George tried himself in different professions. For a while he taught, worked as a taxi driver, led discos, for a long time on the radio voiced productions until he got a job on Broadway. In 1957, he appeared on television, where he participated in the TV project “The Strange One” and starred in the series “Suspicion”.
George's debut in the big movie took place in 1960 in the film House on the Hill. In the same year, he starred in The Subterraneans, and in 1961 he starred in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Most often, Peppard starred in westerns and thrillers, where he played not always good cool guys. In 1962, in War in the Wild West, his partners were James Stewart, Gregory Peck, Henry Fonda. The following year, the actor returned to television and took part in the series Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre. At the same time, he starred in the film “Winners”.
Later, George Peppard played in many films, and in 1978, in between filming, wrote the script for the film Five Days From Home and worked on it as a director. The 70s and 80s, the actor spent on television, starring in TV series. The TV series "Team "A" with his participation had huge popularity among the audience.
The actor has been married several times. In 1954, at the age of 25, he married actress Helen Davis. From this union, son Bradford and daughter Julie were born. After ten years of marriage, the couple divorced. Two years later, George Peppard married actress Elizabeth Ashley, a film partner.
"Backbags" . The couple lived for six years and then separated. From this marriage, George had a son, Christian. The third time Peppard married in 1975 to actress Sherry Boucher. The marriage lasted four years and then broke up. Five years later, George remarried to Alexis Adams, with whom he spent two years. Such frequent divorces were caused by Peppard’s alcoholism, which he had been struggling with for years. The actor started drinking early in his career when the roles he played were not successful. In 1992, George married Laura Taylor, a banker at the time. They met in West Palm Beach, Florida. He lived with Laura for the rest of his life.
George Peppard died of pneumonia in 1994. His last work was the German drama film Tiger (1992).
