Constance (her real name is Constance Cummins Halverstadt) was born in 1910 in Seattle, Washington. The girl dreamed of a scene since childhood, at the age of 18 she performed for the first time on Broadway. Here her game was seen by Sam Goldwin, who helped her get into Hollywood.
The period from 1931 to 1934 was very busy for Constance, she starred in twenty-one films, of which the most successful were films.
She then moved to England, where she played both in film and theatre. From the works of Cummings of this period, one should mention the film “Blithe Spirit”, based on the works of Noel Coward and the play “Long Day Goes into Night”, where the actress more than successfully played with Noel Coward. In England, Cummings was not just an actress, she was actively engaged in public activities and was a member of the Committee of the Royal Court Theatre and the Council of Arts.
In 1933, the actress married playwright and screenwriter Ben Levy. Their marriage lasted until 1973, when Ben died. Ben and Constance have two children – a son and a daughter.
