John McGiver was born to Irish immigrants on November 5, 1913 in New York City. He studied at Columbia and Catholic universities and worked as an English teacher. During World War II he served as an officer in the 7th Armored Division of the U.S. Army in Europe. He began his stage career before the war at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York, while teaching English at Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx. John McGiver was born to Irish immigrants on November 5, 1913 in New York City. He studied at Columbia and Catholic universities and worked as an English teacher. During World War II he served as an officer in the 7th Armored Division of the U.S. Army in Europe.
He began his stage career before the war at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York, while teaching English at Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx.
For 20 years, from 1955 to 1975, a characteristic actor with a textured appearance and owl face, John McGeaver played more than a hundred roles on television and in movies, and also starred in a large number of commercials.
However, he made his debut in 1952 in the series Kraft Television Theatre. In 1957, John McGeever played five episodes. Then there were series "Series One", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and others. In the series, the actor starred until his death in 1975.
