Philip Edward Hartman was born on September 28, 1948 in Branford, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in Connecticut and southern California. He studied at the University of California, where he received a diploma of graphic artist. As an actor and screenwriter, Phil Hartman made his debut in 1975, joining the well-known Los Angeles comedy troupe The Groundlings, and in October 1986 began performing on the television show Saturday Night Live. In 1985, the actor first starred in the “big” movie, the first significant role he played in the comedy Michael J. Fox “Jadin”.
