The appearance in the Russian literary space of such a phenomenon as writer Zakhar Prilepin (real name - Yevgeny Nikolaevich Prilepin; another pseudonym - Yevgeny Lavlinsky) is quite natural. Because he is a native of the Russian hinterland, the son of ordinary intellectuals, a person who participated in local military conflicts - is only the expression of the thoughts and feelings of a significant part of the 35-year-old generation.

He was born in 1975 in the village of Ilyinka, in the Ryazan region. He received his education at the philological faculty of Nizhny Novgorod State University, and also graduated from the so-called “School of Public Policy”. Before coming to literature, he “went to the people”: he was a loader in a bread shop, a security guard, a commander of the OMON branch, participated in hostilities in Chechnya in 1996 and 1999. In 1996 he joined the National Bolshevik Party and in 2007 participated in the March of Dissenters in Nizhny Novgorod. He is the editor-in-chief of the Nizhny Novgorod Political News Agency and directs Novaya Gazeta in Nizhny Novgorod. In addition, since July 2009, he has been leading the program “No Place for Old Men Here” on the PostTV channel.
His first publications were published in 2003 and, like most aspiring writers, he first published in “thick” magazines: “Friendship of Peoples”, “Continent”, “New World”, “Art of Cinema”, “Roman-Newspaper”, “North”. Today, his books are leading in the bestseller ratings: the novel "Sankya" has repeatedly been included in the shortlists of the awards "National Bestseller" and "Russian Booker", was awarded the award "Clear Polyana", was named "Best Foreign Novel of the Year" in China and translated into Chinese, Polish and French. The silver medal of the Bunin Prize was awarded to the book "TerraTartarara: This concerns me personally", published in 2009, his novels "Sin" and "Pathology" also brought great popularity to the writer. Zakhar Prilepin himself claims that the total circulation of his works is a quarter of a million copies, and in relation to colleagues in the literary department, the writer is very critical: We have one multimillion writers in Russia, his name is Akunin, and perhaps even Pelevin. Those who have sold millions of books are not writers. And those we pass in schools, sell 15-20 thousand books.
Zahar is married and has four children. His formula for success is expressed in three words: “Patience, humility and consistency.”
