Lead actor of the Mossovet Theater. Possessing a representative appearance, in the cinema he often starred in the roles of foreigners, historical figures, representatives of science or government.
Mikhail Pogorzhelsky clearly stated himself in one of his first works – the film by Konstantin Voinov “Three came out of the forest”, where he created a complex psychological image of Pavel Stroganov, a man who has taken a high position in society and who is suspected of betrayal after many years. In the serial film of Sergei Kolosov “Operation Trust” for the first time in Soviet cinema Pogorzhelsky created the image of General Wrangel not caricatured, as it was shown earlier, but endowed him with human qualities.
Throughout his career in cinema, Pogorzhelsky very often had to embody foreigners on the screen. Tom had bright external data of the actor, a slim figure and high height. Among the roles: von Salz in “Shield and Sword”, Raskoltsev in “The Labeled Atom”, Delassi in the detective “Fifty on fifty”, Koznakov in “Feedback”, Borisov in the historical and adventure film “The collapse of Operation Terror”. One of the last works of Mikhail Bonifatsievich in the cinema was the role of the Advisor in the post-perestroika detective “Bodyguard”.
Much more interesting and rich Pogorzhelsky worked in the Theater named after the Moscow Soviet, in which he faithfully served for forty-six years. He was married to actress Irina Kartasheva.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1966).
In 1947 he graduated from the Leningrad Theatre Institute and became an actor of the Leningrad New Theatre. Since 1949 - actor of the Mossovet Theatre in Moscow.
