One was one of six children and, together with her younger brothers and sisters, performed in the theater of the local abbey as a child.
Maureen O'Hara, the owner of a beautiful soprano dreamed of a career as an opera singer. However, her father, quite a practical man, insisted on a more serious profession, and Maureen entered business school, after which she received a specialty of accountant and typist. While studying at business school, fate gave her the chance to pass auditions for filming in London. She did not take this role, but the famous British actor Charles Lawton noticed her at the studio. Thanks to him, Maureen in 1939 played a role in the film of the legendary Alfred Hitchcock “Tavern “Jamaica”.
After the release of the picture on the screens, she was approved for the role of the gypsy Esmeralda in the film “The Hunchback of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris”, which was filmed in Hollywood. Then there were roles from different directors. The Black Swan (1942)

Maureen O’Hara was an icon of Hollywood’s Golden Age. For her contribution to the film, the actress was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 1999, Maureen was selected as Grand Marshal of St. Patrick’s Parade in New York. In 2004, her autobiographical book Tis Herself was released, and the Irish Film Academy presented the actress with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Dublin. In 2005, Irish America named Maureen O’Hara “Woman of the Year.” /
