The future composer grew up in a musical atmosphere, and at the age of 17 he wrote his first works - a piano waltz and a romance on Fet's poems.
After graduating from the School of Law, he enters the service of the Ministry of Justice, and amateurly engages in music classes at the Russian Music Society. After entering the conservatory, where he studied with the famous pianist and composer Anton Rubinstein. During his studies, he makes the final choice in favor of music and quits the service. The first performed work of the young composer is “Characteristic dances”.
Since 1866 Tchaikovsky teaches at the Moscow Conservatory, and quickly becomes famous in Russia. The first symphony "Winter Dreams", the opera "Voivode", "Eugene Onegin", the ballet "Swan Lake", as well as musical textbooks are written.
After 12 years of teaching, Tchaikovsky leaves Moscow. He travels a lot, writes new musical works: the immortal opera "Lady of Spades" and the grandiose Sixth Symphony, orchestral suites, regularly conducts. Having gained world fame, the composer returns to his homeland.
The great Russian composer died in St. Petersburg after contracting cholera in 1893. /
