One of the most famous Soviet and Russian film and theater directors Sergey Mikaelyan, who later became a People's Artist of the RSFSR and a winner of the State Prize, could easily die on the battlefield. Then, near Rzhev, the wounded nineteen-year-old Mikaelian was saved by a miracle - the Germans did not reach the young man lying in the bushes fifty meters.
He was born in Moscow in 1923. After demobilization, he was sent to work for ZIL. He worked and felt great joy at being alive; in those years this feeling was familiar to many front-line soldiers. Once he met with his fellow soldier B. Bodrov, who studied at GITIS and, following his example, entered the same institute. In that year, B. Zahava decided to recruit newcomers, "unspoiled by all sorts of stamps", and teachers A. Popov, M. Knebel and K. Warriors taught them the basics of the profession. GITIS was completed in 1951, after which Mikaelyan acted as director in the theaters of Saratov and Gorky, and in 1954-1956 served as chief director of the Tashkent Russian theater named after M. Gorky. When he decided to change his place of work, he received fifteen proposals at once, one of which was from the Leningrad Theatre named after the Leningrad Leningrad Soviet. But he decided to go to study at the Higher Directing Courses, which were opened at Mosfilm. After that, Mikaelyan was invited to the Gorky film studio, and then moved to work for Lenfilm.
His debut work became
film "Colorful pebbles" , which was published in 1960, was followed by the pictures "Accepting the Fight" and

Sometimes, in order to make another film, the director had to use a real "military" trick. That's what happened.
Prize The filming of which by decision of the high authorities had to be suspended. But one of the main performers of this film was to be Evgeny Leonov, who was engaged at that time in the shooting in Riga, and Mikaelyan ordered his film crew to quietly leave for Latvia in the hope that it would not be so easy to withdraw the group from the expedition. As a result, this film was awarded the State Prize in 1976. Not easy to film and
film "Widows" But he was literally saved by Leonid Brezhnev - when there was a rumor that during the preview, the Secretary General "changed his headscarves wet with tears four times," the film authorities did not dare to cut out scenes seditious in their opinion from the film. But the most famous film made by Mikaelyan was
"In love of his own free will" . /
