When Ray was eight years old, the family moved first to Lemington, and a little later to the small town of Crumlington, where he spent his childhood. Therefore, after graduation, Stevenson followed his second mental addiction - drawing, deciding to enter art school. For many years Ray gave his job - he worked as a designer in one of the offices of London, which was engaged in architectural development of urban buildings.
When Ray was twenty-five years old, he decided to make drastic changes in his professional life and try his hand at filmmaking. He enrolled in the theater school Bristol Old Vic, which he successfully graduated at the age of 29.
