Theatrical and film actress Irina Melitskaya lived a very short but bright life. She had enough time and energy, and seemed to be in a hurry. “This actress has a light breath,” they said about her.
Irina was born on October 5, 1961 in Severodvinsk. She studied superbly in her physico-mathematical school, but one day the director Igor Dobrolyubov came to their class and offered Irina a cameo role for his film “The Schedule for the Day After Tomorrow”. The girl entered the Shchukin School a year after graduation, having studied at the Faculty of Physics of the Belarusian State University for a year.
Irina’s successes in “Schuk” were noted by the school management and the theater community: the talented student received an increased scholarship, and in the fourth year she was accepted into the troupe of the theater “Contemporary”, where she came to work after graduation. Among the works of that time, one can note the roles of Lyudmila in The Little Bese, Carolla in The Cool Route and Clara in Stars in the Morning Sky. Here she met the love of her life – actor Sergey Gazarov. Their acquaintance took place in Minsk - Irina just came to the theater, and the troupe went on tour. Their 14-year union, in which two sons were born, was amazing for the acting environment: faithful and surprisingly real.
In 1991, Irina received an invitation to work in the Roman Viktyuk Theatre, where she was engaged in productions of Madame Butterfly and Lolita. And in the Moscow Theater of the Moon, the actress played the role of Theodora in Byzantium.
In the movie she played more than 20 roles. Among the latest films with her participation can be called “The Creation of Adam”, “Split”, “I love”, “The novel “Alla russa” (novel in Russian style), “Mrs. Robin”, “Love, a portent of sorrow”, “Exersis N5”,
Black Veil .
The actress died of acute leukemia on June 5, 1997. Until recent days, only her relatives knew about this incurable disease. Irina is buried in the Moscow Troekurovsky cemetery. /
