Peter O'Toole, the son of a bookmaker, was born on August 2, 1932 in Ireland, but grew up in Leeds, England. Since childhood, Peter wanted to become a journalist and achieved his goal, but became interested in theater and made his debut on stage at the age of 17. After serving two years as a radio operator in the Royal Navy, O'Toole entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. For several years, the actor played on the stage of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre; his debut film roles in 1959-60 went unnoticed. His remarkable work at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-on-Avon led O'Toole to his starring role in David Lean's masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia (1962). He then starred with Richard Barton in Beckett (1964) and starred in The Ruling Class (1972). In the 70s, Peter O'Toole almost said goodbye to his life and career, was seriously treated for alcoholism, and in the early 80s he returned to the cinema, magnificently playing the role of a film director in "Trucks" (1982). Peter O’Toole is considered one of the best actors of his generation: he has been nominated for an Oscar seven times, not to mention other, not so famous, but no less prestigious awards. The new success of Peter O'Toole was the famous "Last Emperor" Bernardo Bertolucci, in which the actor played the role of Johnson, the teacher of the young Pu I. Peter O'Toole has two daughters, Patricia and Catherine, from marriage with actress Sian Phillips, as well as a son from model Karen Brown.
The actor died on December 14, 2013.
