Institute in 1958, he began to work at the Research Institute of Plastic Masses Junior as a researcher, later became the deputy head of the laboratory of automation of technological processes. He held senior positions in the Experimental Design Bureau for Automation under the Ministry of Chemical Industry, the Scientific and Production Association "Neftekhimavtomatika", and in 1986 he was appointed head of the Department for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. June 6, 1992 Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov was appointed mayor of Moscow, due to his reputation as a strong businessman and strong manager. He was subsequently re-elected four times.
Yuri Luzhkov wrote and published more than 200 works on the problems of socio-economic development of Russia, has patents for more than 50 inventions: "Device for the extraction of gel-like concentrate in the processing of hydrocarbon oils", "Method of photodisinfection of water", "Method for the production of aluminum chloride", "Method for the analysis of multicomponent gas mixtures" and many others. /
