Ernst Lubitsch is an American and German actor, film director, screenwriter and producer in one person. He was born on January 28, 1892 in the family of a successful businessman who owned a weaving industry. In 1899, Ernst was sent to school, and then to the gymnasium.

Lubitsch had a wealth of work experience. After graduation, the boy began working in a textile shop. He then worked as an accountant for his father in his office. Fateful for Lubich was a meeting with actor V. Arnold, who later became his teacher.
The first performances of the future celebrity were in cabaret. In 1911, Lubitsch already plays at the Reinhardt Theatre, and in 1913 he made his film debut. In the period from 1919 to 1922, as a film director, he tried to shoot the films “Madame Dubarry”, “The Pharaoh’s Wife”, “The Oyster Princess” and “Flame”. They brought great success to their creator.
The best director’s film Lubich called the picture “oyster Princess”, which reveals the American mores of the time of the production of the picture.
In 1922, Ernst Lubitsch left for Hollywood and there he puts his new film called Rosita with Mary Pickford in the title role, but the film did not pay off. And so the director starts shooting small comedies. Great success brought Lubitsch his comedy “Marriage Circle”.
