Bruce Robinson, the famous actor of Great Britain, was born in Broadsters (Kent County, England) in 1946. From the age of eleven, still a schoolboy, he began to take part in student performances: even then Bruce was sure that he wanted to become an actor.
Bruce Robinson entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, from which he graduated in 1967. Just a year later, he made his debut in the film Romeo and Juliet. When the filming of this outstanding picture ended, Bruce returned from Italy to London, and in the same 1968 he was involved in the production of Edward Bond’s “Early Morning” at the Royal Court Theatre. The year for Robinson was fruitful: in the 68th, along with his colleague on Romeo and Juliet, John McAnery and his brother Peter, Bruce played in David Hart’s film Sleep is Lovely / The Other People.
Further work of Bruce Robinson was associated with the music of Tchaikovsky: in 1970 he played in the film dedicated to this great composer "The Music Lovers". Then, in 1971, there was the film Private Road (directed by Barney Platts-Mills).
Another famous project in which Robinson participated, "The Story of Adele G", which also played Isabel Adjani. This film is dedicated to the daughter of the writer Victor Hugo, her feelings for the English Lieutenant Elbert Pinson, played by Bruce. After that, for the actor came dark times: Robinson lived for several years on welfare, not being involved in movies, and then began to write scripts and direct films.
In this regard, Robinson's employee was David Putnam (the film "Fields of Death"). The project was so successful that Bruce Robinson became an Oscar nominee, received awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Many of Robinson’s films repeat his biography. In cinema, it is a picture of Wisnail and I (USA, 1987) and in literature - the book "The Peculiar Memories of Thomas Penman" (1998). In the first year of the new millennium, another book was published, which Bruce was involved in: a collection of interviews called "Smoking in bed: Conversations with Bruce Robinson."
Over the years, Bruce Robinson has created many scripts, in addition, he directed several films: How to succeed in advertising, Jennifer Eight, Rum Diary.
The actor, director and screenwriter are not all of Robinson’s creative characters. He can be considered a children's writer, as he wrote two children's books in 2000 and 2005. Robinson is the father of two adorable children (Lily and Willow). Together with his wife and children, Bruce Robinson lives in London and still communicates with partners in the film Romeo and Juliet - Leonardo Whiting and John McAnery. /
