In 1985, after completing high school, he moved to Los Angeles, enrolling in the writing faculty of the University of Southern California. There he met Adam Sandler, they shared an apartment. During and after training, he performed in the genre of stand-up, then began to compose jokes for other comedians. Judd met such actors as John Lovetz, Ben Stiller and
"Basketball fever" . Later, he became a director and independently shot films according to his own scripts.
Apatow is married to Leslie Mann, the couple have two children.
