In school years, Chastain took an active part in amateur productions, did not leave this hobby in student time. She was most successful in the heroines of past centuries, especially from Shakespeare’s plays. Having played Juliet, she finally became convinced that the stage and acting profession were her calling. She went to acting college with a Robin Williams scholarship. At one time, she performed in the Crew 32 group, played on the same stage with Philip Hoffman in the production of Othello.
