Oliver spent most of his childhood in Asia and the Middle East. Oliver has gone through more than a dozen different schools. At the age of nine, Oliver visited the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where he watched a play that inspired him to study as an actor. While studying at Tufts University, which Platt graduated in 1983 with a bachelor's degree, he studies acting. After receiving a degree in drama, Oliver Platt began to work actively at the Boston Theater and takes part in off-Broadway productions of The Storm, The Moon Over Miami and Twelfth Night. For his role in the play “The Shining City”, Oliver Platt was nominated for the Tony Award in the prestigious category “Best Actress in a Leading Role”.
