Sergey Debizhev was born on August 1, 1957 in the city of Essentuki. After graduation, he entered the Serov Art School in Leningrad for the specialty “Design – Graphics”, then continued his studies at the Mukhina School.
In 1987, he made his documentary debut as a production artist in the film Empire. In the subsequent films “Thirst” and “You Calm Me,” he tried himself as a director.
In 1990, Debizhev created a black and white picture “Golden Dream”, which became a kind of nostalgic song dedicated to the pre-revolutionary era. In his unique manner, the director shot the next two films “Red on Red” and “Two-Face Janus”.
The film “Two Captains” was the first feature film of Debizhev. The title of the picture has nothing to do with the famous novel by Kaverin.
"Two Captains 2" Debizhev’s film is a comedy, a banter, an absurd musical history, a pseudo-historical farce.
Almost simultaneously, another work of the director appears on the screens - "The Insanity Complex." This short film consists of four small parts, commented on by a banal text openly mocking modern pseudoscientific trends.
Unique style and humor is inherent in the subsequent films of Debizhev “Above dark water”, “Spectacle”, “1812”, “In real time”, “Rainy season”, “Golden section”.
Sergey Debizhev is a regular participant of various exhibitions, as well as the creator of many video clips of such musical groups as Aquarium, DTT.
